Chapter 50 The Meeting Begins
Chapter 50 The Meeting Begins
"Yes, Archmage."
Upon hearing this, Li Wei nodded slightly. After greeting the Primarchs, he stood in an inconspicuous spot behind his Primarch Magnus and remained silent.
He recalled Peturabo's actions and expression when he was facing him, and everything seemed perfectly normal, which made Levi wonder if he was just imagining things.
Once everyone had arrived, the Primarchs rose together and headed toward the Golden Throne Court deep within the palace.
Li Wei stared at the Primarchs walking slowly ahead of him, and purple patterns unconsciously appeared in his eyes again as he began to analyze the essence of the Primarchs.
Primarchs do indeed possess a warp nature, but their nature is not awakened, which prevents Levi from understanding their nature; he can only see a chaotic void.
The one he could see most clearly was the wolf king, Leman Russ.
At the banquet that previously welcomed Horus back to Terra.
Li Wei, without making a sound, used his eyes, which could see through everything composed of matter and soul, to thoroughly scan all the original entities.
His pupils contracted sharply when his gaze fell upon the Space Wolf Primarch, the rugged and unruly Leman Ruth.
The true nature of Leman Rusna, which is about to awaken, is that of a bloodthirsty giant wolf.
Before Li Wei's eyes appeared a giant wolf covered in blood, baring its teeth at him, and he could faintly hear a deafening wolf howl.
Almost at the same instant, the Primarch of the Space Wolf, Lehman Ruth, seemed to sense something was amiss.
He roared, his eyes wide with rage, and charged straight at the chief think tank member of the Thousand Sons who was staring intently at him.
Magnus immediately stepped forward to stop him, and then the other Primarchs also stepped forward to mediate, and the small conflict was thus resolved.
Without exchanging a word, Li Wei and the Primarchs passed through the Gate of Eternity and arrived at the magnificent Throne Room.
In the center of the hall, the emperor sat on the golden throne, awaiting his offspring.
To the emperor's left is Macardo, a gaunt-faced man holding a scepter, his eyes as deep as the starry sea.
On the right stood Constantine Waldo, the commander of the Imperial Guard, clad in gilded armor and holding a spear, standing tall and imposing.
Before him lay a long, narrow table covered with scarlet velvet. All the Primarchs were already seated. Magnus and the other four Primarchs bowed in unison, calling him "Father," and then took their seats on the left.
Li Wei stood behind Magnus in the entourage seat, which was filled with the Primarch's Honor Guard and attendants. They were all bathed in the Emperor's vast and boundless divine pressure, their expressions solemn, and they dared not utter a sound.
"My children, I have summoned you here today to hold a think tank promotion meeting. This is also the first time that all of my children have gathered in Terra since they were found. I am very pleased."
The emperor spoke, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable authority that resonated directly in everyone's minds.
All the Primarchs beneath the throne bowed their heads in unison, signifying their acceptance of their father's wishes.
After a pause, the emperor continued:
"My offspring, the promotion of the think tank is indeed necessary. I will first express my support in principle. However, the specific reasons for its implementation shall be explained by Magnus, the proto-prime of the Thousand Sons."
As soon as he finished speaking, his gaze fell on Magnus, a hint of expectation hidden in his eyes.
"I will obey Father's command." Magnus, upon hearing this, stood up solemnly and slowly rose from his seat.
But he didn't speak immediately. Instead, he paused, turned around, looked at his chief think tank member Li Wei, and said in a deep voice:
"I will explain the specifics to you in detail by my chief think tank member, Li Wei, who is the actual designer of this think tank system."
As soon as he finished speaking, he looked back at the Emperor, hoping for the Emperor's approval.
He acted first and informed later, since only the emperor's sons were qualified to speak at this meeting.
However, he still decided to let Li Wei speak, because he had already sensed the undisguised hostility in the eyes of Mortarian on the other side, who was clearly trying to obstruct the implementation of the Thousand Sons Think Tank system.
Since the original plan to postpone the development of the think tank has been disrupted by our own actions, we must continue to promote the think tank.
There are two major advantages to having Li Wei speak.
First, Li Wei is merely the chief think tank of the Thousand Sons, and even if the Primarchs are dissatisfied with his statements, they cannot directly express their dissatisfaction.
Secondly, Li Wei's meticulous and thorough thinking makes him more suitable for arguing with opponents based on reason.
"Alright." The Emperor nodded slightly. He hadn't expected Magnus to let a non-Primarch answer in such an important meeting, but he still granted his request.
Hearing Magnus and the Emperor's brief words, Levi's expression froze. He never expected that his Primarch would push him out like this.
He originally came here just to be a background character, but he never expected to be pushed to the forefront. He secretly rolled his eyes and glanced at his original body.
He composed himself, straightened his think tank robes, and, under the envious gazes of the Primarchs' Honor Guard and attendants around him, slowly walked to the front of the council table, right under the Emperor's eyes.
Li Wei first glanced at the eighteen Primarchs seated on either side of him, took a deep breath, then turned and bowed to the Emperor. He then slightly bowed to the Primarchs and said in a clear voice:
"The establishment of think tanks is an inevitable trend and a necessity for the Empire. Ordinary psionicists, after rigorous training and supervision, will be a sharp weapon against warp contamination, not a lurking threat."
Li Wei spoke at a steady pace and clearly and logically.
His words drew nods of approval from many Primarchs.
Seeing that most of the Primarchs looked in agreement, Li Wei felt emboldened and continued:
"Furthermore, the think tank can significantly improve the legion's combat efficiency, providing early warnings of warp storms, breaking through enemy psionic interference, and accurately locating the enemy's command center..."
Before he could finish listing all the benefits of the think tank, he was suddenly interrupted by a voice filled with coldness and disgust.
"Ridiculous! Psykers are all minions of the warp."
Li Wei's gaze swept coldly toward the figure at the end of the seats on the right. As Li Wei expected, it was the Primarch of the Death Guard, the one who liked to wear a row of gas canisters and dressed in a sinister and terrifying manner, Mortarian.
He raised an eyebrow slightly and said calmly:
"Lord Mortalian, do you have a prejudice against psionicists, believing that they are all born corrupt?"
Li Wei's tone was extremely calm, but the expressions of more than half of the Primarchs changed slightly, because most of the Primarchs possessed psionic talents.
Even the emperor's usually calm and composed face twitched slightly. He wanted to know how his stubborn, even obsessive, son viewed him.
Because the Emperor is the most powerful psionicist in the galaxy, bar none.
