Chapter 583 - 581: Jack
Chapter 583 - 581: Jack
Lana calmly interrupted her before she could continue."If Wade has tried contacting you, or if someone else has contacted you on his behalf, you’d better hand every piece of evidence over to the Mystical Department."
She stepped closer until only a short distance separated them. "Otherwise, you’ll end up walking down a path you’ll regret for the rest of your life."
After leaving those final words behind, Lana turned around and walked away. A cool breeze brushed against her face as she left Fay standing alone in complete silence.
’At most, I’ll inform Uncle Axel about whatever is happening with Fay. As for what happens to her afterward... I honestly don’t care anymore.’
A bitter smile appeared on her lips. This year, she had finally believed she had found people she could genuinely trust.
Yet... one after another... every single one of them had betrayed her.
’Life really isn’t like the fairy tales people grow up listening to. Not every friend we make has pure intentions.’
By the time she returned, Axel immediately noticed the complicated emotions hidden beneath her calm expression.
"I’ll take you to the meeting location."
Lana simply nodded. "Alright."
Although she hid her emotions well, Axel could still sense that something had happened. ’She’s in a bad mood.’
He wisely chose not to ask any questions. Some wounds needed time before they could be spoken about.
Soon, the three of them arrived outside the restaurant’s private dining area. Standing outside one of the reserved rooms was a group of five young men.
Lana was still emotionally exhausted, but she politely smiled before speaking. "Excuse me."
Hearing her voice, the young man leading the group turned around. His name was Jack.
The moment he faced Lana, a gentle smile appeared on his handsome face.
His refined appearance, elegant posture, and graceful movements made him resemble a prince who had stepped straight out of a fairy tale.
His expensive clothes fit him perfectly, while the faint fragrance of luxury cologne lingered around him.
He extended his hand politely. "Hello. I’m Jack Miller."
He smiled warmly.
"I originally booked this restaurant because I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Unfortunately, every private room is occupied except this one."
He glanced toward the closed door before continuing. "This room has apparently been reserved for five hours, but no one has shown up for the past thirty minutes."
Lana couldn’t help but chuckle softly. "Well, the meeting was scheduled for four o’clock."
She casually glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.
"And it just turned four. If you’ve been waiting here since three-thirty, then that misunderstanding isn’t exactly our fault."
Jack’s smile stiffened ever so slightly. He had expected the beautiful young woman before him to become at least a little captivated by his appearance.
After all, most girls usually couldn’t resist his elegant charm. Even Lana... she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Although he assumed she must be wearing expensive makeup, somehow it didn’t feel artificial at all.
Instead of blushing or appearing flustered, she simply looked at him with complete indifference.
Maintaining his gentlemanly smile, Jack spoke once more.
"How about this? I’ll pay you three times the amount you spent to reserve this private room."
He spread both hands politely. "Would you mind giving this room to us instead?"
Lana smiled. It was an incredibly beautiful smile.
Unfortunately... it carried not even the slightest hint of warmth. "That’s certainly an interesting offer."
She slowly tilted her head.
"However, if you truly wanted to show sincerity, shouldn’t you have offered at least ten times the booking fee instead of merely three?"
She let out another amused laugh. "Besides..."
She looked him up and down. "You’re making an offer that’s far too small. So tell me, why exactly should I be the one to back down?"
The smile on Jack’s face instantly disappeared. His brows furrowed as irritation surfaced. "Miss, you..."
Before he could finish speaking, someone standing behind him suddenly exclaimed, "Hey! Isn’t that Lana Almond?"
The moment those words echoed through the hallway, Jack froze. His eyes narrowed as he carefully observed Lana once more.
Meanwhile, Lana blinked in confusion. ’They know me?’
Just as she was wondering where these people had seen her before, Jack suddenly laughed.
"Well... well... I thought you were just some wealthy young lady. So it’s actually you, Lana."
His polite demeanor disappeared completely. His voice turned cold.
"I’m still being polite right now. So leave this room. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to throw you out... or humiliate you in front of everyone."
Lana’s expression immediately darkened. She looked at him with icy eyes. "Do we know each other?"
Jack sneered. "Lana, don’t pretend. I’m already in a terrible mood. If you continue acting like this, I won’t bother being polite anymore and call Simon."
Lana blinked once. Then... everything suddenly came back to her.
’Jack... Jack Miller. Simon’s best friend.’
In her previous life, she had barely interacted with Simon after a certain point, causing many of the people around him to gradually fade from her memories.
However... there was one person she could never forget. Jack.
After all, he had shamelessly flirted with her countless times. Every single time, she had rejected him without hesitation.
Otherwise... god only knew what kind of trouble he would have caused.
A cold smile slowly spread across Lana’s lips. She looked straight into Jack’s eyes before speaking.
"Your name is Jack, right? Good. Then listen carefully, Jack... either you apologize to me, pay me twice the amount I spent booking this private room, and leave before I have security escort you out in the most undignified manner possible."
Lana’s smile remained calm, but her eyes were frighteningly cold.
"Not to mention, I’ll happily publish an article about how the young master of the Miller family went as far as threatening a young woman in public."
Hearing those words, Jack let out a mocking chuckle. "Lana, I have to admit you’ve got quite a few tricks hidden up your sleeve."
