Chapter 570: Pick Me
Chapter 570: Pick Me
Mr. Crow fell silent. His eyes blinked slowly. For the first time, he genuinely had no explanation.Meanwhile, somewhere else, another person was drowning in regret.
Phillips.
Who could have imagined that merely two weeks after Lana casually suggested that his eldest brother purchase land in Tianmei City, everything would change?
The project had exploded in value. Major investment routes had been closed off.
Countless corporations were fighting to enter.
Experts were already predicting that Tianmei City had the potential to become a trillion-dollar project in the future.
Phillips felt as though his heart was bleeding.
Originally, he had considered investing as well.
However, when Lana convinced his eldest brother to purchase the land, Phillips immediately became suspicious.
He assumed she had hidden motives.
He even convinced himself that she was somehow associated with Tianmei City’s developers.
What frustrated him the most was that he had actually wanted to buy the land.
Unfortunately, Thessy repeatedly claimed the project had little future potential.
Eventually, he abandoned the idea. Now he regretted it more than anything. With a heavy sigh, he leaned back in his chair.
’Should I apologize directly? Or should I send compensation first and then apologize?’
Just as he was lost in thought, a knock suddenly sounded on his bedroom door.
Phillips frowned before walking over.
The moment he opened the door, he saw Thessy standing outside. The irritation that had briefly surfaced in his heart disappeared.
"What is it?"
Thessy immediately clasped her hands together and pouted. "Brother, can you join a gaming livestream with us?"
Although Phillips was not in the mood, he still smiled. "Sure."
A short while later, he arrived at the gaming setup.
Several familiar faces were already gathered there. Seeing them, Phillips frowned and looked toward Thessy.
"How many times have I told you not to spend too much time around these people?"
The room instantly became awkward.
"They’re not as innocent as they pretend to be."
Phillips already knew how young men behaved. Even those from respectable circles were not truly innocent.
Men naturally developed impure thoughts. That was precisely why he often prevented Thessy from getting too close to his friends.
Behind closed doors, many of them still objectified women.
Meanwhile, Thessy rolled her eyes internally.
’As if I’m some naïve little girl.’
In her heart, she believed Phillips was simply trying to isolate her.
If she lacked connections, she would have no choice but to rely on him.
Perhaps in the past she would have tolerated it.
However, things were different now. She desperately needed connections and opportunities.
Therefore, she simply smiled sweetly. "Brother, you’re overthinking things."
Hearing those words, Philip’s frown deepened.
He was just about to say something when he watched Thessy suddenly skip toward his friends with a bright smile on her face.
"Hello, guys! Shall we start the livestream?"
Philip closed his eyes for a brief moment.
He had spent so much time trying to be patient with Thessy, constantly reminding himself that she was still young and immature.
"Thessy..."
He called her name, but this time she did not even glance in his direction. His hand tightened slightly before relaxing again.
’I have no choice.’
With a quiet sigh, he dropped into his chair and started the livestream.
As the stream continued, Philip gradually noticed something he had never paid much attention to before.
Thessy was constantly acting cute around his male friends.
Previously, she had always behaved like an innocent younger sister.
Whenever anyone joked too much or flirted with her, she would immediately distance herself.
More than once, she had even assured Philip that she understood his concerns and appreciated his efforts to protect her.
Yet now she was doing the complete opposite. She laughed at every joke. She deliberately moved closer to his friends.
She even leaned toward them from time to time while completely ignoring him.
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to focus on the game.
Soon, however, he realized that Thessy was not helping him at all.
Instead of supporting him, she constantly ran toward his teammates.
One particularly important team fight was completely ruined because she ignored him.
Philip’s character was killed. The team lost one of its most important damage dealers.
Claw, who was playing beside him, immediately frowned.
"Thessy, you’re really making Philip’s life difficult."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Sometimes I honestly feel like you’re only here to flirt with everyone else."
Then Clutch, who was sitting beside Claw, burst into laughter.
"Hey, brother, are you angry because she isn’t flirting with you?"
He grinned mischievously. "Don’t tell me you’re jealous."
The other players chuckled. Thessy immediately froze.
Her eyes quickly reddened. "Is... is that how all of you think about me?"
Her voice trembled slightly. "If that’s the case, then maybe I should just leave."
The softness in her voice made her sound genuinely hurt.
Anyone unfamiliar with the situation would have immediately believed she was the victim.
Philip frowned. "Thessy..."
Then he turned toward Claw and shook his head slightly, signaling him to stop.
Claw rolled his eyes.
’You deserve it, brother. Sometimes you act way too suspicious and protective.’
The next match soon began. This time Thessy’s behavior changed slightly.
She occasionally revolved around Philip and even helped him twice during critical moments.
To everyone else, it looked as though everything had returned to normal.
However, Philip was practically dying from frustration.
His gaming character and Thessy’s character were designed to work together.
They needed each other’s support to maximize their effectiveness.
Yet every single time he needed her assistance, Thessy would suddenly run away and start chatting with one of the other boys.
The worst part was that she seemed completely unaware of it.
Or perhaps she was doing it intentionally. Philip honestly could not tell anymore. Even so, he forced himself to remain calm.
He did not want to create a scene during the livestream. Therefore, he simply went with the flow.
After the third round, however, Philip finally lost his patience.
