Chapter 653 - 653: Fees
Chapter 653 - 653: Fees
After talking with Han Weilin and Qin Feng, the evening finally quieted down enough for Qin Feng and Su Jiyai to be alone together.Once the others left, a calm yet charged silence filled the space between them. Their eyes met, warm, familiar, and filled with longing that words could never quite describe.
Without saying anything, Qin Feng reached for Su Jiyai's hand, and together they made their way to their room.
As soon as the door closed behind them, Qin Feng pulled her gently into his arms.
His lips found hers almost instantly, as if he had been waiting for that moment for a lifetime.
Between breathless kisses, he whispered, "I missed you so much."
Su Jiyai smiled against his lips, her voice soft and tender. "I missed you too, more than you can imagine."
Their kisses deepened, slow and yearning at first, then more desperate.
The distance between them melted away. Qin Feng's hands moved to her shoulders, sliding down as if memorizing her all over again, while Su Jiyai's fingers tangled in his hair.
Piece by piece, their clothes began to fall away, until...
Knock, knock.
They both froze.
For a moment, their hearts stopped beating, and then both of them jumped apart in utter panic.
Su Jiyai placed a hand over her chest, trying to calm her racing heart.
"Who on earth..." she muttered under her breath. She quickly grabbed the bedsheet to cover herself, while Qin Feng scrambled for his shirt.
The knocking came again.
Just as Su Jiyai was about to call out, a familiar young voice came from outside. "Mom, are you free right now?"
It was Tyler.
In an instant, the romantic tension in the air vanished, replaced by motherly instinct.
Su Jiyai straightened her clothes, quickly fixed her hair, and gave herself a quick once-over in the mirror. She took a deep breath before opening the door.
Outside stood Tyler and Selena, both looking far too innocent for the trouble they were about to cause.
"Tyler, Selena!" Su Jiyai greeted them with a bright grin, though her cheeks were still faintly pink. "What are you two doing here?"
Tyler held up a small notepad with an overly serious expression. "We're here to collect the monthly rent."
"The… what?" Su Jiyai blinked, confused.
Qin Feng, standing behind her, let out a soft chuckle. "Monthly rent? What kind of rent are we talking about?"
Tyler crossed his arms. "Mom has been living in our villa for three years now without paying any rent. We can't let that slide anymore."
Selena nodded gravely and added,
"This villa was built by our mom, yes... but on our behalf. The deed is in our names. So, as the rightful owners, we've decided the rent needs to be paid regularly."
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow, amused. "Oh really? And how much are you two charging me, hmm?"
Selena flipped open her notepad, revealing a chart that looked surprisingly professional for a little girl's handwriting.
"The rent is not in money," she said with exaggerated seriousness. "It's in kisses. Since you've been living here for three years without paying, you owe..." she paused for dramatic effect, "...one thousand five hundred kisses."
Su Jiyai stared blankly at the number. "Fifteen hundred kisses?!"
Tyler nodded, face solemn. "You've missed a lot of payments, Mom. We calculated everything carefully."
For a second, Su Jiyai could only laugh, shaking her head in disbelief. "There's no way I can pay that all at once! How about this... You take a few every day instead?"
Tyler and Selena exchanged a quick look and then both nodded in agreement.
"Deal," Tyler said with mock gravity, stepping forward.
Before Su Jiyai could react, Tyler leaned in and planted a quick kiss on her cheek.
Then Selena joined in, kissing her on the other cheek.
Su Jiyai let out a surprised laugh, her eyes sparkling with affection.
Their little lips were soft and warm, and their innocent enthusiasm made her heart melt.
'They're just too adorable,' she thought, unable to stop giggling. 'It feels like tiny baby birds pecking at my face.'
"You two really know how to take advantage of your mother," she teased.
Tyler and Selena immediately blushed, but they stood tall with a sense of accomplishment.
Tyler cleared his throat and said seriously,
"We've collected ten kisses today. If we go by math, you'll finish paying the rent in about one hundred and sixty days... with interest."
Su Jiyai's jaw dropped. "Interest?! You added interest, too?"
Selena nodded proudly. "We're learning about percentages from Daddy."
Su Jiyai burst out laughing. "My children are little geniuses! You even found a logical reason to demand kisses."
Both kids smiled smugly, clearly pleased with themselves.
Then Tyler turned toward Qin Feng, his expression turning unusually serious.
"Dad, we already know you're trying to make us a new little brother or sister, so we'll stop disturbing you now."
Qin Feng froze mid-breath, utterly speechless.
Su Jiyai's eyes widened, her entire face turning crimson. "Tyler!" she exclaimed, mortified.
But Tyler and Selena just giggled mischievously and started running off hand in hand, like two little bandits who had just raided a treasure vault.
As they disappeared down the hallway, Su Jiyai burst into laughter. Tears of amusement pricked her eyes as she turned to Qin Feng. "Do you think this was worth it?"
Qin Feng, still red-faced, managed a small nod. "Absolutely."
"Then," she said softly, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear, "I guess I should focus on my husband now."
Qin Feng's eyes lit up. "I couldn't agree more."
They exchanged a knowing smile before falling back onto the bed. The laughter faded, replaced once again by warmth and tenderness.
The night passed slowly, filled with the quiet comfort of shared hearts.
When morning came, sunlight filtered gently through the curtains. Su Jiyai lay awake beside Qin Feng, her thoughts drifting. So much had happened in the past few days...
Just as she began organizing her thoughts, the familiar chime of her system echoed in her mind.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have earned three additional L-Rank rewards. Current total: four.]
Su Jiyai smiled lightly.
"System," she asked curiously, "if you had an L-Rank reward, what would you wish for?"
There was a brief silence. Then, the system replied in a low, somewhat melancholic tone,
[Host, I do not qualify for such rewards due to my low operational level. I do not… dream about them.]
Something in that answer made her heart ache. His voice had a faint trace of sadness, almost human.
"System," she asked softly, "can you actually feel emotions?"
[Occasionally,] the system admitted. [However, since I am a half-defective system, my emotional range is limited. Many times, I feel nothing at all.]
Su Jiyai was quiet for a long time before finally nodding. "Then let's use the first L-Rank reward. I want to find my Aunt Ruby and bring her back to Earth."
[Confirmed,] the system said after a pause. [I will contact the Administrator. Once Aunt Ruby is located, you will be notified.]
"Good," she whispered.
[Any other reward requests, Host?]
"Yes," Su Jiyai said after some thought. "For my second reward, I want to make sure that even after you return, the buildings you created, the constant power supply... everything you gave us, remains functional. I don't want them to vanish."
The system hesitated.
[Host… that may not be possible. Perhaps you have not noticed, but all superhumans across the world are gradually losing their powers. Since the threat of zombies is gone, the energy sustaining their abilities is being reclaimed. The era of powers is coming to an end.]
Su Jiyai's expression softened. "Then… is there really no other way?"
[Do not worry, Host,] the system replied gently. [Because we are bound, I have ensured you will never be left in a disadvantageous position. Even if much disappears, you will retain more than anyone else.]
The cryptic reassurance left her uncertain, but she trusted the system enough not to press further. "Then I'll still use my second wish as a safeguard," she said firmly.
[Acknowledged. I will inform the Administrator.]
"And as for the other two rewards," she murmured, "I'll decide later."
[Understood.]
The mental connection faded, leaving only the soft rustling of sheets and the sound of steady breathing beside her.
"Are you finished talking to your system?" Qin Feng's sleepy voice came from beside her.
Su Jiyai turned, startled, then smiled. "Yes, all done."
"Good," he said, sitting up with a grin. "Because we need to get ready."
She frowned slightly. "For what?"
"The charity foundation event," Qin Feng explained. "The orphanage is hosting a gratitude ceremony today for all the donors. When they learned you were back, they personally requested your presence."
Su Jiyai blinked. "Wait... when did you even find that out?"
Qin Feng chuckled, showing her his phone. "Just now. While you were busy talking to the system."
She laughed and shook her head. "You really don't waste time, do you?"
He winked. "Only when it comes to you."
