Chapter 515 Survivors Found
Chapter 515 Survivors Found
In this mysterious castle area, strange creatures thrive and multiply. Whenever people approach, those spider-like creatures will jump away swiftly, as if to guide the visitors.
The two artificial intelligences, Tap and Karen, shuttled between various detection devices like nimble dancers, cleverly creating brief chaos and causing the surveillance footage to briefly loop.
Afterwards, the team split up, with Ant-Man and the Wasp transforming into small explorers and entering a vent with a group of ant companions. On the other side, Captain America, Black Widow and the Alien Squad explored upwards, Quinlan Vos and Delta Squad chose the lower floors, while Barris, Ayla, Bly and the 327th ARC soldiers stayed on the floor they entered.
They moved silently through every corner of the castle, using two artificial intelligences as guides and cleverly avoiding dozens of drone patrols.
"All teams, report the situation." Captain America said softly, his eyes vigilantly scanning every corner, cleverly avoiding the two drone sentinels flying by. At the same time, Ant-Man and the Wasp went around a corner of the ventilation shaft and looked down at an open doorway, only to see an empty room in front of them.
"Everything is normal here, Captain," Wasp said over the comms. "Just a bunch of empty rooms."
"Are you sure there's nothing in there?" Black Widow's voice came from the communication.
"Indeed, our ants found no clues."
Over on Voss and Delta Team's side, they were standing on either side of the entrance to a corridor filled with drones.
"There is a lot of drone activity here," the leader reported. "They must be hiding some secret here."
"I don't like this feeling." Lao Qi said through the communicator, revealing a slightly uneasy expression under his helmet. "To be honest, I always feel that Commander Orphie's previous words have a hidden meaning. I have a bad feeling about this place."
"We need to go another way, Rogers." Quinlan decided to change strategy.
The last group came to a corridor with several doors, and stairs on both sides led to these doors.
"This is the detention room." Ella stared at every door vigilantly, "We are about to start the investigation."
Bligh motioned to his three companions, his eyes falling on Lucky beside him, while Cameron and Lightning began to check the other side of their cell.
Ella and Barris each opened a cell alone.
The four cell doors opened one by one, and three of them were empty.
However, behind the fourth door...
"Found something!" Cameron shouted loudly, and everyone immediately rushed into the cell where he and the Flash were, and found a lonely, extremely weak but still alive clone soldier.
Barris was the first to rush forward, standing next to the soldier, while Aayla stood on the other side. The clone had his eyes closed, as if he was in great pain.
Barriss Offee closed her eyes and gently placed her hands over the clone's body. Her hands seemed to have healing power, extending from the top of the head to the toes.
"His injuries aren't serious." Barris breathed a sigh of relief, and so did the others. "He's just malnourished, barely hanging on to life."
"Do you need to give him some food?" Lucky asked softly, taking out a pack of instant military rations from his backpack.
"Yes, but it must be done in moderation so as not to put more strain on his body," Barris replied. "Now give him some water."
Flash quickly pulled out a bottle of water and handed it to Barris, who took it and fed him the water while Secura used the Force to help the clone regain consciousness.
As the Force took effect, the clone groaned in pain and his eyes gradually opened. His vision was blurry at first, but then gradually became clear.
"Where...is this place?" The clone asked vaguely as consciousness gradually returned.
"Don't move suddenly," Barris said softly, placing a hand gently on his shoulder to comfort him, "Take your time. Don't rush."
"If...if you don't mind, we can go faster." Lucky said, glancing outside the cell, holding the DC-17 blaster pistol tightly in his hand.
The clone's eyes soon opened completely, and he looked around, first seeing the four companions and two Jedi Knights in front of him. He couldn't believe that he was still alive.
The clone first looked at Barris, then at Ayla, and then at the other companions. They were all fully armed and had serious expressions on their faces. He repeated the process again, but this time there was a hint of determination and hope in his eyes.
"General Secura?" His voice was hoarse, as if it had been worn down by time and dust. "Commander—" He coughed a few times, his voice full of fatigue.
Barris gently lifted his head, one hand gently stroking the back of his head, and the other hand steadily tilted the kettle, letting the cool liquid slowly flow into his mouth. He swallowed the water in big gulps, his breathing gradually stabilized, and a hint of gratitude appeared in his eyes.
"Thank you, Commander," he called out hoarsely.
Bly walked closer quietly, knelt on one knee, and looked at the still confused clone at eye level. "What is your name, soldier?" he asked gently.
"Coil, sir." The clone replied in a hoarse voice, but it revealed deep respect for the commander. "I am from the 152nd Battalion."
"What's the last thing you remember, Coil?" Bligh pressed on.
The clone trooper named Coil seemed to be in a state of confusion, his brain trying to recall the events before he came here.
"There are still many of us there." He whispered, his voice choking with sobs. "My brothers...we were all taken away by him."
"Ultron? What is he doing here?" Ella asked curiously.
Coil shook his head, the movement making him feel dizzy. "I don't know what he did." He tried to steady himself, raising his hands above his head, "That's it... they were taken away. And then... the screaming. All I heard was them screaming." His eyes moistened and tears fell.
"Who is the general who leads you, Coil?" Bligh asked again.
"General Cyrus and Commander Aubrey Wing," he answered without hesitation.
This answer shocked the six rescuers present, and they exchanged looks of disbelief with each other.
"General Cyrus," Ella repeated in a low voice.
"Commander Aubrey?" Barris' eyes widened.
"Wait, they... aren't they stationed on Jabiim?" Cameron asked, confusion evident in his voice. "General Cyrus died heroically, and I know Aubrey Wing has left the planet."
“Jabimu…” Coil’s voice was a little heavy, “That’s the last thing I remember.”
The clones and Jedi looked at each other, shock and worry in their eyes.
"Damn Ultron." The Flash cursed under his breath, "Did he start his operations here from Jabium?"
"What on earth did he do to you?" Lucky's voice was filled with uneasiness. After learning all this, his heart sank.
"We have to get him out of here first," Barris said decisively.
Ella nodded and immediately made contact with the others.
"Everyone, we have found a prisoner," she informed the groups, "His name is Coil. He has been here since the Battle of Jabiim."
"Jabim?" The Wasp could hardly believe her ears. "That was months ago."
"His entire team was captured," Bligh added, glancing back at the coil being assisted by Barris and another soldier. "He's in poor health, severely malnourished."
As they slowly carried the coil out of the cell, the group couldn't help but wonder: were there other survivors at the time?
There must be some, but probably only a minority.
However, what the Coil had mentioned about Jabimu's captivity since, and him being under the command of Cyrus and Padawan Aubrey Wing...it all made them uneasy.
A real, almost cold fear gripped Barris's guts. The pain that echoed through the Force grew stronger.
The feeling was almost too much for her, but Padawan took a deep breath, swallowed down her fear, and focused on her task.
Coil was the first of many captives they would rescue. It was a good start. They had to keep going, searching for possible survivors.
While walking in the corridor, Barriss Offee suddenly noticed something unusual. She stopped and looked behind them.
"Commander, what's that sound?" Lucky asked directly, while his clone brother subconsciously reached for his pistol.
"Did you hear that?" She pricked up her ears and paid full attention. "What on earth was that rustling sound?"
The others stopped, Barris and the others looked back, then looked behind her. Ayla held her lightsaber tightly, and the atmosphere around her was tense.
At this time, a faint echo came from afar, with tiny ding-dong and ticking sounds intertwined together.
Just when they were about to draw their weapons, the sound suddenly stopped. Everyone stood still, nervously waiting for the next move.
"I... I don't know if they've left." Cameron's voice was a little uneasy.
Bligh was more resolute: "We should not stay here any longer. We should leave here as soon as possible."
"What on earth is making this sound?"
"According to my guess, it might be Ultron's mechanical army."
"Everyone." Ella interrupted the conversation and brought them back on track in time.
The clones immediately gathered their minds and continued to move towards the castle.
They couldn't help but feel a little worried: "I hope those mechanical creatures won't crawl over the wall."
……
"Oh, my dear clones, they are on the wall..."
"Admiral Trench." A mechanical voice came from behind the Hutch, the voice was cold and human-like.
Admiral Trench, once a member of the Separatist Alliance and now a staunch ally of Ultron, turned and saw a dozen Ultron Sentinels under the command of a unique leader.
This leader is different. He is thin and has a pair of glowing red eyes that stand out on his face. His mouth is open, and his head is like a complete helmet, which is fuller and bulkier. The two glowing blue eyes on the helmet are shining, although the antennas similar to Ultron are still retained on both sides of the head.
"Beard..." Admiral Trench greeted.
The robot responded coldly: "That is not my title."
"I understand. I just thought it was interesting to mention it in front of you."
The beard said impatiently, "Didn't your detector detect the intruder?"
Admiral Trench simply nodded, then turned back to whatever he was focusing on.
It was a surveillance video, with some personnel hurrying in from a distance, cautiously following three groups of people in the castle corridors. Others appeared from above, to the side, or directly below, making the scene they observed much larger than it actually was. Sometimes they seemed to see nothing, or a brief glitch interfered with their ability to record the intruders. But Admiral Trench knew that all this was the masterpiece of the infiltrator team.
"Just as Lord Ultron had foreseen." Admiral Trench's mandibles made a sound of satisfaction. "One way or another, the Avengers and their allies will be here eventually. We just need the right bait."
"Jedi Master Pier is the best choice to attract them." The robot said in a cold tone. "If we can eliminate these invaders, Lord Ultron will be very happy."
Admiral Trench, however, seemed to disagree with this view.
His mechanized arm was raised, his finger pointed in a certain direction. He said, "You forget, Whisker. Ultron's wish is to see the Avengers destroyed by his own hands. Therefore, our first task is to break them, crush their resolve, destroy their minds, and disintegrate their spirits. They took everything from Ultron and even denied his original intention. We will seek justice and unswervingly carry out his true mission."
Hu Zi pondered for a moment, and gradually understood the meaning. "Those who cannot improve——"
Admiral Trench interrupted, his jaw clicking and his tone full of excitement. "I think it's time for them to see for themselves the great mission and glory of this place," he stressed. "It is those who cannot adapt, who cannot progress, who are doomed to perish."
"Doomed." Admiral Trench's jaws clicked again and he spoke with excitement. "I think it's time for them to bear witness to the glorious purpose this place serves."
