Chapter 217 A new journey

Chapter 217 A new journey

In a stone palace in southern Xinjiang, Agred is deep in thought as he looks at the world model in front of him.

Ellie, having finished cleaning the palace, came to Agred's side. Seeing his worried expression, she flew up to look at the huge world sand table and asked with concern, "Teacher, what's wrong? What problem have you encountered that makes you frown like this?"

Agreed shook his head and said to Ellie, "I plan to continue expanding outwards, but in many places, our current manpower is simply not strong enough to send troops there. Look, this is a barren desert on another continent. I must get it because it not only has abundant mineral resources but also the race I care about most, the 'Undead'! Moreover, the Blue Dragon bloodline that Tiga needs can only be obtained from the Blue Dragons living there. I have a feeling that I will gain a lot of benefits there, but it is divided up by the Undead, Blue Dragons, Brass Dragons, and local ferocious animals. We simply cannot get involved."

And then there's the Arctic continent, located at the northernmost tip of the planet. Although it's the smallest in terms of land area, it's home to the white dragons, frost giants, and mountain giants—clans I'm most interested in. The harsh environment makes it seem unsuitable as a priority area to seize. Furthermore, the grey dwarves have recently sent intelligence that the deeper underground world, known as the 'Underworld,' is showing signs of disturbance. Clearly, the drow elves and orcs living there are no longer content with their small territories, and the human world to our north has become aware of our presence and begun to guard against us. And then there are the nine seas rich in marine resources—I don't want to let them slip by easily, but these regions are currently proving difficult to conquer.”

Looking at the sand table map in front of her, Ellie suggested, "Then you can try to lay the groundwork for your power in these places. As time goes by, your influence in these places will become more and more widespread. When that time comes, swallowing these regions will be a piece of cake, won't it?"

Agreed thought for a moment and nodded in agreement, saying, "You're right. Sometimes we shouldn't just sit here and daydream. We need to take action first to know what to do next."

So Agreed stood up, opened a portal, and vanished from the castle in the blink of an eye, arriving on the Arctic continent.

Ellie shrugged helplessly at the spot where Agreed had disappeared, then began to practice the magical knowledge Agreed had taught her.

On the Arctic continent

Argrede wandered alone across the dark and icy continent of Mussurida. Mussurida is a relatively common binary star system in the universe, with two suns orbiting in a ∞ orbit. This is why the planet experiences eight seasons in a year, which is roughly 500 days in our time calculations. Because of the combined gravitational pull of the two suns, Mussurida's orbital speed is much faster than Earth's. Although Mussurida has several moon-like satellites, this cannot change the fact that Mussurida has an extreme climate.

The central region of Musurida is extremely hot, easily leading to the extreme evolution of tropical rainforests and deserts. Only the areas inhabited by humans are considered normal dwellings with suitable conditions and distinct seasons. The Arctic continent, on the other hand, is a chaotic place where the polar day and polar night alternate in a particularly irregular manner. The fact that there are more nights than days has resulted in tens of thousands of meters of solid ice. If you think you can dig through the ice above to explore the permafrost below, you should forget about it, because even with modern technology, this is still a difficult and almost impossible challenge.

But even in such extreme environments, some lives still survived!

The white dragons and frost giants go without saying, but where does the basic food, or rather the first trophic level, come from here?

The first trophic level comes from a type of white worm called ice worm, which lives underground. Ice worms can obtain nutrition by consuming a medulla in the underground ice layer. They are the most comfortable creatures living in this icy world. During the day, they grow white and plump by eating cold-resistant algae and the remains of other animals in the ice layer. These creatures are very fat and thus support more than half of the life in the Arctic continent. At the same time, there are marine creatures similar to 'krill' and 'seal' on Earth under the ocean ice layer on the outer edge of the continent as food. When the polar day occurs, if the predators cannot hibernate due to insufficient nutrition, they will take the risk to try their luck in the outer edge of the ocean to see if they can find food.

By this time, Agreed's eyes were already covered by the heavy snow. The harsh environment of the Arctic continent made him feel as if he had returned to Niflheim. Speaking of which, it was time for him to return to the World Tree and continue to gnaw on its roots. Otherwise, his body would soon stop growing, which was undoubtedly the worst news for Agreed.

"After I finish these things, I should go back to the World Tree. After all, nothing is more important than my own strength," Agred muttered to himself.

As soon as he finished speaking, a close-fitting magical barrier appeared, and the ice shards and snowflakes flying in from the outside were bounced aside by something that resembled a repulsive force field. Agreed activated his soul vision and once again confirmed the target's location through spiritual particles to ensure that his target was still in his lair.

Agreed came this time not for anything else, but for the 'White Dragon', the apex predator on the Arctic continent's food chain.

Many people misunderstand the white dragons, believing them to be the weakest of the five dragon species, or even worse, that the white dragons were created by Tiamat to match the five metal dragon species.

In fact, this is a mistake. Moreover, among the five original chromatic dragons created by Tiamat, the white dragon is the strongest. The white dragon is not actually an ice-attribute dragon. Their breath is actually a kind of 'decomposition dragon breath' that is more related to the light element. Decomposition dragon breath can directly decompose the enemies it defeats into particles. If a creature is not a powerful being with elemental immunity and resistance like the dragons, it will surely die if it comes into contact with decomposition dragon breath.

But why did the white dragons lose this powerful ability and gain the ability to freeze creatures with their freezing breath?

As the saying goes, "a child without a mother has a long story to tell." First, we must understand one thing: after a dragon is born, it inherits all the memories and wisdom of the previous generation of dragons through bloodline inheritance. However, the more powerful the dragon species, the fewer dragon eggs will hatch into offspring capable of inheriting the dragon's legacy. This is unavoidable, since even the most extraordinary infants of the same species will have roughly the same physique due to genetic limitations. White dragons, on the other hand, need to inherit even greater power, which becomes the culprit that kills them. As a result, very few white dragon offspring can truly inherit the bloodline talents of the white dragon race, and most of them eventually become dragon beasts.

As time went by, no more dragon eggs could hatch into young dragons capable of withstanding the inheritance of the White Dragons. Thus, the White Dragon race became completely extinct. However, those mentally challenged 'dragon beasts' who did not inherit the inheritance continued to live and reproduce. Over time, they even learned a new breath technique that could freeze their enemies. As time went on, these surviving and growing dragon beasts were mistaken for the 'White Dragons' among the five-colored dragons. Even the later new generation of five-colored dragons believed that these dragon beasts were White Dragons. Thus, in the eyes of other dragon species, the White Dragon generally became a disgrace to the dragons, being stupid and weak. This image of incompetence became everyone's perception of them.

In reality, these existing white dragons are not white dragons at all in the strict sense. They are just a group of 'mentally challenged' people who cannot accept the inheritance. They do not know dragon language magic, cannot decompose breath, and their physical bodies are not significantly damaged.
