The Elixir is for You, The Poison is for Me

#182 - Amu's New Friend

#182 - Amu's New Friend

Lu Jing didn't know that Guo Shouhuai, the head of the Sitianjian, was currently discussing him with Supervisor Huang.

In fact, after obtaining Supervisor Huang's permission and receiving his handwritten letter, Lu Jing left the academy through the Well and appeared in the small courtyard of Hengji Coffin Shop.

Lord Dong, with his僵尸face, wasn't there, so Lu Jing directly jumped over the wall.

Afterward, he returned to his residence in the capital. As soon as he entered, a figure嗖 rushed into his arms.

"Amu!" Lu Jing patted the wooden head of the little wooden training dummy.

He had originally left Amu here for safety reasons, but he didn't expect to be gone for over a month.

The thought of the little wooden training dummy turning into a left-behind child, having to play by itself all this time, filled Lu Jing with heartache.

He quickly found some clothes, put them on the child, and then put on a bamboo hat to cover its entire body.

Then, he said to the little wooden training dummy, who had finished changing, "Let's go register your household."

Amu didn't know what registering a household meant, but it knew that this attire meant Lu Jing was taking it out.

So, it immediately became happy again, jumping up and down 嗖嗖嗖 and running around the yard several times.

It only obediently returned to the latter's side when Lu Jing beckoned.

The child had been stifled.

Lu Jing was about to push the door open and take Amu to the street when he saw the little wooden training dummy waving its little wooden hand at the roof.

Then, a shadow leaped down from the roof.

It was a狸猫, and a rare black狸猫 at that, but it had a white line on its forehead that stretched from the center of its brow to its tail.

Perhaps because of this peculiar coat, it often got into fights with other狸猫, and had many scars on its body. One of its eyes also looked cloudy, and it was unclear if it was blind.

However, the black cat's movements were very agile.

After leaping from the roof, it pushed off the ground with all four legs and jumped onto Amu's bamboo hat, where it lay down and didn't move.

Lu Jing couldn't help but be surprised at the sight.

He had lived with Amu in Wujiang City for over two years and knew that the little wooden training dummy wasn't very brave.

It was usually afraid of cats and dogs on the roadside, and would basically walk around them or stick close to his side.

But he didn't expect it to let that black cat lie on its head.

And it even seemed worried that the black cat wasn't lying comfortably, and stretched out its little wooden hand to try and touch it, but the bamboo hat was too big, and it couldn't reach the狸猫 above.

"Your friend?" Lu Jing asked Amu.

The little wooden training dummy nodded.

"Did you meet during this time?"

It nodded again.

"Okay."

Lu Jing didn't expect that Amu would actually make its first friend during the time he was away, and it seemed like the two had a very close relationship.

This filled Lu Jing with mixed feelings. On one hand, he was happy that Amu had made a friend, and on the other hand, he deeply regretted his abandonment behavior during the previous period. Then, he began to examine the black cat on Amu's head like all old fathers would.

Hmm, I don't know if this cat is proper, if it has any bad habits, or if it will lead Amu astray.

Lu Jing wasn't in a hurry to go to the Sitianjian, but instead took Amu to stroll around the nearby market first.

He also bought some writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones, as well as daily necessities that he might use in the academy later.

He also bought a small pot for decocting medicine, planning to use it specifically for煎坠入凡尘later.

After shopping, he took Amu to Liwa's theater to watch a play about a sword immortal slaying a white snake. He didn't know if Amu understood the plot.

Anyway, the black cat probably found it a bit boring and jumped off Amu's bamboo hat halfway through, disappearing somewhere.

Fortunately, it ran back when the play was almost over.

It continued to lie on Amu's bamboo hat, but Lu Jing noticed that the black cat had another wound on its body, which looked like it had been swept out by a broom.

Did this guy go somewhere to steal food and get caught and beaten?

Lu Jing frowned, but after looking at Amu, who was happily watching the play, he refrained from saying anything. The main reason was that it was a cat, and he felt that even if he said something, it would be useless.

So, in the end, he could only sigh helplessly.

When the play was over, Lu Jing was afraid that the black cat would cause trouble again, so he specially went to the fish stall and bought a fish to feed it. As a result, the black cat seemed uninterested in the fish, only symbolically eating a few bites to show its appreciation.

Then, it jumped back on top of Amu's head.

However, this behavior also confirmed from the side that it had indeed gone somewhere to steal food just now, which made Lu Jing dislike it even more.

But seeing that the sun was about to set, Lu Jing didn't bother with it any longer.

He took Amu to the Sitianjian first.

Unlike other important government offices in the capital, the Sitianjian's office wasn't near Yujie Street or outside Zhuquemen Gate, but in Jiezixiang in the north of the city.

Next to it was a Taoist temple, which wasn't very famous. If the people in the city really wanted to burn incense, they would prefer to go to Daxiangguo Temple.

So, there weren't many people around here on weekdays. In addition, the Sitianjian's Guanjing Tower, which was known as the tallest building in the capital, was still easy to find.

Lu Jing looked up at the official residence in front of him. It had green tiles and red walls, flying eaves and hanging feet. The plaque in the center had three large characters written by the founding emperor - Sitianjian. Even though it was a famous leisure department, it still looked very imposing.

However, when Lu Jing entered with Amu, he didn't see any officials.

He stood awkwardly in the front hall for a while, and finally had to say, "Is anyone there?"

After waiting for a while, he heard a rather annoying voice from inside, replying, "No one."

"Aren't you a person?" Lu Jing was taken aback.

"I'm not. Supervisor Yi always says I'm as lazy as a pig," the voice said seriously.

"…………"

However, after a while, the clerk who was as lazy as a pig still came out from behind, yawning.

"If you want to sue or complain, go to Dali Temple or the Censorate. If you want to study and become a teacher, go to the Imperial College. If you're a foreigner entering the capital to pay tribute, go to Honglu Temple. If you want to observe fate and fortune, turn left and go to Qixia Temple. This is the Sitianjian, just a place to watch the stars. We don't receive anyone, thank you."
