Chapter 216: Adventures in the Magic Continent

Chapter 216: Adventures in the Magic Continent

The sun sets in the west, and a heartbroken person is far away. This ancient and sad poem, in this magical land full of fantasy, inexplicably fits the atmosphere of the moment.

A carriage slowly rolled along the road to the imperial capital. The driver was a black-robed man, his silver-white hair fluttering gently in the breeze. Despite the wrinkles on his face, his energetic demeanor and beaming smile made one wonder what kind of story this man in black robes held.

Though drawn by a single horse, the carriage's black sandalwood cabin was strikingly impressive. A half-moon emblem, embossed on the carriage, was particularly striking. In the magical continent, such emblems often represent a family or sect. Even more surprising, the emblem gleamed in the setting sun, revealing, upon closer inspection, that it was silver. For those familiar with the magical continent, this emblem held immense significance, signifying that this sect had produced at least one prominent figure in the history of magic. The crescent symbolized the sect's pivotal historical position within the magical continent.

Li Fugui sat in the carriage, muttering magic spells non-stop. He glanced out the window periodically, observing the sky. After a while, he sighed deeply, turned to the black-robed magician driving the carriage, and said, "Master, should we find a place to rest? It's getting dark." Li Fugui had been passionate about magic since childhood, and to be able to study under this renowned magician was his dream. During his days of studying magic with his teacher, he worked diligently and made rapid progress.

At the driver's seat of the carriage, the Great Magician, his thoughts interrupted, looked up at the blood-red sunset, and after a moment's contemplation, said, "Alright." The Great Magician was renowned throughout the Magic Continent. His magical proficiency was unfathomable, and he had trained many outstanding magicians. He was traveling with Li Fugui to the Imperial Capital to participate in an important magical academic exchange event. Just then, a horse galloped up from the front and rear, quickly approaching the carriage. A knight in light armor, slightly out of breath, asked respectfully, "Excuse me, Master Magician, is there a place up ahead where we can rest?" The knight's eyes betrayed fatigue and anxiety. He had been traveling for a long time on this long journey and urgently needed a place to rest.

The Great Magician, in a good mood, casually replied to the knight, "There's a small town two kilometers ahead. It seems this is the only place we can rest." In the magical continent, magicians are highly respected, especially top magicians like the Great Magician, who are highly respected. The knight was delighted to hear the Great Magician's answer.

The young knight took off his hat, saluted the great magician, nodded and said, "Thank you, Master Magician. It seems that I can only rest in front today." Looking at the handsome face of the young knight, the great magician sighed in his heart, "What a naive young man." In the eyes of the great magician, this seemingly ordinary journey actually hides many unknown dangers, and the young knight is completely unaware of this.

The carriage and its riders drove toward the small town ahead. As they drew closer, the surrounding scenery gradually changed. Sparse trees and farmland began to appear on either side of the previously empty road. The air was filled with the scent of earth and grass, creating a refreshing feeling.

When they finally arrived at the town, it was already completely dark. The houses were scattered in an orderly fashion, and most of the shops along the street were closed, with only a few still dimly lit. At the entrance to the town, there was a shabby sign that read "An Ning Town."

The great magician parked his carriage in front of a relatively clean-looking inn. A large beer mug was painted on the inn's sign, swaying gently in the breeze. Li Fugui excitedly jumped from the carriage, eager to feast.

The young knight also stopped and looked at the inn with a hint of hesitation in his eyes. However, in this desolate place, there was no other better choice, so he decided to stay here.

The three of them entered the inn. The interior was simply furnished, with several wooden tables and benches neatly arranged. In the corner stood a fireplace, a roaring fire burning inside, bringing a touch of warmth to the chilly night. The innkeeper, a portly, middle-aged man, greeted the guests with a broad smile.

"Welcome, would you like to stay in our hotel or have a meal?" the boss asked enthusiastically.

"Prepare three rooms for us and bring us some food," the great magician said. He pulled a few gold coins from his pocket and placed them on the table. The coins gleamed alluringly in the firelight. The owner's eyes lit up at the sight of the coins. He nodded and said, "Okay, sir, wait a moment. I'll arrange it for you right away." He turned and walked towards the kitchen, shouting, "Old woman, quickly prepare three rooms and bring us some good wine and food!"

After a while, the proprietress came out with a steaming meal. There was fragrant barbecue, fresh vegetable salad, and several large glasses of foaming beer. Li Fugui's mouth was watering at the sight of these delicious dishes. He couldn't wait to pick up a piece of barbecue and start eating it with big mouthfuls.

During the meal, the young knight struck up a conversation with the great magician and Li Fugui. It turned out his name was Arthur, an apprentice knight bound for the Imperial Capital to participate in the Knight Selection Tournament. Arthur's eyes were filled with longing and anticipation for the future; he hoped to excel in the tournament and become a true knight.

The Great Magician listened to Arthur's words, smiled and nodded, "Young man, it's good to have dreams. However, the road to the imperial capital is not smooth, so you must be fully prepared."

Arthur nodded seriously and said, "I know, Master Magician. I am ready to face all difficulties."

At this time, Li Fugui asked curiously: "Brother Arthur, why do you want to become a knight?"

Arthur thought for a moment and said, "When I was very young, I witnessed the bravery and justice of the knights. They were willing to sacrifice their lives to protect the people. From then on, I decided to become a knight and protect this continent like them."

After hearing this, Li Fugui was filled with admiration for Arthur. He said, "Brother Arthur, you will definitely succeed. When I become a powerful magician, we will protect the Magic Continent together."

Arthur looked at Li Fugui's determined eyes and said with a smile, "Okay, then it's a deal."
