Chapter 176 Dilemma
Chapter 176 Dilemma
Lin Zhenbiao's life was legendary.
He's always been the one being flattered; when has he ever been treated like this?
This girl, so much younger than me, mocked and ridiculed me in front of my grandson and best friend. She really is lawyer material; although each word wasn't meant to be insulting, the combination of sentences clearly belittled me.
Lin Zhenbiao's already sharp eyebrows instantly turned into blades, and his face was as black as the bottom of a pot. "You have some nerve, daring to talk to me like that? Do you even know what death means?"
Jiang Yan knew that Si Yi would absolutely not be able to tolerate what her grandfather had just said, but she did not expect her to say it so sharply.
In an instant, the already tense atmosphere became even more somber, as if the air pressure had suddenly dropped to freezing point. Everyone had different expressions on their faces, but the father and daughter from the Nan family couldn't interrupt and could only stand aside.
Lin Zhenbiao's face was as ugly as could be. Jiang Yan stood to the side, feeling more powerless than ever before. He was about to pull Siyi behind him and say something when Siyi moved faster than him. Her delicate eyebrows suddenly furrowed, and she sneered, "Old Master Lin, were you threatening me just now?"
Lin Zhenbiao was taken aback for a moment, then gave a cold laugh, "You're really a good lawyer, your mind works pretty fast. Are you trying to trick me into telling you something?"
His cold smile would instill fear in most people, after all, this old man was once a legendary figure who dominated the underworld, and the blood on his hands must have been considerable.
To be honest, Siyi wasn't entirely without fear.
Under these circumstances, she had no choice but to stand her ground. She raised her head, met Lin Zhenbiao's murky eyes filled with intense hostility, and spoke frankly, "I'm just stating a fact, and I don't need to trick you into saying anything. Weren't your words just now a threat to me?"
"So what if it's a threat?" Lin Zhenbiao narrowed his eyes, snorted, and said with disdain, "Are you planning to sue me for intimidation? I'm afraid you won't have the chance."
Siyi subconsciously clenched her uninjured hand. She was genuinely angry. This man was clearly showing contempt for the law, with an air of arrogance. Was the law just a decoration to someone like him?
She opened her mouth as if to say something, but Jiang Yan pulled her behind him with an irresistible force, his low voice full of warning, "That's enough, don't say anything more."
Siyi was stunned for a moment.
Was she seeing things correctly? Was that a warning look in his eyes? And his tone... as if she were the one being unreasonable, as if she was the one in the wrong?
Siyi felt her heart sink to the bottom of an endless abyss. It felt like she was adrift in a boundless ocean, about to drown, but someone had to hit her on the head a few more times.
My heart ached sharply.
“Grandpa, that’s not what Sisi meant. You should each keep quiet. She’s been burned and blisters have formed. I’ll take her to the hospital first.” Jiang Yanhui decisively interrupted the two, grabbing Siyi’s uninjured hand behind her. She glanced at Uncle Nan standing next to Lin Zhenbiao and politely said, “Uncle Nan, Uncle Qing, I’m so sorry about today. I’ll make up for this meal next time. I’ll be leaving now.”
Uncle Nan naturally couldn't say much, and could only smile and say it was alright. Lin Zhenbiao, however, shouted sharply, his tone even harsher than before, "Where are you going? If you dare to leave with this woman today, don't even think about letting your grandfather leave tomorrow!"
That's too much! If Yan Hui just takes her away, what will become of her in other people's eyes? Yan Hui dotes on this woman, does he expect him to be subservient to her? If Yan Hui hadn't been there, he could have easily snapped his fingers and had several people tear her apart. That arrogant brat, if we don't teach her a lesson, she won't realize how wrong she is.
Jiang Yan's heart sank; she knew that if things continued like this, it would never end.
He understood Lin Zhenbiao; the reason he was so angry was simply because Sisi had offended him.
At this point, all he could do was bite the bullet and say, "Grandpa, why are you saying that? Why bother arguing with an injured woman? This girl is sharp-tongued, and I've certainly suffered at her hands. She also has a bad temper, but what she said just now wasn't malicious. She's used to being a lawyer, and she likes to argue with everyone she hears. Grandpa, please be magnanimous and don't take it to heart. I'll take her to the hospital and we'll be back right away, okay?"
Siyi could hardly believe her ears. At that moment, she felt like a completely isolated person.
Yes, I was completely isolated.
So that's how he sees me. So those things she just said were pretty much considered unreasonable by him. So that's why...
She angrily shook off Jiang Yan's hand, took two steps back, and looked at him in disbelief, her eyes filled with disappointment.
Jiang Yan was focused on Lin Zhenbiao and didn't notice that someone had already shaken off her back. She quickly turned around and saw Si Yi looking at her with a face full of despair. Her heart sank even further, and she couldn't help but curse under her breath.
He reached out to pull her again, but Siyi dodged him faster.
Her cold, clear voice carried immense grievance; though she desperately tried to suppress it, her resentment was still palpable between the lines.
"Young Master Yan, my presence here today was by chance. I never expected it would ruin your plans. I'm truly sorry. Young Master Yan, you don't need to say anything more for someone as unrelated as me. I'll go to the hospital myself."
After she finished speaking, she didn't look at him again and turned to walk to the other end of the corridor.
Jiang Yan Hui felt uncomfortable hearing her call him "Young Master Yan" repeatedly. Just as he was about to chase after her, Lin Zhen Biao quickly blocked his way. "Yan Hui, if you still consider me your grandfather, then go back to your meal. If you dare to chase after her, don't say I didn't warn you. If you really piss me off, the girl will be the one who suffers in the end."
Jiang Yan's heart skipped a beat, and the light in her eyes slowly turned cold. "Grandpa, don't touch her, no matter who you touch." 13acv.
Lin Zhenbiao couldn't bear to see his beloved grandson so devoted to protecting that woman. He was furious and coldly hissed, "Why can't I touch her? Based on what she just said to me, I'd be letting her die ten times over!"
"Grandpa."
"You still know to call me Grandpa, so you'd better behave. Yan Hui, Grandpa can give you anything, but don't cross the line in some things. With that woman's temperament, do you think she's good enough for you? Not to mention she has a promiscuous mother. What's so good about someone like her? Maybe she's only getting close to you with ulterior motives. You're usually so smart, how come you're so confused right now?"
“She is her, and Guan Fengru is Guan Fengru. I have never confused them. Besides, you don’t understand her at all, and you have no right to say such things about her.”
"What did you say?" Lin Zhenbiao stared, his eyes wide. "You said I'm not qualified?"
"Grandpa, I don't want to argue with you. What happened just now was a misunderstanding. Also, don't make any moves on her. If something really happens to her, you'll definitely regret your decision."
Jiang Yan left after saying this, but Lin Zhenbiao wouldn't let her have her way. He gave a deep shout, and several bodyguards in black, all of them tall and strong, immediately rushed out from all around.
The leading man stood respectfully in front of Jiang Yan Hui, and Lin Zhen Biao said, "Stop the young master and let him go back and reflect on his actions."
"Yes!"
Immediately, people rushed up to try and trap Jiang Yan.
Jiang Yan turned around, her expression darkening, and nimbly dodged to the side.
However, the others surrounded him. Although they didn't dare to really hurt him when they attacked, Jiang Yan Hui was also very skilled.
However, there were many people, and these people were all well-trained and capable of protecting Lin Zhenbiao in secret; they were all top-notch experts.
Jiang Yan quickly realized that it would be very difficult for her to escape today.
Just as he was in a great distress, a pair of hands suddenly came across and grabbed the wrist that was about to touch Jiang Yan's shoulder. Nan Qingshu moved very quickly, and with a grab and a push, he pushed the bodyguard away. "Grandpa, tell them to stop."
She always called Lin Zhenbiao "Grandpa" along with Jiang Yan.
Lin Zhenbiao was furious.
But he didn't really want to attack Jiang Yanhui. Besides, the kid was very skilled, and it wouldn't be easy to take him down.
Now that Qing Shu girl has been added to the mix, he naturally can no longer order his men to take action.
After thinking for a moment, he made a gesture, and the men in black disappeared at the end of the corridor in no time.
As soon as those people left, Nan Qingshu grabbed Jiang Yanhui's wrist and stepped in to smooth things over, "Grandpa, can't we talk things out? We're all family. Brother Yanhui is your most precious son. How could you bear to lay a hand on him?"
Lin Zhenbiao snorted, "He's already siding with outsiders, I'm just telling him to go back and reflect on his actions."
"Grandpa, you..."
"Brother Yan Hui."
Jiang Yan was interrupted by Nan Qingshu as she was about to speak. She smiled slightly, but addressed Lin Zhenbiao, "Grandpa, we definitely can't have this meal today. I know you're angry, but this is a hotel after all. It wouldn't be good if someone with ulterior motives saw this. If this gets published in the newspapers tomorrow, wouldn't that just provide entertainment for everyone? How about this, let the driver take you and Dad home first, and I'll take care of bringing Brother Yan Hui home. That way you can rest assured, right?"
