He broke his vows for her, and a tycoon descended to earth for love.

Chapter 142 She Will Come

Chapter 142 She Will Come

Siyi sat by Ye Xiongming's bedside the whole time, her phone in her bag.

Because it was on vibrate, she didn't notice her phone ringing at first.

Ye Zhenghao had just bought a bowl of porridge and came in from outside. When he passed the sofa, he noticed that there was a continuous vibration sound. He walked closer to Siyi and said in a low voice, "It's your phone ringing."

Siyi absentmindedly said "Oh," and then slowly stood up. When she walked to the sofa and picked up her phone, it had stopped vibrating. She was restless and too lazy to see who had called. Just as she was about to put it back in her hand, her palm went numb again.

The screen automatically brightened, displaying a string of incoming call messages. Siyi looked at the glaring three words and felt a lump in her throat. Almost instinctively, she pressed the reject button.

But when she pressed the reject button, she discovered that her phone displayed twenty-five missed calls.

Twenty-five…

Her heart pounded, and her throat tightened again. He had made so many phone calls. What was he trying to do?

The phone screen suddenly flickered on and off again. Siyi stared at the three words that appeared, feeling as if her heart was being torn between two extreme forces.

Why would he call himself so many times?

Is something wrong?

I've answered his calls before, but he never calls more than five times, nor does he call me so frequently in such a short period of time.

But should she accept?

Thinking of her father still lying in bed, her thumb seemed frozen in place, unable to press down no matter what she did.

"What's wrong? Who called?"

Ye Zhenghao suddenly leaned close to her ear and whispered something. Siyi was startled by the sudden voice and instinctively hid her phone behind her back. Her face stiffened. "N-nothing."

Seeing her strange and nervous expression, Ye Zhenghao's meticulous mind quickly connected the dots. He narrowed his eyes and reached out to her, "Is it his phone? Siyi, give me your phone."

Siyi pursed her lips and said, "Big brother, I didn't plan to answer the phone. You don't need to be so defensive. Don't worry, Dad is still like this. I won't do anything reckless again."

Since she had already said that, Ye Zhenghao couldn't force her to do anything more. Besides, Siyi was indeed not the kind of person who lacked discretion. If she wanted to answer the phone, she would have already avoided him to answer it earlier.

He nodded. "Turn off your phone. Dad might wake up at any time..." As he spoke, his phone rang in his pocket. He took it out and glanced at it. It was probably a call from the police station. He walked away with a somber expression. "I'll take this call first."

Siyi watched Ye Zhenghao walk a little further away before taking out her phone. Her palms were still tingling, the screen was still flashing, and the three words at the top were still so eye-catching. She sighed weakly, her chest feeling so tight she almost fainted. She could only press her temples hard with her hand to try and clear her mind.

But this time, the man on the other end seemed determined, and he was really going to keep calling her, as if he would keep calling if she didn't answer.

Siyi didn't answer in the end. Instead, she unplugged the battery, threw the phone into her bag, and sat down by Ye Xiongming's bed, staring blankly into space.

It's unclear how much time passed before Ye Zhenghao finally came in. Seeing Siyi sitting on the edge of the bed, he leaned closer to her and whispered, "Siyi, there's something going on at the police station, I have to go back. You stay here with your father for now, and call me immediately if anything happens."

Siyi gave a weak "oh". Ye Zhenghao saw that she looked very haggard and thought for a moment before saying, "Why don't you go and rest first? There are rooms next door anyway."

"No need," she said, forcing herself to stay awake. "I'm right here, I'm fine."

Ye Zhenghao didn't say anything more, gave her a few more instructions, and then turned and left.

When Yu Chengfeng arrived at the police station, Jiang Yan was sitting on a stool with her legs crossed. A junior police officer was sitting opposite her, probably taking her statement. However, seeing the very strained expression on his face, he knew that he wouldn't be able to get any information from her.

He rushed over after receiving a phone call in the middle of the night.

He was actually quite startled. How could Yan Hui possibly be at the police station? The place he hated most in his life was the police station. Even if he had really committed some crime, he had a huge legal team behind him. Who could possibly have the ability to get Young Master Yan to the police station?

Along the way, he also thought that he might run into Ye Zhenghao again, which would be hard to say.

But now, looking around, where is Ye Zhenghao? This isn't the police station where Ye Zhenghao works at all, and there are hardly any people on duty. Instead, he's sitting there with a great interest, treating the police station like a teahouse. There's a cup next to him, and the ashtray in front of him is piled high with cigarette butts. It seems he's been sitting there for quite a while.

Yu Chengfeng stepped forward. "Yan Hui, what happened?"

Jiang Yan spent most of the night at the police station. Her shirt was wrinkled and stained with large patches of blood on the sleeves. Her expression was somewhat listless, and she had developed a bluish-brown stubble on her chin. However, her eyes were clear. When she saw Yu Chengfeng, she merely smiled, her voice hoarse from smoking too much, "Don't you already know? That's how it is."

Yu Chengfeng knew he was in a bad mood lately.

He roughly learned what had happened while on the way.

The person behind him pulled out a stool for him, and he sat down after pulling up his trouser leg. "That person was seriously injured, but it should be nothing serious. There's no need for you to come to the police station for this. I've already notified your lawyer, and he'll take you out in a bit."

The young policeman across from him finally couldn't help but interject, "The lawyer's here, isn't he? That's for the best. I've been with him all night, and he won't say a word. Young Master Yan, you can afford to waste police resources like this." He stood up, picked up the statement on the table, and shook his head. "I'll come over and take his statement when the lawyer arrives."

That night, the young master refused to say anything. In fact, those who brought him back had already mostly disappeared after learning his identity. He was new, so this mess was naturally left to him.

He tried to get him to give a statement in a polite and courteous manner. He thought that if it was about time, he would let him go home first, since the hospital had already called and the person who was beaten had passed the critical period.

He suffered some injuries, but there was no danger to his life.

But this young master Yan seems to have taken some kind of medicine today; he refuses to leave or speak, just sitting there lazily, constantly making phone calls.

He said he had the right to remain silent until his lawyer arrived.

He had been sitting with him for most of the night.

As soon as the policeman left the room, Jiang Yan flicked her cigarette ash and said in a deep voice, "There's no need to find those lawyers from the Jiang family. I don't need them."

Yu Chengfeng raised his eyebrows in suppressed anger. "What do you mean?"

After a moment, he realized what was happening. "Yan Hui, you wouldn't be thinking...you're waiting for Ye Siyi?"

We're really good brothers, there's no need to spell things out, we both know what's going on.

Jiang Yan didn't reply immediately. He held a cigarette between his fingers, squinting as he smoked, while in the other hand he held his phone, his thumb stroking the smooth screen. After a long while, he said in a low voice, "I don't believe she would be indifferent if she knew I was here."

"Is that why you severely injured that person?"

Yu Chengfeng sighed, feeling that the man in front of him was a bit obsessed. "If she doesn't want to come, are you planning to live here for the rest of your life?"

"No offense."

Jiang Yan narrowed her eyes with certainty, exhaled a cloud of smoke, and said in a low, hoarse voice, "She will come."

Yu Chengfeng felt helpless. He knew before that Yan Hui cared a lot about Ye Siyi, but now he felt that it was more than just caring; it was to the point of being obsessed.

He didn't know exactly what had happened to the two of them, but he could roughly guess. One was the mother and the other was the father, both of whom had disappeared. The twists and turns in between couldn't be explained in just a few words.

"You called me here, is there something you need me to do?" Since he had already made up his mind, Yu Chengfeng knew that there was no point in saying anything more. Now he was just hoping that Ye Siyi would come over as soon as possible.

Jiang Yan snorted and tapped the table absently with his long fingers. "Go back and have someone write a report about what happened at the airport yesterday. I want the whole city to know what happened." Since she wouldn't answer his calls, he would find another way to let her know.

Yu Chengfeng was taken aback, but quickly realized what he meant. "You're not trying to lure Ye Siyi here like this, are you?"

Jiang Yan didn't say anything and continued to smoke in silence.

Yu Chengfeng saw that the ashtray in front of him was already overflowing, but he still couldn't help but reach out and press down on his wrist. "Yan Hui, you should smoke less of this stuff. You can get addicted if you smoke too much."

He had always known that Jiang Yanhui added something to the cigarettes she smoked. He used to smoke these when he was in a bad mood, and over time, the more he smoked them, the more agitated he became.

Jiang Yan glanced at him sideways, a self-deprecating smile curving her lips, her voice even more alluring with its husky tone, "Addicted? If you're really only addicted to this, there's nothing wrong with that."

Yu Chengfeng knew there was something hidden in his words, so he didn't say anything more. Looking at the time, which was already past three in the morning, he hesitated for a moment before saying, "Then I'll be going now."
