Chapter 452: I Still Haven’t Forgiven Your Brutality That Night
"What are you saying!" Evelyn whispered, "Uncle, don’t move around. Your wound is very deep, the doctor said you should lie down these days. I’ll go find the doctor and have them check on you again."
"I already said..."
"Why are you trying to act tough!" Evelyn suddenly shouted, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Seeing his bewildered expression, she continued to shout, "Even at the kidnapping site, you were shot and yet stayed silent, as if nothing happened. But then, halfway..."
It’s as if, he looked like he was dead.
Before getting confirmation that Caden Lockwood was alive, Evelyn was completely shattered.
She feared Caden would die and also feared something would happen to him.
She hated him, resented him, blamed him, was angry with him. Why did he always disregard his own life?
Noticing the sparkle of tears in Evelyn’s eyes, her eyes were always red, Caden could only point at the button on the bedside, kindly reminded, "Just press the button and the doctor will come, you don’t have to leave."
Evelyn hesitated, not daring to meet Caden’s gaze.
She bowed her head, like she was guilty of something, and went to press the button.
Caden’s smile deepened, glancing at Evelyn up and down, he laughed, "I think you sing ’Two Tigers’ really well."
"Hey!" Evelyn said in embarrassment and annoyance, "Don’t act all innocent while taking advantage of me!"
"Silly Evelyn." Caden realized, he loved giving Evelyn nicknames randomly, "I reckon, in the whole world, only you would sing ’Two Tigers’ at a time like that."
"That’s enough!" Evelyn stomped in anger, "If you tease me again, I’ll go home and let Aunt May take care of you."
"Then I’ll just follow you home." Caden responded in a calm tone, "If my wound gets hurt or bleeds heavily, it’ll be all on you."
Evelyn had no way to deal with it.
When did she ever win against a devil like Caden?
Luckily, the doctor arrived shortly, after giving Caden a rough check-up, confirmed he needed rest, and left the room.
The room suddenly turned quiet, leaving only Evelyn and Caden, making Evelyn feel somewhat awkward.
She secretly glanced at Caden, noticing he was also looking at her, she quickly averted her eyes, her heart pounding wildly as if it would leap out.
An unconscious smile tugged at her lips—him being alive was the best gift from Heaven to her.
Thinking back now, Evelyn still felt scared.
How did she manage to cope all the way with her hands covered in Caden’s blood back then?
"Honey." Caden suddenly spoke, pointing to the empty spot beside him, "Come to the bed."
"No way." Evelyn shook her head quickly, "Even though this is a VIP room and the bed’s bigger, but you have wounds, with me here, you..."
"Don’t go against your husband." Caden interrupted Evelyn, "I’m a patient now, can’t you just indulge me a little?"
"If you keep being unreasonable like this, I’ll really leave!" Evelyn said coldly, "Don’t forget, I haven’t forgiven you for what you did to me yet!"
After speaking, Evelyn realized she’d misspoken again.
Why did she bring up what happened that night for no reason?
Is now really the time to talk about such things?
"To save you, I almost lost my life." Caden’s tone carried a hint of roguishness, "Honey, aren’t you being too ungrateful?"
"I!"
"Get up here." Caden commanded, "I have something to tell you."
