Chapter 300 Trigger Point
Chapter 300 Trigger Point
Meanwhile, Qiu Pi sat on a bench nearby, holding his head in his hands.
Hearing footsteps, Qiu Pi looked up. "Ice!"
A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, and he stood up to walk towards her, but then, as if remembering something, he turned his head in confusion to look at the emergency room. Hearing the commotion, Peng Yuxian also turned his head, and when his gaze first fell on Geng Miaowan, his eyes, like Qiu Pi's, flashed with a spark, but it was extinguished in an instant, turning back to a dull gray.
He ignored her and turned back to look at the closed door of the emergency room.
“You…” Qiu Pi walked up to Geng Miaowan, stared at her for a long time, and then hesitated before saying, “You…aren’t you Bing?”
He no longer recognized her because the date had been reset to the original February 14th, a day when they didn't even know each other.
Geng Miaowan smiled slightly at him, "I'm sorry, I'm not the ice you're talking about."
They didn't linger in the hospital. After confirming their suspicions, Geng Miaowan, Xu Ruwen, and Huangfu Aohan left the hospital. Of course, before leaving, she didn't forget to ask for Peng Yuxian's address.
They discussed things as they walked back.
"Break the eternal barrier, how exactly do we break it?" A faint white figure suddenly appeared beside Geng Miaowan. Upon seeing him, she said excitedly, "Luan Hao, we finally understand the whole meaning of this mission!"
A smile graced her face, the bright streetlights casting a soft golden glow on her skin. Her eyes, gleaming with an unusual light, sparkled as she looked at Luan Hao, like a child eagerly awaiting adult approval.
Luan Hao was clearly not very interested in what she was saying, or rather, he didn't care whether she knew the full meaning of the mission. He simply said indifferently, "Is that so? Then how do we complete this mission?"
That hit the nail on the head. It struck at the heart of the matter, and Geng Miaowan immediately deflated, unsure how to respond. She had absolutely no clue how to break this eternal seal.
The next morning, Geng Miaowan walked out of the room amidst the screams of the hotel staff, much to her surprise. Knowing the reason, they remained calm this time, and after the manager arrived, they calmly had the hotel re-register them.
Xu Ruwen looked at the waiter with a mournful gaze as he wrote down their information with a red-cased pen.
After seeing Manager Jin and the waiter off, Xu Ruwen sighed. "Does this mean we'll have to do this registration every day from now on...?"
Geng Miaowan patted his head, but of course, he dodged it. "Instead of complaining, you should hurry up and find a breakthrough."
Having obtained Peng Yuxian's address, she instructed Huangfu Aohan to follow him and observe his daily activities. In her words, Huangfu Aohan, being a small dog, was easy to track due to his small size and low profile.
She and Xu Ruwen strolled around the city, hoping to find some clues. Because he was afraid of frightening others, Luan Hao rarely went out during the day; even when he did, he would only stay in his room for a short while.
When he returned in the evening, Huangfu Aohan told them everything he had seen and heard from Peng Yuxian throughout the day.
After leaving home, Peng Yuxian hurriedly got into his car and drove to the company. He was stuck in traffic for fifteen minutes, so he was a few minutes late. However, he seemed to be in a good mood; even after being called in and criticized by his boss, he didn't seem upset.
At noon, he ate a boxed lunch at the company. After lunch, he took advantage of his lunch break to go to a jewelry store and bought a diamond ring with his hard-earned savings of many years.
The diamond wasn't very big. Because they had just bought a car and were still paying off the mortgage, this was the only size they could afford for now. He planned to get her a bigger one later when they had more money.
Peng Yuxian put the ring in his pocket and hurried back to the company, arriving just in time for work, without missing a beat.
After work, he rushed to the airport, where he encountered Lu Bing and Qiu Pi. The two got into a fight, and Lu Bing was accidentally hit by a car. After learning that Lu Bing was dead, he left the hospital in a daze, went to a mountain, sat there for a while, and then jumped off the mountain.
"No...no way..." Geng Miaowan was stunned. Peng Yuxian didn't seem like the kind of person who would do such a thing.
“I saw it with my own eyes, how could it be false?” Huangfu Aohan expressed his dissatisfaction with her distrust. “Moreover, he jumped off the mountain at exactly midnight, and I saw his figure disappear in mid-air.”
“Now here’s the problem.” Geng Miaowan’s gaze swept over Luan Hao, Xu Ruwen and Huangfu Aohan. “Any abnormal thing has a trigger point. If we want to break this restriction, then we must find the trigger point of the Eternal City. I think as long as we find this trigger point, it will definitely not be difficult to break it.”
"Do you know what the trigger point is?" Xu Ruwen asked.
Luan Hao leaned back on the sofa, watching her silently, seemingly more interested in her as a person than in her question. Huangfu Aohan, on the other hand, lay sprawled on the floor, as if he hadn't heard her question at all.
Geng Miaowan thought for a moment and said, "Actually, I've been thinking about this for a long time. It's good to bring it up now so we can all discuss it together."
Then, she said what was on her mind: "I think since this matter is related to Peng Yuxian, then the trigger point must be found in him. And I think the most likely trigger point is that Peng Yuxian committed suicide because of Lu Bing's accidental death."
The reason she didn't mention Qiu Pi was because he had been abroad before this, and he didn't seem suspicious. The main reason was that Geng Miaowan had some subjective biases, feeling that Peng Yuxian was far more affected by Lu Bing's death than Qiu Pi.
Xu Ruwen nodded, agreeing with her point. "So what should we do?"
Geng Miaowan's beautiful black eyes darted around, something flashing within them.
The next day, they began again amidst the screams of the waiters. (To be continued.)
