Chapter 149 That's Mine
Chapter 149 That's Mine
Duan Yiheng's tie was loosened and deformed. He looked as if he had been soaked in alcohol, mixed with the messy smell of the bar, and smelled really bad.
He frowned as he took off his clothes, which startled Lin Xi, who then placed the hangover soup on the bedside table and abruptly turned around to grab his hand.
"What are you going to do?"
Duan Yiheng slowly and coldly uttered two words: "Take a bath."
“No,” Lin Xi pulled his open collar inwards, “You’re drunk, it’s dangerous for you to take a bath.”
Duan Yiheng's mind was actually very clear, but he was physically weak, and he knew he wasn't home.
"Where is Duan Mingxuan?" He looked around. "Where is he? Tell him to come see me."
Lin Xi shook her head: "He's not here."
"Huh?" Duan Yiheng looked up at the person whose face was not very clear. "Didn't you say he was waiting for you downstairs?"
I only remembered this when I was drunk.
Lin Xi turned around, picked up the hangover soup, and said, "Open your mouth, drink it, and go to sleep."
Duan Yiheng stared at her: "Where's Duan Mingxuan?"
"He didn't come." Lin Xi held the hangover soup to his lips. "Drink up, we have important business to attend to tomorrow."
"Why didn't he come?" Duan Yiheng leaned back. "I want to ask him, what right does he have?"
"He's not qualified, and I won't be with him." Lin Xi said helplessly, then put the spoon to his lips again.
Duan Yiheng finally opened his mouth, seemingly having taken her words to heart.
After he finished the bowl of soup, Lin Xi helped him lie down.
It was a bit dirty, but she really couldn't carry him to wash up. She'd deal with it tomorrow morning.
Duan Yiheng couldn't withstand the effects of the strong liquor and fell asleep shortly afterward.
Lin Xi didn't dare to look at him more than twice.
She went to the guest room, but couldn't sleep, so she just stared blankly at the ceiling.
The next morning, Lin Xi woke up five minutes earlier than her alarm clock.
Duan Yiheng looked around in the master bedroom, and paused when his gaze fell on the music box on the bedside table.
He reached out his long arm, picked it up, opened it, and found two photos inside.
One photo is of him, and the other is of her; they took photos of each other.
Duan Yiheng chuckled softly; Lin Xi's words and actions contradicted each other's logic.
Why keep someone's photo if you don't like them?
Duan Yiheng's dark eyes were filled with a dangerous glint as he stared at the photo.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
The next second, Lin Xi pushed the door open and entered, her eyes changing when she saw what he was holding.
She walked over, about to take her music box, when Duan Yiheng dodged her.
"What are you doing? Give it back to me." Lin Xi tried to reach for it again, but the long-limbed man dodged her.
After trying several times without success, Lin Xi stopped and looked at him sullenly.
Duan Yiheng didn't soften his stance and said, "I can give it back to you, but give me my photo."
Lin Xi bit her lip and whispered, "That's mine."
"What do you mean 'your'? Did I agree to it?" Duan Yiheng, taking advantage of his height, took out the photos from the box.
"No!" Lin Xi lunged forward to snatch it. "I took that picture for you, and you agreed to it."
Duan Yiheng didn't try to take advantage of her like before; he didn't hug her waist or put his arm around her shoulder.
He suddenly stood up and crumpled the birthday photo she had taken of him into a ball.
"Duan Yiheng!" Lin Xi cried out, trying to stop him. "Why are you destroying my things?"
Duan Yiheng blocked her with one hand. His dark eyes, devoid of the drunkenness of the previous night, now held a cruel glint in them, and his tone was even more so:
"I'm right in front of you, and you're looking at the same photo all day. Besides, you said we've broken up. As the person involved, don't I have the right to get the photo back? I don't want you looking at my photo? Is there a problem with that?"
Tears welled up in her eyes, but Lin Xi endured the excruciating pain. Compared to what she had given Duan Yiheng, these few words were utterly insignificant.
She shook her head, her voice trembling slightly: "No problem."
“Very good,” Duan Yiheng said. “I’ll throw the photos away.”
"Don't throw it away." Lin Xi said, suppressing a sob in her throat. "Take it back with you. You can put it anywhere. It's not good to throw it away."
Business people believe in feng shui and fortune telling. The way photos are handled is also related to personal fortune. It is said that throwing away photos casually can interfere with one's destiny.
Duan Yiheng stuffed the photo into his pocket.
"Go take a shower first," Lin Xi said, head down. "The driver will be here soon to bring you clothes."
The moment she turned around, Duan Yiheng saw the tears she was throwing up.
He clenched his fist and tried his best to restrain himself from following.
Lin Xi returned to her guest room and slid down to the floor, leaning against the door.
She hugged herself and cried silently for about ten minutes until the driver called.
Lin Xi stood up, went to the bathroom to wash her face, and the driver brought breakfast over.
There was a restaurant in the apartment, and looking at the breakfast bag, Lin Xi knew that Sister Mei had asked him to bring it.
She said nothing, but told the driver, "Take the clothes to him."
In just one night, stubble has already grown.
Lin Xi's bathroom didn't have a razor, so she had to call the housekeeper. In less than ten minutes, a razor was delivered, along with a shaving brush, shaving foam, a towel, and aftershave.
The brand of electric shaver is one that Duan Yiheng usually uses.
He placed the item on the table, then turned to the driver who was collecting the dirty clothes and said, "Leave it there."
The driver was taken aback: "I put the clothes in the trunk."
"No need," Duan Yiheng said. "I'll come back to pick it up later. I'm meeting someone today, so don't put random things in the car."
The driver was puzzled, thinking that putting it in the trunk wouldn't make a difference.
But since the boss gave the order, he had no choice but to comply.
When Duan Yiheng came out of the bathroom, Lin Xi had already set out breakfast on the dining table.
"Come and eat," Lin Xi said. "I'm going to change my clothes."
Duan Yiheng pulled out a chair and sat down. It was still early, so he ate his breakfast slowly.
We had arranged to have lunch at 11:00 AM, so we still had three hours.
After changing her clothes, Lin Xi dawdled as she went to the restaurant to eat. When she saw Duan Yiheng still sitting there, her heart tightened.
"You can get full just by standing?" Duan Yiheng looked at her. "Come and eat."
Lin Xi walked over slowly.
Duan Yiheng glanced at the driver out of the corner of his eye: "You go down and wait here."
The driver responded honestly; he didn't want to stand there either, feeling quite uncomfortable.
Lin Xi sat down opposite Duan Yiheng, silently picked up a shrimp dumpling, and ate it for two or three minutes.
They didn't seem to have much of an appetite.
Neither of them spoke while eating, especially Lin Xi, who quietly passed the time.
Just as she was relieved to see Duan Yiheng finish eating, he asked her:
"Did you keep your word about what you said last night?"
Lin Xi looked up: "What did you say?"
Duan Yiheng wiped his hands with a tissue and said slowly, "Duan Mingxuan, you said you wouldn't be with him."
