How did I turn my victim into a phoenix-like hero?

“…”

"Do not make jokes."

Sirocco lowered his eyes, his tone carrying three parts anger, six parts resentment, and a hint of surprise:

"Think about what would have happened if you hadn't come, Cass. I would be the one at the bottom now, not this redhead."

"!"

Cass murmured:

"Yes, Cliff is the enemy. He is not strong enough and cannot protect himself. This is the fate of the loser."

A gentle breeze ruffled Cass's bangs, and a hint of ruthlessness appeared in his eyes.

Sirocco felt that Cass's understanding was a bit off, but the general idea seemed correct.

It should be fine... Anyway, let Cass know not to be soft-hearted towards evil people.

"Sirocco. Lead the way, let's go grind some monsters."

"Nice expression."

Kas was very proactive, so Sirocco readily agreed to lead the way.

“…”

Sirocco glanced at Cliff one last time, raising his thin eyebrows.

"Consider yourself lucky to have escaped death."

Sirocco whispered.

As expected of the protagonist's early-game final boss.

I only regret that I didn't draw my knife and stab him in the neck back then.

But even if that attack came, Cliff might not die.

The rustling sounds coming from the coniferous forest were most likely from Brid and her rescue team arriving.

Lv10, or perhaps luck, or perhaps... the world's corrective power.

Whatever the possibility, Sirocco was somewhat certain.

Today is definitely not Cliff's day of reckoning.

On April 10th, at 8:10 PM, Cliff fell off a cliff.

Hilock added another entry to the journal of the ring table.

37. Maple Garden

"This way!"

Brid led five rescue team members to the edge of the cliff.

Originally there were 7 team members, but halfway through, they saw Ral lying on the ground unconscious in an ORZ pose, so two team members carried him away.

Brid wanted to tell them to ignore the trash, but to save time, she didn't argue with the rescue team.

Brid checked the location again; it was indeed this place.

When everyone arrived, they saw a weathered suspension bridge on the edge of the cliff. There were only messy footprints and a large pool of blood at the scene, and no one was there.

"Is this really here?"

"....Yes."

Brid felt a little guilty.

The rescue team first took out the box, infused it with magic, and activated a barrier that would not easily attract the attention of monsters, and then began the search.

Brid checked LINE again, wanting to ask Cass what was going on.

What happened to those two? And where are those bastards Cliff...?

Could it be that they encountered monsters along the way and were wiped out?

Have we fallen into an unpredictable trap?

Encountering the Fallen Order?

With no new intelligence or clues, Brid, lost in thought, worried about the two of them.

Could my judgment have been wrong? Should I have tried to grab Sirocco and escape? ...

Apple risotto...

If Sirocco weren't around, we wouldn't be able to have such a delicious breakfast.

cuckoo-

Thinking too much caused Brid to experience another stomach upset.

Just as Brid was wondering what to do next, a message from Sirocco appeared on her LINE.

Brid quickly checked:

—Cass and I are safe and sound and have already returned home. You should go home soon too.—

Very good.....

While surprised, Brid also had some questions.

—Are you hurt? What are you doing in Dungeon City so late at night? What do Cliff and the others want with you?—

—How is Cliff?—

Brid looked around and saw no trace of Cliff or the others, except for the busy rescue team.

—It's not clear yet—

—Okay. Cass and I are both fine, and we can train tomorrow morning. I was just unlucky to run into them while grinding monsters today; they wanted to take their anger out on me, that's all—

Venting anger...

Brid immediately thought of what Cliff and the others had done in Class E.

Bullying the weak is a disgrace to the strong.

No, those people don't deserve the title of strongmen at all; they're just a bunch of brutes with great strength.

She hates people who think they can do whatever they want just because they have a little power.

—You're really not hurt, don't lie to me, right?—

Sirocco sent me a photo of a window and a table; the image was strangely dark.

—? —

—I'm in my room—

Brid finally felt relieved.

—It's good that you're alright—

While I was sending a message, someone suddenly shouted from behind:

"Here! Get a 50-meter, no, an 80-meter safety rope... never mind, get as long as you can! Get your weapons ready, send two people down to fish them up."

Strange, didn't Sirocco say everything was fine?

Brid also stepped forward to take a look, and the horrific scene before her made her unconsciously hold her breath.

Three people, barely recognizable as human, lay at the bottom of the valley. One had his left hand and right foot twisted like a pretzel, half of his face embedded in a stone, blood splattering everywhere. Another had his lower body hanging from a tree branch, with a slime lying on the cross-section of his upper body. Inside the monster's transparent, viscous bubble-like body, one could see the deceased's floating organs. The third person was still conscious, and thanks to the red hair, he could barely be recognized as Cliff.

He was muttering something, covered in blood, dragging his left leg which was bent outward at an exaggerated 90° angle, and waving his fists, trying to drive away three nearly 3-meter-long vampire bats that were gnawing at his body.

"You slipped and fell?"

This was Bridgman's first idea.

After the rescue team drove away the nearby monsters, they carried up two unfamiliar corpses and Cliff.

"This guy is really tough. He fell from such a height, with lots of monsters below, and he actually survived... But with these injuries, he'll probably be bedridden for at least a month."

Why doesn't he just die?

Brid listened to the rescue team's sentiments, but felt a pang of regret in her heart.

At this moment, Brid finally heard what Cliff was saying.

Cliff spat out blood, his expression contorted with rage and hatred.

"Sirocco! I'm going to kill you! I absolutely... I absolutely must kill you... I want... Sirocco..."

"Hey! What did you say? Sirocco? What did he do to you?"

Brid went up to question him, but Cliff only cursed Sirocco before being carried away.

After explaining to the rescue team that her companion was safe and sound, Brid left the first floor with them.

On the way, Brid recalled the whole incident, and the more she thought about it, the more something seemed off.

The reason is that Sirocco was able to escape even after taking a hit from Cliff...
