Chapter 371 Crisis in Four Directions
Chapter 371 Crisis in Four Directions
Early morning sunlight streamed into the room through the curtains. Lin Chuyue sat on the sofa, clutching the contract Gu Yanchuan had just delivered, her mind a jumble of thoughts. She pondered for a long time, still unable to make a final decision. Li Zhanchuan's words were like a double-edged sword, leaving her in turmoil. She knew she had to choose—to stand with her father, or to join forces with Li Zhanchuan to uncover the truth.
At this time, the cell phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
She hesitated and answered the phone.
"Lin Chuyue, it's me." A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone—Gu Yanchuan.
"Good morning, Mr. Gu." She tried her best to appear calm, but her heart was racing involuntarily.
“I heard you had a conversation with Li Zhanchuan yesterday.” Gu Yanchuan’s tone seemed unsurprised. “I know you are confused right now, but you should also know that if you don’t make a choice in the face of Shen Fang’s death and your father’s actions, you will be swallowed up by this vortex sooner or later.”
Lin Chuyue's heart tightened. She suddenly realized that Gu Yanchuan wasn't just paying attention to her choices; he had actually seen through her every move. She took a deep breath, suppressing her emotions, and calmly asked, "Mr. Gu, how did you know all this?"
"Do you think I don't know?" Gu Yanchuan's voice remained calm, but carried a hint of barely suppressed emotion. "You are in a very dangerous position right now. Shen Fang's death is not just a simple conspiracy; behind it lies a power struggle that could shake the entire business empire. Lin Chuyue, if you choose to stand with Li Zhanchuan, you will not only be going against your father, but you will also face pressure from even greater forces."
Lin Chuyue's eyes lit up slightly. Gu Yanchuan's words made her realize a truth—behind this storm was far more than just the grudges between her, her father, and Shen Fang. She was about to face a vast chessboard, a game involving not only her but also many more hidden forces.
"Are you trying to tell me that I should be on your side?" Her tone was cold, yet tinged with sarcasm.
“I don’t want to force you to choose anything,” Gu Yanchuan said in a low voice, “but you must know that if you choose to uncover the truth, an unforeseen disaster may await you. You will lose a lot, and you may even lose everything.”
Lin Chuyue didn't respond. She knew Gu Yanchuan wasn't threatening her, but rather trying to warn her. However, she wasn't afraid of losing anything, because she had already lost too much—her father, her trust, even her own life—everything was quietly changing.
"Mr. Gu, I understand," she said softly. "Thank you for reminding me."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. Gu Yanchuan seemed to be waiting for her decision, but he didn't press her further: "It's up to you. I'll be on your side when you need help."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Chuyue remained standing by the window, gazing at the gradually brightening streets outside. Her heart was heavy; the choice before her felt like an insurmountable chasm, and she couldn't see the scenery on the other side.
Just then, a rapid knocking sound came from outside the door, breaking her reverie.
She raised an eyebrow, quickly walked over, and opened the door. Standing outside was a strange man, dressed in a black suit, with a serious expression.
“Miss Lin Chuyue, I am Li Zhanchuan’s assistant.” The man appeared calm, but there was a hint of urgency in his tone. “Mr. Li asked me to tell you that there is an important meeting tonight, and you must attend.”
Lin Chuyue was taken aback, and almost instinctively asked, "What meeting?"
"Regarding the cause of Shen Fang's death," the man replied simply.
Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat. It seemed that Li Zhanchuan was not going to let her hesitate any longer and had decided to drag her into this vortex. She hesitated slightly, but still nodded: "Okay, I understand."
The man nodded and turned to leave. Lin Chuyue closed the door, her gaze sweeping over the contract on the table with a complex expression, when suddenly she felt an unprecedented pressure wash over her.
Her life was completely drawn into an invisible battle.
That evening, Lin Chuyue attended Li Zhanchuan's meeting as agreed. The meeting place was an underground bar, dimly lit, with the smell of alcohol in the air. As soon as she entered, she saw Li Zhanchuan sitting at a table, surrounded by several unfamiliar men, each with a sharp look in their eyes.
"Lin Chuyue, sit down." Li Zhanchuan didn't waste any words and directly gestured for her to sit down.
She walked over and sat opposite him, her gaze unconsciously sweeping around.
“These people are all my partners,” Li Zhanchuan said softly, his tone devoid of any warmth. “Today, we’re not just discussing Shen Fang’s death, but more importantly, the deal your father made with them.”
Lin Chuyue's heart sank. She knew that this meeting was not a simple discussion, but the beginning of a huge conspiracy. She had embarked on this path of no return, and all her choices seemed to have been made by someone else.
A middle-aged man suddenly spoke up: "Miss Lin, your father's business empire is about to face a huge upheaval. Shen Fang's death is just the fuse; more turmoil is to come. We need you to stand on our side and help us control the situation."
"What exactly do you want?" Lin Chuyue asked coldly, a cold glint in her eyes.
“It’s simple.” The man’s lips curled into a cold smile. “What we want is your father’s shares and control of your company. And you, as Lin Zhengguo’s daughter, are the only one who can influence all of this.”
Lin Chuyue's heart sank into an icy abyss. She knew she had been driven to a dead end. She could choose to surrender, but that might mean losing everything; she could also choose to resist, but that was extremely risky and could even completely destroy her relationship with her father.
Her heart felt as if it were being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, making it hard for her to breathe.
"You should make a decision, Lin Chuyue." Li Zhanchuan's voice suddenly came from the side, cold and deep.
At this moment, she finally understood—this gamble was no longer something she could easily decide. She stood on the edge of a cliff; any step she took would lead to the abyss.
