Chapter 27 Phoenix Elegy - 1
Chapter 27 Phoenix Elegy - 1
This world is inhabited by mutants and many superheroes and supervillains he doesn't recognize. He has only been in this world for less than a day and doesn't know enough about it, but he knows that there are two people who can definitely save this world.
One is Jean Grey, the Phoenix, whose heart is dead and who refuses to be resurrected; the other is Wanda, the Scarlet Witch.
Both the Phoenix Force and the Chaos Force are incredibly powerful, and both are key figures in the Marvel multiverse. If they wanted to, solving the world's problems would be very simple for them.
After hearing Vega's words, the red flames burning on the ruby-like skeletons began to flicker violently and gradually turn golden. Body tissues began to regrow, and the scattered skeletons began to tremble, trying to come together.
The Punisher watched with excitement. Phoenix really wasn't dead. Then what Vega said about her being able to save the world must be true!
Just when the two thought Phoenix would come back to life, the mouth of the seemingly sleeping Cyclops on the ground moved, and the flames dancing on the skeleton instantly went out and stopped trembling.
"Why?!" The Punisher roared, drawing his gun to blow Cyclops's head off, but Vega stopped him.
Vega frowned. Cyclops Scott Summers had already lost all signs of life. The reason his mouth was moving was probably because he felt flesh and blood growing on the finger bone he was holding in his mouth. Driven by the virus, his body instinctively developed a desire to eat.
He cast a purification spell on Cyclops, but unsurprisingly, it had no effect.
Essentially, the virus's function is to promote human evolution, which is beneficial to the human body, even though normal people simply cannot accept this kind of evolution.
Evolution is the most primal instinct etched into human genes. Vega wanted to purify the source of his body's evolution, but the body's instincts naturally resisted.
The purification spell can remove all abnormal states, but this spell is very magical because it removes abnormal states based on the target's bodily instincts.
The human body will instinctively eliminate and destroy all substances that are harmful to it, while at the same time absorbing and integrating all substances that are beneficial to it.
The effect of purification is to help the body accelerate the elimination of harmful substances that need to be removed. However, if the body does not perceive the substances you want to eliminate as harmful, the purification spell will not work.
Just like the cursed and plagued swordsmen and imposters on the continent of Arad, their bodies instinctively perceive it as evolution, so purification spells cannot save them either.
From Deadpool and the previous "Flesh Eaters," Vega discovered that the Purification spell was ineffective. Deadpool's return to normal was not because the Resurrection spell, Hymn of Rebirth, had expelled the virus from his body, but because Vega had used this spell to infuse his body with a large amount of life energy, temporarily freeing him from the control of his hunger-driven bodily instincts.
It has to be said that this virus is truly domineering. If it weren't for the unknown evolutionary limit of this virus and the fear of bringing disaster to his world, Vega would have liked to experience this virus firsthand.
Seeing Cyclops start gnawing at his feet, the Punisher anxiously pleaded, "Could you use the ability you used on Deadpool?"
Vega: "It's useless. That kind of resurrection spell only works on people who have been dead for no more than half an hour. Cyclops' body is intact, but he has been dead for too long, and his soul has long since entered hell."
Despite saying this, Vega reached out and snatched away the foot bone that Laser Eye was biting and the finger bone in its mouth, placing them aside. Then, he injected a large amount of holy light into Laser Eye's body as it reached out to grab other Ruby skeletons.
A few minutes later, Cyclops's body quieted down, and Vega stopped the energy infusion: "This will calm him down for a while, and you can use this time to persuade Phoenix."
Punisher: "Thank you."
Vega shook his head: "That's all I can do. I can't eliminate that virus."
Vega tells the Punisher about his discovery and how the purification technique works.
The Punisher considered for a moment and said, "I accidentally absorbed a large amount of viral fluid, which boosted my immunity, but I didn't turn into those monsters."
Vega: "Would you mind if I gave you a medical check-up?"
The Punisher nodded, and Vega placed his left hand on the Punisher's shoulder, injecting a wisp of holy light energy into his body.
Instantly, the Punisher's body began to heat up, and the thought of eating Vega popped into his mind. His expression changed drastically, and he quickly took a few steps back.
Even after he was away from Vega, the changes in his body did not disappear; in fact, they became more severe.
"What did you do to me?!" The Punisher continued to back away, his face contorted with rage as he mistakenly believed Vega was trying to harm him, his right hand gripping the pistol at his waist.
Vega also took two steps back to indicate that he meant no harm: "Don't worry, these symptoms should disappear soon."
After about five minutes, the Punisher returned to normal, and Vega explained, "I think I understand your situation. You absorbed far too much of the virus, and your body couldn't handle it, so you didn't choose to evolve."
"Of course, this doesn't mean you won't become a 'carnivore.' The body's instinct for evolution still exists. I guess your body is constantly releasing excess viruses. Once the remaining number of viruses reaches a level that your body can handle, evolution will begin."
"Damn it!" The Punisher's face was extremely ugly. He couldn't imagine himself turning into one of those man-eating monsters.
"So what's the situation for us survivors?" The priest, who had been pretending to be unconscious because he was afraid to face Vega, had been listening to their conversation and couldn't help but sit up and speak up.
Vega wasn't surprised; he had already noticed the priest was awake. He explained, "There are two possibilities: one is the Punisher, and the other is that your bodies are incompatible with the virus."
Of course, this is just my guess; I need to check it to be sure.
"Yes," the priest said, standing up and walking toward Vega. As he approached, he apologized to Vega for his earlier lapse in composure.
Vega hadn't paid much attention to it before, but he began to examine the priest's body, this time with even greater care.
He did not find the priest to be like the Punisher, and the situation was as he had guessed.
The priest also had viruses in his body, but these viruses, like the useless bacteria in his body, did not play any role.
They examined the little boy again, and his condition was the same as the priest's.
"It seems that you can only ask Phoenix or Scarlet Witch Wanda for help. I only know that the two of them should be able to do it."
Whether others possess this ability, I don't know. My world has no mutants, nor so many superhumans with bizarre abilities.
