Chapter 467 The Rebels' Invitation
Back in the Capsule Corporation lab, the air was thick with exhaustion and the stench of blood. Vegeta leaned against the wall, a deep, bone-revealing wound exposed by a tear in his battle suit. Trunks was using a healing device to stop the bleeding, while Android 18 silently examined the damage to his arm, the mechanical parts humming softly.
Lin Ye walked to the main control panel and inserted the data chip given to him by Silver Fox. The holographic projection immediately lit up, displaying five flashing coordinate points.
“There are five coordinates here,” Lin Ye’s voice broke the silence. “They are all important experimental points for the observers.”
Trunks leaned closer to examine it more closely: "The first one is on Planet Namek, before Frieza's invasion... the second is during the Cell Games... the third is around the time Buu awakens..."
Vegeta frowned and clicked his tongue: "Aren't these all events we've experienced?"
“The observer is repeating the experiment.” Lin Ye said seriously, “Testing the same situation with different variables is like repeatedly debugging the same experiment in a laboratory.”
Number 18 looked up, his blue eyes flashing coldly: "What is this resistance army that Silver Fox is talking about? Are they reliable?"
Just then, the laboratory's communicator suddenly activated automatically, and a blurry holographic image flickered in the air a few times before gradually becoming clearer. The image showed an old man wearing a tattered uniform from the Time and Space Administration, his face covered with deep wrinkles, but his eyes were bright and piercing.
“I’m better suited to answer that question,” the old man said with a smile, his voice steady and powerful. “Silver Fox should have mentioned us. I am the leader of the resistance, codenamed ‘Prophet’.”
Lin Ye immediately went on high alert: "How could you access the communications here? Our system should be the most secure."
The prophet chuckled and waved his hand: "Relax, young man. The data chips in your hands have our secret communication channels. Don't worry, there's no malice intended."
Vegeta snorted coldly, energy gathering in his palm: "Everyone says they mean no harm. Frieza said it, Cell said it, Buu said it too."
“I understand your vigilance,” the prophet nodded in agreement, “but please let me finish. The Observers monitor countless timelines, treating life as experimental subjects. Our resistance is composed of awakened individuals from various timelines, and our goal is to overthrow their rule.”
Trunks stepped forward, his brow furrowed. "How can you prove you're not another group of observers? Why should we believe you?"
The prophet manipulated the interface in front of him, bringing up some alarming data: "These are the timeline records recently destroyed by the observers, simply because the experimental results did not meet expectations. This includes three galaxies where life existed, and billions of lives vanished instantly."
Bulma gasped: "They really did that...it's so cruel."
“Observers believe that timelines can be reset indefinitely, and that life is just data.” The prophet’s expression became unusually serious. “But we know that every life is unique, and every world deserves respect.”
Lin Ye pondered for a moment, the variable engine rapidly analyzing every word the prophet said: "Silver Fox said you've noticed us?"
“Yes.” The Prophet nodded. “You are among the few variables that can resist observer interference. Especially Lin Ye, your system is very special and seems to be compatible with observer technology. This may be an opportunity we have never had before.”
Lin Ye recalled the words of the mirror image Lin Ye, and his eyes sharpened: "So you want to use my system?"
“On the contrary.” The prophet shook his head. “We want to offer help. The Observer has already marked you as a top priority target, and the next one won’t be as simple as the Reapers.”
Number 18 suddenly interrupted, his voice cold and hard: "What specific plans do you have? Just talking big isn't enough."
The prophet conjured up a complex, multi-dimensional map: "The Observer's power comes from the 'Time Core,' a device located outside of time. If it is destroyed, the Observer will lose the ability to reset the timeline."
Vegeta's interest was piqued, and he slightly reduced his energy: "The Time Core? Where is it? How do we destroy it?"
“That’s the problem,” the prophet said with a wry smile. “No one knows the exact location of the core of time. It could be at any point in time, in any spatial dimension. We’ve been searching for centuries and still have no clue.”
Trunks quickly activated the variable engine: "There is no record of this information in my database."
“Of course not,” the prophet said. “That is the observer’s greatest secret. But we believe that by analyzing the unusual fluctuations in various timelines, we can find its location.”
Lin Ye's eyes flashed with data: "So someone needs to go to these experimental sites to collect data? Is that why Silver Fox gave us the coordinates?"
“Brilliant.” The prophet nodded approvingly. “We need you to go to these experimental sites and collect the resonance signals of the time core. Every major event produces unique time ripples, and by analyzing this data, we can locate the time core.”
Vegeta crossed his arms and scoffed, "Why us? Can't you go yourselves?"
“The observers pay special attention to our people,” the prophet explained, “but you are the ‘official variables,’ making your actions less likely to arouse suspicion. Your very existence is within the timeline and won’t trigger their advanced alarm systems.”
Suddenly, the lab alarm blared: "High-dimensional scan detected! Extremely high intensity! Immediate evasive action recommended!"
The prophet's expression changed drastically: "The Observers are locating you! We must cut off communications immediately! They can track you through any open channel!"
The image began to flicker: "Consider our proposal. If you agree, contact us using the button on the chip. Remember, time is not on our side..."
Communication was suddenly cut off, and the laboratory returned to silence, with only the alarm still echoing.
Everyone was processing the information they had just received, and the air was thick with tension and uncertainty.
“So,” Bulma broke the silence, “we’re going to become timeline agents? That sounds even crazier than dealing with Frieza.”
Trunks frowned at the variable engine in his hand: "It's very risky. If the observers have already noticed us, going to their experimental site would be like walking into a trap."
Number 18 checked the weapon system, making a slight mechanical sound: "They won't let us go anyway. We might as well take the initiative and attack, it's better than sitting and waiting to die."
Vegeta grinned, his fighting spirit burning in his eyes: "I agree. It's better than waiting for them to come looking for trouble. Whether they're observers or cores, we'll find out after a fight."
Lin Ye pondered for a long time, his variable engine running at high speed, analyzing various possibilities: "We need more information. System, conduct a comprehensive analysis of chip security."
[Analysis in progress... The chip has no tracking signal, its encryption level is extremely high, and it contains five time point coordinates and an unknown energy signature]
"Energy signature?" Lin Ye curiously pulled up the data. "What kind of special mark is this?"
Trunks glanced at it: "It looks like... a time beacon? A positioning device used for inter-time communication. Wait, there's hidden information here..."
Suddenly, the chip projected a flashing message: "If you see this, it means the Prophet has contacted you. Be careful, there is a traitor within the resistance. Do not completely trust anyone. —Silver Fox"
Everyone was stunned; the sliver of trust that had just been established crumbled instantly.
"A traitor?" Bulma exclaimed. "What does that mean? Whom should we believe?"
Lin Ye's expression turned extremely serious: "It means this game is more complicated than we imagined. We may be facing threats from both the observers and enemies within the resistance."
Just then, the laboratory suddenly trembled violently, and a golden rift was torn open in the space. A figure clad in golden armor slowly emerged, radiating a suffocating aura. Strange patterns flowed across the armor, writhing as if they were alive.
“Variable Lin Ye,” the golden armor emitted a cold, mechanical voice, “the Observer Council has decided to give you one last chance: join us, or be completely eliminated.”
Vegeta immediately went into battle mode, his blue aura erupting: "Here we go again! This is never going to end!"
With a mere gesture, the golden armored figure slammed Vegeta against the wall by an invisible force: "I am not one of those lowly reapers. I am the Judge, the supreme executor of the Observer. Do not measure me with your pitiful power."
Lin Ye felt unprecedented pressure; the variable engine frantically issued warnings: [Warning! Unable to analyze target energy source! Immediate evacuation recommended! Danger level: Extreme!]
The judge turned to Lin Ye, the optical lens on his visor flashing coldly: "Your system is quite interesting. It's the work of some defector observer, isn't it? Unfortunately, it's an incomplete version, as rudimentary as a child's toy."
Lin Ye's heart skipped a beat: A defector observer? Could it be that his system originated from... that mirror image of himself?
The Judge continued, a hint of temptation in his voice: "Join us, and you can obtain the complete system, even become a member of the Observers. Eternal life, infinite knowledge, all timelines at your command. If you refuse..." He turned to Trunks, "you'll begin by eliminating time anomalies."
Trunks immediately went into a defensive stance, but the Judge only glanced at him before Trunks painfully collapsed to his knees, as if under immense pressure.
"Stop!" Lin Ye shouted, his variable engine operating at full power to search for a solution. "I..."
Before he could finish speaking, Silver Fox's voice suddenly rang out in the laboratory: "Don't believe him! The Judge is notorious for lying! He never keeps his promises!"
Silver Fox appeared in the corner of the laboratory, this time seemingly her real body rather than a holographic projection. Holding a glowing device, she tossed it at the Judge without hesitation: "Eat this! A time bomb!"
The judge was struck by the sudden attack, his movements visibly momentarily halted. Silver Fox shouted to Lin Ye, "Quick, run! Use the third coordinate on the chip! That's the safe zone; the observer can't track us there yet!"
Lin Ye didn't hesitate: "System! Activate emergency time jump! Target: Chip coordinates three!"
[Time jump initiated! Target: Year 784 of the Age of Ages, Location: Mental Time Chamber]
Golden light enveloped everyone, then vanished instantly before the judge could resume his actions.
The judge, freed from the effects of the time bomb, scoffed, "Run, rat. The game has only just begun." He turned to Silver Fox, "As for you, traitor..."
Silver Fox smiled and activated another device: "Sorry, I'm not playing along! Tell the council their good days are numbered!" With that, she vanished instantly.
The judge stood still, his golden mask slowly opening to reveal a shocking face—a face that bore a striking resemblance to Lin Ye, only more cold and mature, with no emotion in his eyes.
“Soon, brother,” he murmured, his voice suddenly becoming emotional rather than mechanically cold. “We’ll meet again soon. This time, I won’t let you escape again.”
The spatial rift closed, and the laboratory returned to calm, leaving only traces of the battle and many more unsolved mysteries.
In the time-jumping tunnel, Lin Ye repeatedly recalled the Judge's face and those words. "Brother?" he murmured to himself. Suddenly, an encrypted fragment of memory flashed in the variable engine—an image of a blond boy reaching out his hand to him in a laboratory...
"No matter who you are," Lin Ye clenched his fist, a determined glint in his eyes, "I will find out the truth."
Chapter 468 The Island of Time
The space inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber twisted violently like crumpled paper, the golden light of time jumps hissing and dissipating, revealing the familiar pure white space below and the small house in the distance. But the scene before them made everyone freeze in place, even Vegeta subconsciously restraining his arrogance.
The "sky" here has long lost its former purity, now covered with spiderweb-like purple cracks. Occasionally, a few golden specks leak out from these cracks, melting upon landing like a shattering glass dome. A strange odor hangs in the air, a burnt, astringent smell mixed with the smelling of burning metal; even a single breath makes your throat tighten. The small houses in the distance, which should mark the edge, are even more bizarre, flickering in and out of focus, their outlines sometimes elongating, sometimes shrinking, as if looking through rising steam, even the edges trembling.
“This place…is it really a time chamber?” Trunks gripped the variable engine on his wrist. The engine casing glowed with a faint blue light and was still humming softly. “The flow of time is as chaotic as porridge that has been stirred up. It feels like it has been torn apart and then hastily stitched up.”
Vegeta groaned, raising his arm to rub his right shoulder, which still ached slightly—a lingering effect of being hit by Frieza's time-manipulation ability. He stared at the cracks in the sky, his voice blazing with anger: "Who cares! What if that gold-clad bastard (the Judge) comes after us?"
Lin Ye's fingertips traced a path through the air, and several pale blue data streams floated with his movement before quickly dissipating. "The system has detected the time isolation barrier. Silver Fox wasn't lying; this place is temporarily safe. The Observer and the Judge cannot find these coordinates." He paused, his brow furrowing even more deeply. "But the safe zone itself is collapsing; we don't have much time."
Number 18 raised her robotic arm, twirling her fingertips in the sunlight. The areas previously grazed by the Time Blade still shimmered translucently, like a thin veil, and occasionally jerked. She pressed the joints of the robotic arm, hearing the faint grinding of gears inside, and her expression darkened: "Safety? I think it's another trap. She said there are traitors in the resistance, but what about herself? Who knows if the coordinates she gave us are leading us to our deaths?"
Suddenly, the communicator in Lin Ye's pocket crackled with static, the static noise painfully piercing his ears. Bulma's voice came through intermittently: "Lin... Ye... can you hear me? How are you...? Xidu... just... had an explosion... the energy shockwave was incredibly strong..."
"Bulma!" Lin Ye immediately grabbed the communicator and held it to his ear. "We're alright, we've moved to a safe point for now. How's West City? What about Frieza and Cell?"
The static in the communicator paused, and Bulma's voice became even hoarseer: "...gone. A few minutes after you disappeared, they vanished as if someone had pressed the delete key. Most of the damage they caused was gone, as if it had never happened. Only a few old monitoring devices recorded abnormal peak values."
“It was the Observers who did it.” Trunks’ voice turned cold, and the blue light of the Variable Engine dimmed. “They’re retrieving the experimental subjects, or rather… resetting the data from that point in time. To them, we and West City are just experimental platforms that can be eliminated at any time.”
Vegeta slammed his fist into the ground, creating a crater in the pure white floor. But within seconds, it slowly rose again, leaving no trace. He stared at the crater, his eyes growing fiercer: "Damn it! Being treated like trash! I won't swallow this!"
Lin Ye raised his hand, and the data chip Silver Fox had given him floated up from his palm. The blue light on the chip's surface subtly echoed the variable engine on his wrist. "If you can't swallow it, fight back. Silver Fox gave me five coordinates, and the Judge said my system is 'an incomplete work by a defector observer'... These things must be related."
He turned to Trunks and pointed to the chip: “Use your variable engine, combined with the coordinate data, and see if you can deduce what kind of experiment the observers are conducting. We need to know exactly what they’re trying to do.”
Then he shouted into the communicator, "Bulma, you do your best to analyze the residual data of the West Capital energy oscillation, especially that feeling of being 'reset'. Can you build a model to see how big the range of this reset is and whether there is a limit?"
Finally, he looked at Vegeta and Android 18: "Uncle Vegeta, Android 18, you two are in charge of guarding the area. This place may not be absolutely safe; who knows what might pop out from the time turbulence."
Vegeta snorted coldly, and blue flames instantly erupted around him. Although he wasn't at his peak, the surrounding air still trembled. "You're not entirely brainless. Don't worry, whatever comes, I'll blast it to smithereens!" he said, glancing at the cracks in the sky. He clenched his fists even tighter, not forgetting the pain in his shoulder, which he was looking for an outlet for.
Number 18 didn't say much, just nodded, lightly touched the ground, and leaped onto a slightly higher platform beside her. She raised her hand and pressed the side of the robotic arm, and a thin, almost invisible probe flicked from her fingertip, gently poking it into the air. As soon as the probe touched the air, its tip became translucent. She stared at the probe, her voice as cold as ice: "The time particles in the air are melting. If anything emerges, my probe will react first."
Having made these arrangements, Lin Ye walked to the side and sat down cross-legged. He closed his eyes, focusing all his attention on the variable engine within his body. Ever since hearing the Judge's words, he had wanted to get to the bottom of things.
“System,” he spoke in his mind, “what did the Judge mean? 'The defector observer'? 'The incomplete version'? Where did you come from?”
The system interface in his consciousness suddenly began to fluctuate violently; the previously clear data stream became a jumbled mess, like scrambled puzzle pieces. A sharp alarm blared, making his temples throb.

A sharp, intense pain instantly swept through Lin Ye's head, like countless needles piercing his temples. He gritted his teeth, cold sweat streaming down his forehead and soaking his temples. Just then, several blurry images suddenly broke through the barrier and flashed into his consciousness.
The first scene is a large space filled with white light, with countless light screens floating in the sky. The data streams on them are so fast that they are too fast to see, as if they are processing something important.
The second scene shows a figure from behind, wearing gold armor similar to the Judge's, but darker and with signs of wear. The person is rapidly operating a large screen, their fingers tapping quickly, as if in a hurry.
