Chapter 26 Disciples and old friends
Chapter 26 Disciples and old friends
After passing through the entire deserted village, they once again came across a familiar yet terrifying snow-covered road. However, this time it was clearly not as despairing as the one they had taken up the mountain. Not far from the snow-covered road, on the other side of the mountain ridge, was a courtyard with wisps of cold smoke rising from it. The setting sun cast a lonely glow on the ground. Inside the walled enclosure, made of large stones of varying lengths and heights, stood a tower with a lookout tower on top. A figure was sliding down the center of the tower, using a steel pipe with one hand.
Wei Heng was stunned by this secluded mountaintop courtyard, and even felt a strong longing for it: "Sister, sister, would you be willing to live in a place like this?"
Wei Rui shook her head: "We'll see... um... he's coming!"
Wei Jindong's wife, Xi Ran, went up to him, panting, and said, "Hello, hello, we've come to see Grandpa Lu!"
The other person nodded: "Yes, come in."
Wei Rui looked at the other person's face and said, "Brother, I'm in love! Brother, why can't you look like this?!"
"..."
The fireplace in the room was roaring, and waves of heat rushed out. After a few rustling sounds of clothes, it finally quieted down a bit. Wei Heng saw the person opposite him, who was probably younger than him, walking towards his grandfather: "Teacher Wei??"
Wei Hongbing opened his mouth, then suddenly bent over, clutching his knees, and burst into a violent cough. Wei Jindong, startled, rushed to his aid, patting his back and patting his back to help him catch his breath: "Lu...Lu Chi...you...cough cough cough..."
Lu Chi chuckled awkwardly twice, turned around and walked to the fireplace, picked up the kettle hanging on the fire and poured tea into the teapot.
"I'll do it, Grandpa, Grandpa, I'll do it!" Lu Xingyuan darted over in a flash. "Don't just stand there, you've been climbing all day, sit down!"
"You...he...what?"
"Huh? You don't know? The young master is the person you're looking for!"
"ah??"
Xi Ran swayed and almost fell to the ground. After climbing the mountain all day, from dawn to dusk, this was a huge blow.
The old lady, on the other hand, remained relatively calm, giving her husband a sidelong glance: "You are...Grandpa...Master Lu?"
"I suppose so..." Lu Chi sighed, then looked at the class monitor: "Teacher Wei, didn't you ask clearly when you asked someone?"
Wei Hongbing grinned, "I...can we really ask about something like this at school...? Surely not?"
"Too."
"Old Wei, it's you guys?"
Wei Hongbing reluctantly admitted it, uttering a few words in a muffled voice: "My student, currently in my class."
A sudden, profound silence fell over the air.
"Young Master, we're heading home now." Eighth Master's face was as expressionless as ever, like a brown bear standing and panting. "The earlier we go down, the farther away Xingyuan is, so we can still have a drink."
"Oh no..." Lives were at stake, and Xi Ran was very anxious, but her attitude remained remarkably good—a testament to her excellent manners: "If you leave... how are we going to get down the mountain..."
Eighth Master said, "There's not enough time. We can't get down the mountain before dark. I'll come to pick you up tomorrow."
Xi Ran found her bag and asked somewhat awkwardly, "Eighth Master, you've had a long journey, thank you so much. But, you see, we're not really familiar with the rules here. Could you name a price, how much would be appropriate?"
Eighth Master waved his hand: "We'll talk about it later."
After Eighth Master and the four men left, there was another deafening silence.
"Ahem..." Wei Hongbing had probably gone all out, and the old man, who also had a bit of a sense of humor, suddenly blurted out, "Young Master, so you only see people on weekend afternoons because the school only gives you half a day off..."
"Huff~"
Wei Heng and Wei Rui couldn't hold back any longer. The low-frequency vibrations were like a single-cylinder diesel engine starting up. They could tolerate it, but only a little bit.
However...
Lu Chi's reply silenced all the commotion: "I don't deal with things!"
Wei Jindong let out a deep sigh: "Sigh..."
"What kind of mess is this?!"
"Really..."
"What do we do now?"
Xi Ran remained silent, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed silently while holding the person bound and restrained by straitjackets.
"Lu Chi, you..."
"Why don't you tell me first, where did you find out about this, Shiokawa?"
Wei Jindong suddenly looked up: "No, Jiangnan. My business partner, Wu Jinhong, has a friend of a friend whose niece you've taken a liking to. He wouldn't lie to me, but all he knows is that she's in the old mountains of Yanchuan. Luckily, my uncle is here, and we've been asking for directions all the way here!"
"Do you know what your last name is?"
"Surname..." Wei Jindong looked at his wife, "Ran, do you remember what the child's surname is?"
Xi Ran said firmly, "Zhu! His surname is Zhu!"
"Damn it!" Then Wei Rui saw Lu Chi kick the solid wood chair she could barely drag, sending it flying against the wall and shattering with a bang: "I fucking knew it! That damn ghost won't leave you alone! That damn Chu Sheng!"
The group of people were quite frightened.
In this deep mountain forest, what kind of strength does this guy possess? None of them can fight him; what if this guy, who's not very emotionally stable...?
Wei Hongbing said, "Lu Chi... do you think there might be some... um... misunderstanding here?"
Lu Chi took a deep breath, walked over to the guy who was struggling in fear from his movements, picked up the rope holding the gag, glanced at his face, and said, "You must be tired. Let's eat first!"
"You mean...it's viewable?"
"Let's eat first and talk about it later."
They had only eaten a quick breakfast, and now that they were suddenly relaxed, fatigue and hunger overwhelmed them like a tidal wave.
One table, six dishes: chicken stew with vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms dipped in soy sauce and wasabi, cabbage stewed with mushrooms, a home-style cold dish with shredded meat, a fish, and then four large pork knuckles served in a huge bowl...
For everyone except Wei Hongbing and his wife, it was truly awe-inspiring.
No one uttered a sound at the table; everyone was trying to be polite as they wolfed down their food. When Wei Heng and Wei Rui looked up again, the other person, carrying a large white briefcase wider than their waists, was looking right at them: "Want something?"
I can't fix it, I can't fix it...
Wei Heng knows the ropes. One of his college roommates had shown off the same Big White on his WeChat Moments, but it was a small one, not the 50-liter kind. He kept saying "brother" and "two liang cup" in his mouth. Just thinking about it makes me cringe.
Wei Hongbing downed his tea: "Pour yourself a sip, Jin Dong, you have one too!"
Wei Jindong responded, "Yes, Uncle!"
The three clinked glasses. Wei Jindong's eyes widened when he saw the other man gulp down at least four ounces of tea. He looked down and smelled the orange-red wine in his glass, and stood there dumbfounded, unsure whether to drink it or not.
Xi Ran pushed her cup towards her: "Jin Dong, pour me a little sip too, I want to drink some."
Wei Jindong poured the bottom of his glass of wine over to Ran: "Ran, this wine seems to have a bit of a knockout effect, you..."
Xi Ran downed her drink in one gulp: "Hiss!"
