Chapter 95 Team Formation
Chapter 95 Team Formation
On Friday evening, Lin Feng suggested that the two new teams have dinner together.
The location was "Sichuan University of Technology's First Drifter" near the side gate of the school, and we sat at a large round table.
Xu Qiang led Li Jianjun, Zhang Wei, and Zhou Ming, while Wang Peng led Chen Hao, Liu Xiaoyu, and Zhao Qiang.
The atmosphere was a bit awkward before all the dishes had been served. The newcomers didn't talk much, but cautiously sized up the legendary "boss," who was much younger than they had imagined.
Lin Feng poured himself a beer, raised his glass, and stood up.
"First, welcome to our new colleague. Second, I hope everyone will work hard from now on."
Everyone quickly stood up, and the cups clinked together, making a crisp sound.
After a few bites of hot food, the atmosphere relaxed a little.
The channel sales team started talking about business trips. Li Jianjun talked about his experience of competing with others for customers in the computer mall, while Zhang Wei shared how to avoid security guards when doing campus promotions.
Chen Hao from the e-commerce team was explaining to Liu Xiaoyu what "conversion rate" was, but Liu Xiaoyu looked completely bewildered.
Lin Feng listened for a while, then put down his chopsticks.
"Xu Qiang, does your group know what you're here to do?"
Xu Qiang was taken aback: "Running an agency, selling MP3 players..."
"Yes and no," Lin Feng said. "You're going to build a network."
He picked up a chopstick and drew several dots on the table: "Chengdu is a dot, Chongqing is a dot, Wuhan is a dot, Changsha is a dot, Changsha is a dot, Changsha is a dot... these dots are currently scattered. Your task is to connect these dots with lines."
Li Jianjun's eyes were fixed on the pair of chopsticks.
"The Lilac Commemorative Edition MP3 player is your key. Take this key and knock on the doors of those digital stores in every city's university district. Once they open, go in and connect the cables. When the 'trump card'—the Mice Love Rice Commemorative Edition MP3 player—arrives, light it!"
He made an explosion gesture, "The whole line has to light up."
Zhang Wei understood, and her eyes lit up.
"So don't just think about selling goods." Lin Feng looked at the newcomers, "Think about how to make friends with them, how to convince them that they can make money by cooperating with you."
"The deposit isn't the goal; it's a sieve to filter out those who just want to make quick money and don't care about the long term. What we need are partners who can move forward together."
He added, "Remember our advantages: official authorization, legitimate manufacturer, warranty and after-sales service. These are our strengths, but we need to let people feel them. Let them touch the demo unit, and let them see the authorization documents in black and white."
As soon as the new products arrive next month, I'll send them over immediately. Sincerity precedes trust.
Xu Qiang nodded, while Li Jianjun, Zhang Wei, and the others rubbed their hands together, already eager to try.
Then, Lin Feng looked at the e-commerce team that Wang Peng had recruited.
Do you find Taobao stores particularly complicated and don't know where to start?
Wang Peng smiled wryly: "Brother Feng, we're feeling our way across the river by touching the stones right now."
"That's alright. Let me ask you this: If we consider a Taobao store as a newly opened shop in our digital plaza, what do you think we need to do to make it popular?"
Chen Hao thought for a moment: "I need to clean the shop thoroughly, arrange the goods neatly, and make the signboard bright and shiny."
"That's right." Lin Feng nodded. "Liu Xiaoyu, you're the graphic designer, so it's up to you how you keep the shop clean and bright. But remember, we're selling digital products, not New Year's pictures."
When customers walk in, they need to be able to immediately see what you're selling, how much it costs, and what the benefits are. Don't use any fancy, confusing tactics.
Liu Xiaoyu blushed and whispered, "Yes, I understand."
"Zhao Qiang, you're in charge of operations. The shop's open, so we need people to come, right? How do we let people know there's a new shop here? Should we shout it out at the door, post it on Google, or collaborate with other shops? You need to figure these things out."
Zhao Qiang nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.
"Chen Hao, you're customer service, which means you're a shop assistant. When a customer comes in, you have to greet them; when a customer asks a question, you have to be able to answer it; when a customer wants to buy something, you have to pack it up quickly and efficiently."
Since we can't see faces online, we need to be even more careful with our tone. Say "dear" more often and use a smiling face. If customers have problems, don't try to shirk responsibility; we have a proper warranty, so what's there to be afraid of?
Chen Hao listened attentively, without blinking.
"So don't be afraid." Lin Feng raised his glass to everyone. "Taobao is a new market, the rules are a bit different, but the principles of doing business are the same. First, open your shop, put out your goods, and greet people with a smile. Once you've taken the first step steadily, then you can learn how to run."
Everyone listened quietly; it was their first time meeting the boss, and many of them had some insights.
……
On a weekend evening, the publicity team of Suzhou Evening News posted the new posters on the bulletin boards of various universities.
The poster's main color is a refreshing blue-green, and it reads "Finding the Best Voices on Campus - Original Musician Support Program".
Here are a few points: Your work may receive promotional resources, be made into ringtones, and have long-term revenue sharing opportunities.
The corner is printed with the logos of "Xunji Audio" and "Fengchi Digital".
Shen Jingyi, carrying Zhou Ran's sample, knocked on the door of the school's broadcasting station.
The person in charge of the broadcasting station was a classy young woman. After listening to Shen Jingyi's introduction and then to Zhou Ran's demo of "Wutong Leaves," she hesitated and said:
"The songs are good... but we usually play pop songs, we don't play original songs."
"It's precisely because we haven't let it go that it becomes special," Shen Jingyi said gently with a smile. "Besides, this song is about the sycamore-lined avenue on our school campus, so many students will resonate with it. How about we add a new segment to the campus radio and test the waters?"
The girl thought for a moment, then listened to the chorus again. "Then... I'll ask the teacher? I'll give you an answer next Monday?"
"Okay, thank you."
Emerging from the broadcasting station, Shen Jingyi walked back along the sycamore-lined avenue. The April evening breeze was still a bit chilly, rustling the leaves. The streetlights cast long shadows of her.
She walked downstairs to the startup incubation center and saw that the lights in the second-floor offices were still on.
He went upstairs and pushed open the door. Lin Feng sat in front of the computer, the light from the screen reflecting on his face, highlighting his features.
Tan Zhao was also there, organizing data in front of another computer.
"Jingyi?" Lin Feng looked up, his fingers continuing to type on the keyboard.
"Hmm, the radio station said they'll consider it." Shen Jingyi put down her bag, walked to her desk, took out her notebook from the drawer, and opened it.
"I've compiled the musician profiles I've received over the past few days and shortlisted six with potential. However..."
Lin Feng stopped typing, turned his chair around, and looked at her.
"But what?"
"However, to meet the standards for signing with XunJie Music, potential alone is not enough. You need high-quality work, and ideally, you should already have a certain audience base. Simply presenting a demo isn't enough."
"So what's your thought?"
"Let's promote it on campus first." Shen Jingyi planned carefully before acting. "If we can negotiate with the radio station, we'll broadcast it on a few school radio stations first. Su Wan will post on BBS and music forums to accumulate clicks and comments."
Also, there's a campus original music festival at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music next month. I inquired and they said they might be able to get a performance spot. It would be even better if Zhou Ran could perform live.
As she spoke, she flipped to a page in her notebook, which contained her handwritten plan steps, with the time and responsibilities marked after each step.
Lin Feng looked at her for a few seconds, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly.
"Do as you say. Tell me what resources you need."
Shen Jingyi nodded and continued organizing the documents.
The light shone down from her upper side, casting soft shadows on her cheeks from her eyelashes. Her pen moved across the paper, making a soft scratching sound.
Lin Feng found her working diligently both adorable and full of energy.
Lin Feng turned back to his computer screen. Several numbers on the Excel spreadsheet had been updated:
Channel team on duty: 3 people
Initial batch of potential agents: 7
E-commerce store basic framework: 30% complete
Initial contact with 8 musicians, with 1 person receiving focused follow-up.
