Chapter 93 Three Major Events
Chapter 93 Three Major Events
The plane pierced through the clouds, and outside the window was a rolling sea of clouds.
Lin Feng leaned back in his seat, his fingers unconsciously tapping the armrest. The outline of Shenzhen had long since disappeared from view. Lin Feng looked at the sea of clouds and pondered his future business plans.
MP3s are a cash cow and a stepping stone to opening up distribution channels, but they are by no means the end. Lin Feng is determined to establish a nationwide distribution network and open a new chapter in the internet industry.
Three and a half hours later, the plane landed at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport.
As I stepped out of the terminal, the gentle afternoon sun of Chengdu hit me, carrying the damp air unique to the basin.
Lin Feng dragged his suitcase out of the terminal and hailed a taxi to return to Xichuan University of Technology.
Along the way, Lin Feng looked out the window at the rapidly receding street scene. In Chengdu in April, the plane trees had already sprouted new leaves, and people sat drinking tea and playing cards in front of the small shops along the street.
This city has a leisurely vitality, which is completely different from the fast pace of Shenzhen, which is constantly running 24 hours a day.
But something is quietly changing in places we can't see.
As Lin Feng passed by the digital plaza, he noticed a newly hung lightbox sign that read "MP3 Specialist." The glass door of the internet cafe on the street corner was covered with promotional posters for various online games.
Lin Feng notified the core members of the studio in advance that they would meet in the office on the second floor of the startup incubation center an hour later.
An hour later, the taxi stopped at the school gate. Lin Feng didn't go back to his dormitory; he went straight to the startup incubation center.
Wang Peng, Xu Qiang, Shen Jingyi, Li Hao, Su Wan, Tan Zhao, Liu Qian and others had already arrived.
"Meeting." Lin Feng placed his suitcase against the wall and took off his coat, draping it over the back of his chair.
Lin Feng took out an "engineering prototype" of the "Mice Love Rice" MP3 player and passed it around for everyone to see.
The prototype was passed around among the group. When Shen Jingyi received it, her eyes lit up. The adorable little mouse had rounded lines and slightly drooping ears, exuding cuteness.
Su Wan leaned closer to take a look and couldn't help but whisper, "So cute."
"This is our latest official commemorative MP3 player design based on 'Mice Love Rice,' and the design patent has already been submitted." Lin Feng's voice drew everyone's attention back.
"The production line in Shenzhen has been debugged, and the first batch of new MP3 players is expected to roll off the production line in 25 days. However, this time, we are not adopting the pre-sale model. I am waiting for the State Intellectual Property Office's acceptance receipt for the MP3 player's appearance patent design."
Prior to this, the design of the new MP3 player remains highly confidential. It is only known to those present here and will not be publicized at all. Product promotion for the new MP3 player will only begin after the patent application receipt and the MP3 players are in stock.
For the next month, we will continue to promote and sell the "Lilac Commemorative Edition MP3 Player." Does everyone understand?
"Understood!" everyone answered in unison.
Lin Feng continued, "I have several important announcements to make over the next month."
Everyone unconsciously straightened their backs a little.
"First, establish a nationwide agency network." Lin Feng looked at Xu Qiang. "Xu Qiang, from now on, the agency network you are in charge of will not be limited to Chengdu."
"Go out! Start by expanding into first- and second-tier cities across the country, especially provincial capitals with a high concentration of universities, beginning with the nearest mountain city."
"Remember two points: First, focus on the university market and establish a campus agent network; second, use MP3 players as the sales medium, with the 'Lilac Commemorative Edition MP3' as the main product this month, and start distributing the new 'Mice Love Rice' MP3 fully next month."
"I demand that sales prices and agency policies be uniform nationwide. We can establish a performance-based competition mechanism, giving extra rewards to agents with good performance, and eliminating the bottom-performing agents who are unmotivated."
"The first batch of key cities for expansion includes: Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. We will first target the university clusters in these seven cities."
Xu Qiang looked troubled. Although he was highly motivated, he simply couldn't travel to all seven cities by himself. Moreover, the travel expenses were substantial.
Lin Feng had already considered these issues.
He reassured Xu Qiang, "These cities aren't all for you to handle alone. You'll be responsible for developing plans, setting rules, and leading the team. The first step is hiring. Our current staff is simply overwhelmed. Immediately issue a job posting to recruit full-time employees. Requirements include sales experience and knowledge of digital products."
"As for travel expenses..." Lin Feng looked at Liu Qian, the finance officer, "Liu Qian will set the travel allowance standards, including transportation expenses, accommodation subsidies, meal allowances, etc."
"Understood, I'll start recruiting immediately." Xu Qiang was finally relieved; he wasn't being asked to do it alone.
"I'll draft the travel expense standards today and show them to you," Liu Qian quickly wrote in her notebook.
Lin Feng announced the second major event: "Establishing the Fengchi Digital online store."
"We are now in the era of the Internet. The future sales network will consist of two parts: the traditional offline channel network and the online e-commerce network."
"Taobao will become the mainstream of e-commerce in the future. Our digital studio needs to establish its own official online store on Taobao to sell products such as MP3 players online."
Lin Feng looked at Wang Peng: "Wang Peng will take the lead in handling this matter."
Wang Peng swallowed hard: "Brother Feng, I've never even seen the Taobao seller backend..."
"If you don't know how, just learn," Lin Feng encouraged him. "No one is born knowing everything. Registering a store, designing the website, getting familiar with the backend operations, website operation, logistics and shipping, customer service... take it one step at a time. Your current task is to build a lean and efficient e-commerce team."
"The first step, as always, is recruitment. Wang Peng, you are the first store manager of Fengchi Digital's online store. You need to recruit graphic designers, customer service staff, and operations personnel, lead the team to learn Taobao rules, and prepare for the launch."
We are hiring in two categories: first, those with experience in opening or operating a Taobao store, even if it's only for three months; second, quick learners with no specific major requirement. Salary is 10% above market rate, but there is a three-month probation period; if you don't perform well, you're let go.
My requirement is that the Fengchi Digital Cable online store officially launches on Taobao within one month. Is that possible?
"...Yes." Wang Peng gritted his teeth.
"Good!" Lin Feng was very satisfied with Wang Peng's execution.
Lin Feng announced the third major event: the "Campus Original Musician Support Program".
He looked at Shen Jingyi and Su Wan: "The campus original musician selection event officially starts today. Jingyi, you're in charge of the content side. Discover talent, evaluate works, and negotiate collaborations. Su Wan, you're in charge of the publicity side."
"The first phase involves launching a promotional campaign. Online, we'll create dedicated sections on university BBS forums, QQ Music-related groups, and our partner website, 'XunJie Yindong.' Offline, we'll reach out to various university music clubs, campus concerts, arts competitions, and any other venues we can."
Shen Jingyi added softly, "I've arranged to meet with two original singers from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the leader of a Sichuan University band this week. We can get in touch first."
"Okay." Lin Feng nodded.
"Su Wan, your task is to let as many people as possible know about this plan. Posters, flyers, website features, online events. You'll come up with the specific plan, and Liu Qian will approve the budget. You can decide on the amount for each item under 500, but report anything over 500 to me."
Su Wan habitually twirled her pen, the tip scratching softly on the paper.
Lin Feng emphasized: "Our principles for this event are: first, we are genuinely looking for original campus musicians; second, we will genuinely provide resources to promote them; and third, if they become popular, we will have long-term shared interests."
He paused, then looked at Su Wan again: "When the new 'Mice Love Rice' MP3 is ready to launch and the promotion begins, Su Wan, you need to immediately shift your focus to promoting the MP3. So now, hurry up and lay a solid foundation for the musician project, so that others can seamlessly take over later."
"Understood." Su Wan looked up. "Then I need manpower. I can do the design myself, but I need people for on-the-ground promotion, contacting campus channels, and maintaining the online community."
"We're hiring," Lin Feng said decisively. "Students can work part-time, but there will be performance evaluations. I need to see the data on the number of flyers distributed each week, the number of new online discussion threads, and the resumes of musicians we bring in."
"good!"
"Finally," Lin Feng's gaze swept over everyone, "these three lines are currently operating independently, but they will definitely intersect in the future. The campus influence accumulated by the musician program will boost product sales; the data from e-commerce channels can help us determine which regions have high demand and where our agents should focus their efforts."
He paused for a moment, letting his words settle.
"So, every three days, everyone reports to me on their progress. Team building, agent expansion, online store progress, contact with musicians, etc... Meeting adjourned."
After the meeting, everyone left one by one.
Shen Jingyi slowly packed up her notebook, but didn't leave immediately. She waited until everyone had left the meeting room before quietly walking to Lin Feng's side.
"President, how did your trip to Shenzhen go?" she asked in a low voice.
"Successfully." Lin Feng was still looking at the documents when he nodded slightly.
"That's good." Shen Jingyi lowered her head and remained silent for a few seconds.
"President, do you like listening to Stefanie Sun's songs?"
Lin Feng looked up at her curiously: "You like it? What's wrong?"
Shen Jingyi took out two light blue tickets from her bag and gently placed them in front of Lin Feng.
"On June 20th... Stefanie Sun held a concert at the Provincial Gymnasium. I asked a friend to buy two tickets for me, and the seats were pretty good."
She looked at him, her eyes sparkling with affection, and extended an invitation: "I think... you're usually too busy, maybe you could relax a bit. So I'd like to invite you, President, to a concert with me."
Lin Feng looked at the two tickets. The light blue tickets featured a beautiful image of Stefanie Sun singing, with the words "2004 Stefanie Sun China Tour Concert - Chengdu Station" printed on them.
"Okay," Lin Feng readily agreed. "It's been a long time since I've been to a concert."
Lin Feng agreed to go, and Shen Jingyi finally felt relieved.
"Then... let's go together then." After saying that, she left the meeting room with a heart full of joy, like a little girl.
