Leila's voice grew softer and softer until it was barely audible.
"Do you know how to fight?"
Luo Xiu spoke up.
"Eh?"
Leila was clearly taken aback by her master's question and stared blankly at Luo Xiu.
"I've heard that orcs have a talent that allows them to transform into magical beasts for a short period of time. I'd like you to help me kill a goblin. Can you do that?"
"Brother, a goblin..."
Fear filled Leila's eyes, and her small body trembled slightly.
She certainly knew about this creature; on this continent, even a goblin was a very dangerous being.
Luo Xiu noticed Leila's fear, and having anticipated this situation, he smiled with relief:
"If you're worried about infection from goblins, don't worry. As long as you can defeat the goblins, I can heal you. I'm a healing sorceress."
"Of course, it's okay if you don't want to. I can go and plead with Old White for a while, and it should still be in time."
"Yes, yes, that's possible!!!"
To Luo Xiu's surprise, Leila's voice rose for the first time.
She gripped Luo Xiu's arm tightly and pleaded:
"Master, please don't send Leila back. Leila is very good at fighting, and Leila wants to stay with you."
Even if Luo Xiu was lying to her, she didn't want to go back.
She had been there for too long; Luo Xiu was the first person to choose her.
He was also the first person to smile at her.
She had no other thoughts. For her, a half-orc without any dignity, all she wanted was to follow Luo Xiu, no matter how long this situation could last.
Luo Xiu was stunned, not expecting Leila's reaction to be so intense.
He then smiled and patted Leila's head, saying:
"Then I'll be counting on you for a bit, Leila."
"I believe Leila is quite good at fighting, after all, you have a lot of strength."
As he spoke, Luo Xiu winked at the arm that Leila was holding tightly.
Leila then realized what was happening and quickly let go of Luo Xiu's arm.
But it was too late; Luo Xiu's exposed arm was already red.
"I'm sorry, Master, I'm so sorry, Leila didn't mean to..."
Leila bowed her head and apologized repeatedly, tears welling in her eyes, unsure whether she would be beaten or abandoned by her master.
But when she looked up, she found that Luo Xiu had already walked to the entrance of a meat pie shop next door.
Currently negotiating with the shop owner:
"Two copper coins each, Uncle Glenn, why don't you just rob me? I only have three copper coins left anyway. If you sell me two, I'll buy them all at once, otherwise I won't buy any."
Before long, to Leila's dazed gaze, Luo Xiu returned carrying two huge thin meat patties.
He shoved a meat pie into Leila's dazed hand, then took a big bite of the remaining one, a satisfied look on his face.
"What are you standing there for? Eat it while it's hot. Uncle Glenn's bargains are not easy to come by. You must have been starving for a long time. You need to be full to have the strength to fight."
Leila looked at the steaming meat patty in her hand.
The warmth of that long-lost food made her feel momentarily dazed.
Food, hot food.
Steam rose from the meat pie, blurring the view.
Then it condenses into water droplets and falls down, plop plop...
blah blah blah...
Sunset near the jungle in the north.
Luo Xiu pointed to a green goblin peering out from the jungle in the distance and said to Leila:
"Leila, that's your target. Go and take it down later."
"Remember, beat him half to death, but in the end, I must kill him with my own hands."
"Also, you have to be quick. There's a goblin's lair in this area. This goblin is like a patrol post. Last time, the guard told me that I had to kill it within a few minutes to avoid attracting other goblins."
"Although you don't need to be afraid of infection, you still need to be careful and make sure you don't get seriously injured, do you understand?"
Luo Xiu kept chattering on and on.
But Leila did not reply.
She just stared intently at the muscular goblin with bloodshot eyes, as if she was too nervous to speak.
Luo Xiu smiled easily:
"It's not too late to back out now, it's okay, I can always go see Mrs. Chelsea tomorrow... Holy crap!!!"
Luo Xiu was so shocked that he blurted out a curse word from the original world.
Because Leila had already rushed out.
"Roar!!!"
With a deafening roar, a silver bear over two meters tall appeared in front of Luo Xiu.
Leila, now in her bear form, saw the frightened goblin and rushed towards it at an almost frantic speed.
She stared intently at her goal, with only one thought in her mind.
Leila, take it down!!!
The owner said, kill it!!!
Chapter 3: The First Goblin
With its simple mind, that goblin obviously couldn't understand why a silver moon bear would appear here.
These high-level magical beasts almost never appear near human villages.
It wanted to run back to its nest to report.
But it was too late.
Leila roared and snapped the trees in front of her in half, slamming them into her body with tremendous force.
"Jah!!!"
The goblin cried out in pain, letting out a sharp, piercing cry.
Leila showed no mercy, unleashing a barrage of blows with her massive hands towards the goblin.
She knew that her beast form was only up to 15 seconds long, and she had to end the battle as quickly as possible.
But the goblins in front of them were clearly not so easy to deal with.
This creature is just as insane as the rumors on the mainland suggest.
No matter how much force Leila used to knock it down or flip it over, as long as it could still move, it would roar and pounce on Leila again.
Its sharp teeth and claws left bloody marks on Leila's body. Even though Leila's pain had greatly subsided, she still let out low growls from the pain.
After the two grappled for eight or nine seconds, Leila started to get impatient.
She could feel her strength gradually weakening, but even with several bones broken, the goblin in front of her still attacked with the ferocity of a mad dog.
The goblin also clearly realized that the underdeveloped silver moon bear opposite him seemed to be exhausted.
It let out an excited, strange cry.
If the Silver Moon Bear is defeated before its own people arrive, it will surely be rewarded upon returning to its lair.
It attacked Leila even more frantically, scratching, biting, and stabbing her with every means at its disposal.
In just a few seconds, the balance of power had shifted.
"Roar!!!"
Leila used all her strength to send the goblin flying, then strode forward.
She prepared to use her last strength to deliver the fatal blow to the goblin.
Even if this attack fails to complete the task assigned by her master, she must at least buy him a chance to escape.
She leaped up with a burst of strength from her feet and slammed her claws down.
One blow fell.
Dust billowed up, and the earth trembled a few times.
Leila had no strength left, and she fell heavily backward.
The beast form on his body gradually dissipated, and he transformed back into that small, thin figure.
She lay on the ground, turning her head to the side to see if her owner had run away.
She knew she had failed the moment she landed her final blow.
The master clearly trusted me so much, yet I failed to do a good job. I'm truly useless.
She turned her head, but did not see Luo Xiu.
The owner ran away, that's great...
Leila wore a satisfied smile.
She slowly closed her eyes, and the goblin's weak, eerie cry rang in her ears once more.
It's getting closer and closer.
Leila, meanwhile, was already lost in her own world.
