"Can you feel it, Rhodes? This surging power... is so... powerful! Enough to crush any enemy."
Now, Tichondrius… and all the scum of the Burning Legion, will pay the price for their invasion!
“This is your own decision, Illidan. You have now completely become a demon,” Rhodes sighed and said.
But he has already officially embarked on a path of no return. However, if the Mother of Light intervenes, Illidan can still be transformed back.
Even if he were to transform into a lightforged life form, the proud Illidan would not accept it.
Illidan grinned maliciously, his enormous demonic wings unfurling. "I don't care. All I know is that I now finally possess the power to defeat the Burning Legion."
"Come on, Rhodes! Let's give that dreadlord a surprise!"
After absorbing the power of Gul'dan's scepter, his power has grown to a terrifying level, and now he is going to hunt down the dreadlord.
“As you wish, we will now go hunt down that dreadlord Tichondrius, but the final blow must be left to me,” Rhodes said.
Illidan must become a true demon hunter, because without Illidan, there is no way to truly destroy the Burning Legion.
No one searched for Mardum, no one searched for the Sargeras Keystone, no one could discover Sargeras's secrets, and no one dared to recklessly summon the planet Argus to Azeroth.
Illidan's transformation is crucial.
“Haha, no problem, I always save the last blow for you,” Illidan said with a smile.
The two nodded to each other and began their journey toward the location of the Dreadlord, to finally put an end to this corrupting dreadlord who had been corrupting Felwood.
Chapter 135 Terrifying Death Ripple, Anti-Magic Shield
Deep within Felwood Forest, the corruption of fel energy is already alarming.
The once lush forest withered and twisted, the earth cracked, and thick, green fel energy gushed out, filling the air with the stench of sulfur and decay.
“Illidan, this forest is severely corrupted. Is it possible that the remaining fel energy will be absorbed by the forest in the future?” Rhodes said, looking at the ravaged Felwood Forest.
In the original timeline, even in the Earth era, the corruption here was not eliminated, and this forest was transformed from a sacred demigod territory into a land of evil and wickedness.
"As long as Cenarius the God comes, along with the other Archdruids, it will take them some time to enter the Emerald Dream."
This will clear away the evil energy here and heal the land. Time is the best medicine for healing, and the place will recover in hundreds or even thousands of years.
"There's nothing we can do now; the fel infection has already taken hold," Illidan said.
Compared to other Forces, Fel and Shadow are indeed the most dangerous, as both can cause immense destruction and corruption.
“I mean, we can try a different approach. For example, you could try to absorb the corrupted fel energy from this land,” Rhodes said suddenly.
"You're overthinking it. I can't do that. The fel energy in this land is very scarce and deep within the earth. It's not like the fel energy inside living beings. Let's go, let's keep going," Illidan said, somewhat speechless.
What is this bastard thinking? Absorbing the fel energy of this land, do you think I'm Sargeras?
Director Rhodes said that in Heroes of Might and Magic, there is actually a very special magic called Obstacle Removal, which can remove some messy things on the battlefield.
However, this magic is generally not used by players, because these complex battlefield terrains will instead become natural allies for players.
I wonder if these things corrupted by fel energy count as obstacles? If so, could they be removed by this magic?
Alternatively, Rhodes could experiment with using the power of holy light or life energy to cleanse it, since everything has its counterpart, and fel energy counters life and arcane magic.
The power of Holy Light can suppress fel energy. In the future, we might be able to come with Uther and other paladins to try summoning Holy Light elements and see if we can cleanse this land of its pollution.
The two continued forward, and the deeper they went, the stronger and denser the demon army became. At this point, Rhode really wanted to try out a group spell.
Using Death Ripple here would be incredibly powerful, especially since Rhodes now has advanced earth magic plus a 9-point strength boost.
This attack will kill any demon whose health is below 100. Of course, undead creatures will be unharmed, as this attack is ineffective against them.
Before the two of them stood approximately two thousand demons of the Burning Legion and tens of thousands of undead creatures. In the center of all the demons sat a 5-meter-tall dreadlord with a bald head and bat wings.
This dreadlord is Tichondrius, the target of Rhodes and Illidan's mission. He is an extremely powerful dreadlord, whose strength is not much weaker than that of the pit lord Mannonos. Killing this guy should yield good rewards.
“I’m afraid the two of us can’t sneak in. Rhodes, we need a very powerful spell,” Illidan said, turning to Rhodes.
There are only two ways to get close to the Dreadlord in the center: the first is to fight your way in, but Rhodes' summons will suffer heavy losses.
The second method is to cast a group damage spell, and Rhodes has many group damage spells.
“I do have a group attack spell that will deal a terrible blow to all life except undead creatures, so you will also be a target,” Rhodes said with a shrug.
Unfortunately, the Death Ripple spell is just that problematic. Apart from undead creatures and Rhode, the user, all other living beings within Rhode's line of sight are within its attack range.
"I know the power of this magic. I've seen you use it before. To be honest, I really wanted to learn this magic back then, but I just couldn't learn it no matter what I tried."
"Go ahead and use it. I can withstand the damage," Illidan said, taking a deep breath.
In fact, Rhodes also has a terrifying fire-based area-of-effect spell. When used, this spell is truly world-destroying, and its name is Doomsday Judgment.
In the future, Rhodes could even incorporate fel magic into this move, making it even more terrifying. That's right, Rhodes will possess fel magic in the future, or rather, he already does.
Although it was very faint, Illidan could sense that Rhodes could now use a few fel magic spells, but Illidan didn't want to change too much of the future, so he didn't tell Rhodes.
“Since you’ve put it that way, then fine, I’ll use this spell to clear the area. I can cast some protective spells for you, such as an anti-magic shield and an arcane shield,” Rhodes said to Illidan.
Having fought Arthas so many times, this time Rhodes stole a spell from Arthas, or rather, a skill of the Death Knight.
This is a move that Arthas uses every time he fights Rhodes; it's called Anti-Magic Shield, a very useful Death Knight spell.
It can create an anti-magic field around one's body, effectively resisting magical damage, similar to the anti-magic spell in Heroes of Might and Magic.
Furthermore, this skill has the ability to be cast on multiple targets, creating a large circle on the ground to provide defense for people within a certain range. (In the new version, Anti-Magic Shield seems to be usable only by a single person, but in previous versions it was a group skill, similar to placing a magic shield underground, except it was a fixed-area defense and couldn't withstand charges like a single-target spell.)
“No problem, I also have a certain level of magic resistance, your magic won’t cause me much harm,” Illidan nodded and said.
Rhodes then cast Stone Skin, Divine Shield, the newly learned Anti-Magic Shield, Arcane Shield, and Frost Shield on Illidan. With these five defensive spells, the power of Death Ripple that Illidan would suffer would be reduced by at least half; the rest of the power would have to be withstood by the Demon Hunter.
After everything was ready, Rhodes took a deep breath and unleashed the terrifying Death Ripple, a high-level earth magic. This gave the magic an innate power of 30 points, plus 9 points of strength multiplied by five, for a total of 75 points of damage.
“Then, prepare yourself, Illidan.” Rhodes took a deep breath, opened his spellbook, and chose to use Death Ripple.
As is customary with hero magic, there were no flashy special effects; a red ripple spread out from Rhode's body.
The surrounding demons seemed to sense a deadly threat, and began to stir, letting out uneasy roars. Even Tichondrius, the dreadlord who sat enthroned among the demons, frowned and looked in the direction from which the energy fluctuations were coming from.
“What kind of spell is that? A repulsive aura…” Tichondrius muttered to himself.
The next second, Rhodes' spell was complete.
"Death Ripple!"
Om-! ! !
A silent yet soul-shaking crimson ripple spread rapidly from Rhodes' center, like ripples on water! Wherever this ripple passed, space seemed to distort, and light dimmed.
The ripples first swept over the outermost hellhounds and imps. These low-level demons didn't even have time to scream before the fel fire in their eyes was extinguished instantly. Their bodies withered and decayed rapidly, as if all their life force had been drained, turning into ashes and dissipating into the air.
Next came the demon guards and fear guardians, succubi, and destruction demons. Their tough demon skin and strong muscles were useless against the death ripple. The death ripple passed through their bodies, their massive bodies stiffened abruptly, and then they collapsed to the ground with a thud. The ferocity in their eyes completely dimmed, their life force was completely wiped out, and they returned to the Twisting Nether to resurrect.
The eye monsters and doomguards fell from the sky like dumplings being dropped into a pot, crashing to the ground and turning into puddles of rotting flesh.
The death ripples spread relentlessly, precisely filtering out any signs of life. Just as Rhodes had said, it had no effect on undead creatures; the skeletons and zombies still stood there, bewildered. But for beings with vibrant life (even twisted demonic life), it was a devastating catastrophe!
Fortunately, due to the infection by fel energy, there were no other living beings in this forest, otherwise they would all be within the range of the attack.
Standing beside Rhodes, Illidan felt a chilling force trying to penetrate his body and steal his life force, even with several layers of magical shields protecting him.
The demon hunter grunted, and the fel fire on his body ignited on its own, frantically resisting the force of death. His shield flickered violently, ultimately managing to withstand most of the impact, but the remaining power still left him feeling briefly weak and unwell.
Illidan was secretly alarmed, gaining a deeper understanding of the vast variety and immense power of magic that Rhodes possessed.
This was the first time he had ever seen Rhodes use this terrifying magic. Rhodes had never used this move ten thousand years ago, or rather, he had never used it in front of him.
After the death ripples swept across the entire demon territory, the scene became deathly silent.
The once densely packed, roaring demon army now has more than 80% reduced to ashes or lying motionless on the ground, having completely lost their lives.
Only a few powerful and healthier demon officers remained struggling, but they were on the verge of death and severely injured. The undead creatures stood there blankly, seemingly lost without their demon commanders.
Tichondrius stared in disbelief at the scene before him. His massive demon army had been almost completely wiped out by a single spell.
Chapter 136 Slaying Tichondrius and Stealing the Kill
"This is impossible! What kind of evil magic is this?!" The Dreadlord roared in shock and rage.
It looks like a necromancy spell, but these damned skeletons dare to rebel! That idiot Lich King, he actually dared to betray the Legion!
Tichondrius immediately suspected the Lich King's betrayal, but he didn't realize that he had been tricked by the enemy, because only demons fell at the scene, while the undead were completely unharmed.
"Now! Let's go." Although Rhodes' face was pale from casting such a powerful, wide-range spell, his movements didn't falter. He swung his staff again:
"Firestorm!"
A raging fire instantly erupted where the demon corpses had piled up, scorching the demon officers who had miraculously survived and were still struggling, further clearing the battlefield.
"Holy Light!" "Divine Storm!" "Consecration!"
Golden beams of light shot precisely at the bewildered undead creatures; the holy power was their nemesis, and swarms of skeletons and zombies turned to dust in the holy light.
Rhodes even summoned nine Holy Light elementals to assist in killing the enemy. Without a demon commander, these undead creatures were temporarily thrown into chaos. Moreover, a certain Lich King wanted everyone to kill Tichondrius, so naturally there was no command.
Illidan, needing no further prompting, unleashed his massive demonic wings the instant the Death Ripple effect ended, shooting towards the lone dreadlord Tichondrius like an arrow! The fel flames on the Warblade of Azzinoth burned to their zenith due to their master's rage and fighting spirit!
"Tichondrius! Your end is nigh!" Illidan's roar echoed through the valley.
Having lost the protection of his army, the Dreadlord was forced to face alone a Demon Hunter at his peak, who had absorbed the power of Gul'dan's Skull, and a human mage in the distance whose spells were terrifyingly powerful!
The hunt for the Dreadlord has officially entered its climax!
Tichondrius was filled with shock and rage, but as a powerful dreadlord, he did not lose his composure. Facing the charging Illidan, he let out a sharp screech, and powerful shadow energy erupted instantly!
[A putrid bee colony!]
A terrifying shockwave of death swept out, enough to render even the bravest warrior paralyzed with boundless fear.
However, Illidan merely sneered and his body burst into sacrificial flames, rendering the dreadlord's attacks completely ineffective.
"A mere trick!" Illidan roared, as the Warblade of Azzinoth drew two intersecting green arcs, aiming straight for Tichondrius's head!
Tichondrius hurriedly raised his massive demonic claws to block.
Clang! boom!
Fel energy and shadow power collided violently, unleashing a deafening roar and energy shockwave. Tichondrius was forced back by Illidan's enraged attack, and the ground beneath his feet cracked.
The Dreadlord roared and unleashed a terrifying fel magic spell. Several meteors crashed down from the sky and transformed into stone giants burning with green flames. This was the Dreadlord's unique skill: Summon Hellfire.
