Chapter 14 The Great Reporter
Chapter 14 The Great Reporter
"Depend on!"
Fei Sha drove Wu Tianyao away, his tone becoming excited: "Brother Yao, aren't we going to expand and strengthen our herbal tea shop?!"
"It's still far from certain," Wu Tianyao said, rolling down the car window and looking at the brightly lit, bustling container terminal in the distance. "But at least we've secured an opportunity."
"That's true." Fei Sha immediately deflated: "The reporter Wang Qing you mentioned, we know her, but she doesn't know us. How are we supposed to see her?"
"Yes, of course I've seen her. How could I not have?" Wu Tianyao glanced at the rearview mirror. "She took a picture of me, don't you remember?"
"No, to be precise, I appeared in her shots."
That night.
Wu Tianyao recognized her immediately; the woman in the Mercedes-Benz with the Leica camera was Wang Qing.
He wrote down the license plate number and specifically asked Wang Weiqiang to check the owner's information. The license plate was registered under the name of a textile factory company.
"You mean Pingzhi who took photos in the market that night?" Fei Sha remembered. "Never mind, whatever you say, Yao-ge, I'll just go along with it."
He stroked the steering wheel with his palm, feeling the leather handle: "If we could drive a Mercedes someday, I'd be grinning from ear to ear."
Housing estate.
Wu Tianyao returned to his 150-square-foot mansion and took out a photography magazine he had bought to look through.
On the cover.
It was a photo of Wu Tianyao standing in the market that night, with airplanes flying overhead.
This is a photography project that Wang Qing has been working on recently, exploring the lives of residents in the old city.
outside.
Li Rui came up, followed by Li Wanhua carrying a plate, and came in to change Wu Tianyao's dressing.
"Brother Yao, you seem to be in a very leisurely mood today."
She looked at the magazine in his hand, her gaze catching the photograph: "This person looks so much like you!"
"Right? I think so too." Wu Tianyao casually put the magazine aside. "Do you think it's possible for the herbal tea shop business to grow?"
"I don't know." Li Wanhua thought seriously, "But Dad's herbal tea is really good, and everyone likes to drink it. That's a testament to his abilities."
"hehe."
Li Rui just laughed, checked Wu Tianyao's arm wound, and, finding nothing wrong, gestured for Li Wanhua to change the dressing.
"Uncle Li."
Wu Tianyao handed him a cigarette: "I heard you used to work in the Walled City?"
Li Rui lit a cigarette and took a drag.
"Do you know anyone like that?"
"What are you doing going in there? What, did you do something wrong and are you hiding inside?"
"I want to go in and take some photos." Wu Tianyao waved the magazine in his hand. "Just simple photography, like a people and culture magazine, nothing else. Is there anything you can handle?"
Kowloon Walled City, though a small place, is extremely complex.
This place is a lawless zone, a no-man's-land, where even the police dare not go in to arrest people.
"If all goes well, they might all be in today," Wu Tianyao said, looking at him. "If things take longer, it'll be within the next few days."
"Um."
Li Rui nodded casually after listening, without asking any further questions.
Wu Tianyao grinned.
"alright."
Li Wanhua skillfully wrapped the wound in gauze into a bow as always: "Be careful not to get the wound wet when you shower."
····
Since they didn't have Wang Qing's contact information, the two of them had no choice but to stake out outside Lidi TV station.
In the afternoon, they finally met Wang Qing, who had come out of there.
"He's out! He's out!" Fei Sha quickly gestured to Wu Tianyao, "Wow, he's even better looking in person than on TV!"
Wang Qing was wearing a white chiffon blouse today, tucked into her pencil skirt, and a red name tag around her neck.
She was slender with a classic oval face and delicate features, and long, flowing black hair cascaded over her shoulders.
Wu Tianyao got out of the car and went to greet him: "Hello, Mr. Wang, the great reporter."
"Hello." Wang Qing glanced at Wu Tianyao, feeling that he looked familiar, then looked at Fei Sha, and politely smiled and nodded, "Thank you, I have things to do."
Her intuition told her so.
These two are probably gangsters.
"I'd like to talk to Reporter Wang about the photography magazine." Wu Tianyao took out the magazine: "I wonder if Reporter Wang has time."
"I have something to do," Wang Qing said with a smile, declining the offer. Her assistant, Xiao Pang, immediately stepped forward and blocked their way.
Wang Qing then left.
Wu Tianyao then added, "I wonder if Reporter Wang would be interested in taking photos inside Kowloon Walled City?"
He read the magazine carefully and could tell from the text that she really wanted to go inside.
The magazine included several exterior photos of Kowloon Walled City, but none of them showed the interior.
The Walled City is right next to Kai Tak Airport, and planes prepare to land at a very low altitude, as if they are flying right overhead, making it an absolutely iconic scene.
I think so.
The photos she took of airplanes flying over Yongning Street may have been a makeshift substitute for interior shots taken from inside the Walled City.
Wu Tianyao's words made Wang Qing stop in her tracks.
"I'd like to ask you to help me film an interview about dockworkers," Wu Tianyao said succinctly. "In exchange, I can take you to film inside Kowloon Walled City, the kind that's very safe."
"really?!"
Wang Qing looked Wu Tianyao up and down.
"Isn't I in your photos?" Wu Tianyao flipped through the magazine, placing the photo next to himself: "I'm a parking attendant, I know some big shots in the Walled City, taking some human interest photos is no problem."
Wang Qing compared the photo in the magazine with Wu Tianyao's and immediately remembered: "Deal!"
"However, you have to take me inside to film first. After I'm done filming, I can do a pier interview for you."
Wang Qing stated her condition: "Is it the one from Wang Heting at Kwai Chung Container Terminal 6?"
"make a deal!"
Wu Tianyao confidently replied, "You can go in whenever you want!"
Both parties agreed to meet outside the walled city at 3 p.m. today.
"Can't we not go?" The assistant, Little Fatty, immediately advised, "It's very dangerous inside, let's not go."
"I wasn't planning on taking you anyway." Wang Qing got into the press van. "Also, keep this a secret, keep it to yourself."
"Damn, he agreed just like that?"
Fei Sha was clearly still in a daze, watching the news van drive away: "Why are they so quick to agree? What's so interesting about filming inside the walled city? I don't understand these people."
"You don't understand the refined pursuits of journalists." Wu Tianyao slapped the magazine into Fei Sha's hand: "Read more magazines when you have time."
in fact.
Wu Tianyao also thought so.
Wang Qing is one of the more well-known reporters at Lidi TV.
Her family also owns a textile factory, and they are well-off and have no worries about food or clothing. What is her purpose in going to the Walled City to take photos?
Capturing humanity?
Or is it a special feature on ordinary, everyday people?
Or perhaps it's an attempt to reveal another side of the bustling Hong Kong from a grassroots perspective?
Who knows?
She has plenty of money, so she can talk about life and ideals, and the things she pursues are naturally different from those of other people.
They have no worries about food and clothing.
They can pursue their ideals and do what they want, and satisfy their hobbies and pursuits.
Wu Tianyao didn't dwell on these things; as long as he achieved his goal, that was enough.
The car left from here, and then I called Li Rui to ask him to help make arrangements.
