Chapter 34 Bargaining
Chapter 34 Bargaining
The philosophy behind this statement is completely unlike that of an 11-year-old child.
Snape glanced at Vaughn and suddenly hesitated about his previous thoughts.
Seeing his hesitation, Vaughn asked, "Professor, is there anything you want me to do?"
Looking at that smiling face, for some reason, Snape was reminded of Dumbledore—that old man, who always had a smile on his face.
In fact, from the moment Vaughn arrived at the Quidditch pitch and saw the Gryffindors, he knew what Snape wanted him to do. This perpetually reclusive man would only voluntarily leave his basement to watch what he considered a "stupid sport" when it came to Harry!
Sure enough, after maintaining his aloof demeanor for a while, Snape asked dryly, "What do you think of Potter's Quidditch skills?"
"Great." Vaughn looked up at the lion cubs who had already begun training, Harry's thin figure moving swiftly through the wind and rain.
He glanced at Snape and said with a wicked grin, "Everyone says Harry inherited his father's talent, and Gryffindor believes that no Seeker from any other house team can rival Harry."
Boom!
Vaughn could almost hear the sound of teeth grinding together.
He saw Snape clench his fists, and a rare, intense emotion flickered in his dark eyes.
It's hard to say whether it's reminiscence or hatred.
But clearly, he stopped beating around the bush: "Vaughn Weasley, if I put you in the Slytherin team, can you beat him?"
Vaughn feigned surprise: "Professor, why? You know, Harry and I are friends, and I don't really like Quidditch."
"Hmph, friend... all you need to do is tell me if you can do it?"
"This... should be fine, right?"
Vaughn, with a confident yet innocent look, said, "But Professor, I have a lot of things to do, especially experimenting with medicinal herbs. It not only takes up a lot of my time but also costs a lot of money. I also need to brew medicine to earn money..."
"I'll provide the materials!"
These words were practically squeezed out by Snape through gritted teeth.
"I also need to maintain my studies. You know I'm a studious person, and homework takes up a lot of my time every day..."
"I will contact Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick." Snape's expression grew even colder. "Given your level in Transfiguration and Charms, I'm sure they'll cancel your assignments, including mine in Potions! But you can't skip your assignments for other classes."
"That's wonderful." Vaughn said cheerfully, and continued, "Also, I noticed that in the book you gave me this time, apart from the Oblivion Charm, there were no memory spells, like Legilimency or anything like that..."
Snape's face was ashen.
He was now certain that the Weasley in front of him was just as wicked as Dumbledore!
Greedy and unforgiving when in power!
Absolutely outrageous!
But after taking a few deep breaths, he still said dryly, "Next summer, I'll send you a book... Don't go too far, Weasley!"
Vaughn was still not satisfied; such a good opportunity to blackmail...
Unfortunately, judging from Snape's expression, these demands had already crossed his bottom line.
But he added one more point: "I hope Slytherin gets a new captain; Marcus Flint is an idiot."
Snape instinctively wanted to throw off his robes and walk away.
But upon closer reflection, Marcus Flint was a tall, burly man who looked like a gorilla, with well-developed limbs and good athletic ability, but whose brain composition was unknown.
They're even dumber than trolls.
He suddenly realized that Vaughn's request didn't seem to have any problem.
He had to ask again, albeit awkwardly, "Do you have someone in mind?"
Vaughn's expression was indescribable: "No..."
Even after agreeing on a price and leaving the Quidditch pitch in the wind and rain, the two still hadn't found anyone to replace Flint. Vaughn himself was definitely out of the question, and no matter how much Snape wanted to discourage Harry, he wouldn't ask Vaughn to waste too much time on Quidditch.
Struggling with his choice, Vaughn sighed to Snape before parting ways:
"Professor, could the college recruit a few more normal people next year? The requirements aren't high, just someone with a brain is fine."
Snape: "..."
……
Two days later, Vaughn, who was visiting Gryffindor, received a package delivered by an owl.
He was having dinner with the trio at the time.
These days, although Vaughn has focused all his energy on learning new spells and potions, he is fully aware of Harry's actions.
One of the three was his younger brother, and the other was his secret agent.
Harry is also known for his big mouth, nicknamed "the one who keeps his mouth shut".
Even though Vaughn never paid any attention to it, he still knew that Harry was investigating the small package that Hagrid had taken from Gringotts.
They even found the room where Lou Williams was.
That was a night more than two weeks ago.
When Harry finished his last day of detention, Ron and Hermione went to pick him up, but they ran into Mrs. Lorris and Peeves on the way.
After being taught a lesson by Vaughn, who then taught Hermione the magic to cure Peeves, Peeves, feeling isolated and alone, began to ally with Filch.
Of course, that's just its own opinion.
In reality, it started working with Mrs. Lorris, and it was responsible for passing through walls and obstacles to find the little wizard who was out at night.
Mrs. Lorris was tasked with calling Filch.
Enemies meeting are bound to be hostile. Peepi is afraid of Vaughn, but he's not afraid of the trio at all. He barks and screams in the corridor, and together with Mrs. Lorris, he chases the trio all the way to the fourth floor and into a room.
"You're all dead! That three-headed dog will definitely kill you!"
Mischievous Ghost tumbled and rolled happily in the air.
The trio found Cerberus in that room, and Hermione also noticed a trapdoor at Cerberus's feet.
"The package Hagrid retrieved must be hidden under the trapdoor."
Harry confidently told Vaughn yesterday, "That's Dumbledore's stuff, it must be very important, but unfortunately we don't know what it is."
So Vaughn, with a mischievous grin, egged him on: "Why don't you just ask Hagrid?"
Having spent some time at the academy, Harry was now much more confident and no longer as shy as before. He questioned, "Hagrid is very tight-lipped; he wouldn't tell me."
"That's not necessarily true. Just say you saw a three-headed dog."
So this morning, Harry, Ron, and Hermione excitedly approached Vaughn: "How do you know that saying that would make Hagrid reveal the information?"
Vaughn smiled without saying a word.
Where do you think Harry learned to talk so much?
"Hagrid said that the three-headed dog was named Fluffy, and that he lent it to Dumbledore to guard something."
Harry took a breath, and Ron continued, "It's related to Nicolas Flamel."
Hermione concluded, "I'm sure I've seen that name before, but I just can't remember it no matter how hard I try. I checked last night but still no luck. Vaughn, you know what?"
All three of them stared longingly at Vaughn.
