Chapter 362 Goal—Knitting Master
The energies of the gemstones interfered with each other in a chaotic manner, leading to an out-of-control collapse.
Although the process seemed long, it actually happened in just one second. Joey watched as several energy waves powerful enough to tear the universe apart exploded one after another in his palm.
With several loud bangs, he was thrown into the air by the explosion, crashing into the side of Stark Tower and creating a large crater.
Fortunately, Stark Tower here is no longer the same as that one. It was once a high-tech company selling clean energy, but has transformed into a war logistics line filled with drone soldiers and production lines. Apart from the cyborg Tony, there are no other living people inside the company.
The cyborg Tony, donning a new suit of armor, flew into the hole Joey had smashed through. Seeing the mess, he said nothing, simply reaching out to help Joey up.
"How are you?"
Joey groaned, enduring the pain in her arm as she stood up: "I'm fine, the injury is healed."
"I doubt it. Can you even move that arm?"
The cyborg Tony watched as Superman's arm, adorned with the Infinity Gauntlet, was nearly carbonized by the explosion, and for a moment, he didn't know which doctor to call.
"At your speed, you should have taken off your armor and dodged, instead of waiting for those six treasures to explode."
Those were Infinity Stones, yet Superman didn't react at all. He just stared blankly as the stone exploded completely. It's a miracle he wasn't killed.
"No, not six," Joey immediately corrected the cyborg Tony's mistake. "It's five."
The reason he endured the explosion of the Infinity Stones shattering at close range was simply to seize every opportunity to observe what the so-called "damage to the stones" actually entailed.
Fortunately, the bombing wasn't entirely in vain. As Joey stared intently at the gems, he also discovered that the six gems wouldn't all be destroyed as Namor had said.
Only the five Infinity Stones—Power, Mind, Soul, Reality, and Space—exploded directly, while the Time Stone was spared.
Tony asked, "Where is the Time Capsule?"
It's better to have one gem survive than to have all six ruined.
"I don't know." Even with Kryptonian eyesight and reflexes, Joey couldn't catch a trace of the Time Stone at its last moment: "It just vanished into thin air."
During the pause in their conversation, Joey noticed that Tony's body began to emit a six-colored dazzling light, and his flesh and blood began to revert to its original form.
The cyborg Iron Man wasn't surprised by the result; he simply shrugged indifferently.
"See—I told you so, didn't I?"
The gems are gone, but the changes brought about by their power have been restored.
"I want to hug you—"
"No, no, no." The cyborg Iron Man shook his finger. He had chosen to become this way himself, and for him, it was not only a comprehensive enhancement but also a wake-up call:
"Technically speaking, restoring a physical body isn't too difficult for some of my partners, so don't worry about it."
2
If necessary in the future, he may regain a new body, but what is lost is lost, and no amount of restoration can change that.
Of course, all of this is predicated on them having a future.
Once the collision crisis was over, the cyborg Tony immediately ordered Joey to leave:
"Follow me, thankfully the portal coordinates still work."
Joey still hadn't given up on his previous idea: "We should keep in touch more often—"
"No need." The cyborg Tony understood perfectly; he didn't believe at all that the two had the prerequisite of "mutual support and assistance."
"If it weren't for these six Infinity Stones, we might already be enemies fighting each other for survival. I appreciate your willingness to help us, but I suggest you mind your own business first."
If the entire multiverse were to be destroyed in a collision, and only one were to survive, cyborg Tony surmised that Superman's universe would be the one to have the last laugh.
And one's own universe
Half-mechanical Tony knew perfectly well that the only role he could play in a universe where Superman existed was to be a hindrance.
Others might say that such a view is too pessimistic, but the cyborg Tony prefers to call it rationality.
Joey didn't say much. He wanted to find a win-win solution to this collision crisis, one that would save all existing universes from disaster, but constantly talking about it was pointless.
Goodbye then.
The cyborg Tony was well aware of the other party's thoughts. Superman wasn't the only one who had a strong Messiah complex; he had been through it himself.
However, he had almost burned himself out during the long crisis and no longer had the spirit of Superman: "Good luck, this is exactly what you need right now."
Beneath the collision crisis lurks a power capable of shattering all five Infinity Stones simultaneously. Aside from luck, the cyborg Tony couldn't think of any way to break the deadlock.
They even have various conjectures about how the collision crisis was generated and how it affects the entire universe, but they have no conclusive knowledge.
My thought is...
In the other end of the universe, Tony rubbed a tadpole-shaped glass crystal from a Stark Industries workbench:
"Is there anyone here who doesn't recognize this thing?"
Everyone present shook their heads.
Batman, Spider-Man 2099, and Dr. Banner—each of them is a top expert with an academic resume so thick it could stop bullets—so of course they all know what this is.
Rupert's Tear, as its name suggests, is a glass structure resembling a teardrop. Due to the presence of internal stress, its large head is indestructible and can withstand pressure of several tons. It may even remain unscathed after colliding with a rifle bullet.
However, the very tip is extremely fragile; a gentle squeeze can cause this seemingly indestructible glass structure to shatter completely.
"Very good," everyone was intelligent enough not to need an explanation of the scientific principles, so Tony didn't have to explain. He held up the Tear of Rupert in his hand and described his views on this cosmic collision crisis:
"In my view, unfortunately, Earth is the most vulnerable tail, while the entire structure of our universe is the indestructible front—"
shuh~
Joey appeared before them, transported by teleportation equipment. He casually picked up the Tear of Rupert from Tony's hand, pinched the "Indestructible" tip, and with a snap, the entire glass structure shattered at Superman's fingertips, which far exceeded the limits of stress tolerance.
Tony, annoyed at being interrupted, yelled, "Fuck you, Superman!"
He was just about to get to the crucial part!
"Things over there are sorted out." Joey glanced at the people in the room and saw Spider-Man 2099, whose entire universe had been destroyed by Doctor Doom. He thought to himself that Tony was really heartless.
Is it appropriate to talk about this in front of the person involved?
He directly and forcefully changed the subject: "Infinite Treasure does exist, we need to speed things up."
Given enough time, they might be able to find a reasonable way to make the six Infinity Stones more than just something that can be used once.
By then, most of the collision crisis will naturally be resolved.
"Have you detected a signal from the universe?"
Fortunately, the Space Stone in this universe has a strong connection with the Cosmic Cube. If it were like the universe with the cyborg Tony, where the Cosmic Cube and the Space Stone had no connection whatsoever, then they would really be doomed.
"Don't worry, the coordinates have been roughly determined." Tony pointed to the next room, where a more precise locator was being manufactured.
"With Dr. Banner and me working together, this isn't something that can be done easily."
"Okay, then next is—"
Joey felt he should set off as soon as possible, first to find the Power Stone, which was probably the easiest to find, and then use Asgard to locate the other two stones, the Soul Stone and the Reality Stone, whose existence was more mysterious.
"Excuse me for interrupting."
Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099 who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke. As the earliest organizer and current de facto leader of this Spider-Army, he was there not only to discuss resolving the multiverse collision crisis, but also to take charge of solving the Spider-Men's problems.
"The vast majority of the Spider Legion want to return to their own universe."
However, the threat posed by the Heirs' family remains very real. Given that the Heirs' family can resurrect indefinitely with the help of a cloning base located somewhere unknown, it is unrealistic to kill them all for the time being.
After discussing with the Spider-Men, Miguel came up with a temporary solution: "I'd like to ask Superman for your help. Could you go with some of our most powerful Spider-Men to Universe Zero, where the Heirs family resides?"
So he added another item to Joey's next plan list:
"Kill the knitting master."
