Chapter 6: The Spider-Man Development Plan
Chapter 6: The Spider-Man Development Plan
Peter looked away from Gwen and then swept the broken fries off the desk.
"Sometimes I think, maybe it's because you're a bird that I can't understand what you're saying at all."
Oz shrugged, not at all offended. "Listen, do you remember what you said to me last night?"
Peter thought for a second and replied, "Of course, is there a problem?"
"No problem, but don't you think you should do something?"
"What are you doing?"
Peter paused for a moment, then quickly understood Oz's subtext.
"You mean I use my abilities to help others?"
"Looks like your Uncle Ben didn't die in vain—" Oz scratched his head. "Sorry, I'm used to it."
Peter took a deep breath and told himself that it was best not to bother with this crow; he should have realized from the moment he saw it that its beak was particularly vicious.
He said, "How am I supposed to do it? All I have right now is more strength and the ability to climb walls. That's all I have. I'm not Superman!"
"You're incredibly stupid."
"You're the stupid one! You didn't explain yourself clearly, how am I supposed to know what you mean?"
"You're as stupid as a fish!"
"..."
Gwen, sitting at the back of the classroom, watched Peter's figure.
She suddenly felt that Peter had become very strange.
Although the loss of a loved one will have a significant impact on daily life, Peter's behavior at this moment is really strange...
Like an idiot.
She felt she needed to find some time to talk to Peter and help him release some of his stress.
the other side.
Peter finally understood what Oz meant. He remembered that Oz had made him wear the spider costume before, but he didn't understand what it meant at the time.
"Okay, okay, I get it. Wearing a uniform that hides your true appearance, but..."
Peter paused, quite puzzled: "I can't secrete spider silk from my body!"
"What I mean is, even though I was bitten by a spider and have inexhaustible strength and the ability to climb walls, it doesn't mean I've become a spider."
"Become the Spider-Man you've been talking about."
Upon hearing this, Oz spread his wings and bent them, pointing to his own head.
"Brain, Parker! Your brain!"
"Can't you just make a pair of web-shooting machines?"
Peter replied, "You're making it sound so simple. Where am I supposed to find spider silk strong enough to support a human body...?"
As he was speaking, he suddenly shut his mouth.
He recalled an Osborn technology product that had been featured in a science magazine before.
A synthetic spider silk that can even pull an airplane.
"Well, got it now?" Oz asked, noticing the change in Peter's expression.
Peter nodded. "Osborn has a product that can solve this problem."
Oz said, "Look, your other Uncle Ben is getting going."
"..."
Peter, exasperated, ignored Oz's words and said, "I have a question."
"What?"
Peter voiced his doubts, "Why are you in such a hurry for me to become Spider-Man?"
"You don't like the name Spider-Man?" Oz countered. "How about Lizard Man? Besides, I know you and a scientist are working on a genetic experiment. Maybe you could transfer your spider abilities to someone else."
"I think she's quite suitable."
Oz pointed with his wing to a blonde girl in the seat behind him.
"screw you!"
Peter glanced back at Gwen, then quickly turned back: "I knew you wouldn't say anything nice!"
"Actually, I don't really hate this title," Peter said. "It's just... it feels strange, like it was destined for me."
In the early Spider-Man comics, the most classic concept was that the radiant spider altered human genes.
The later the setting became a choice of totem, a choice of deity.
There are countless Spider-Men in parallel universes, so it's not surprising that a few Spider-Men who aren't Peter Parker occasionally pop up.
But when Spider-Man is mentioned, most people still think of the well-known Peter Parker.
Oz tells Peter, "It's not that I'm in a rush to make you Spider-Man, it's that you're destined to be Spider-Man."
Being just a teenager, Peter couldn't help but scoff upon hearing this: "I should be able to build a web-shooting device, but it will take some time."
With Oz's ideas, Peter quickly came up with a research direction for spider silk projectors.
He was drawing a blueprint on the paper with a pen in hand when he suddenly looked up.
Peter asked, "How did you know that Dr. Connors and I were researching genetics?"
"Because my eyes can see into the future."
"Really?"
Peter was taken aback; he had always been curious about why Oz's eyes were red.
"real."
Oz tilted his head, his gaze once again fixed on Gwen in the seat behind him.
"For example, this woman who's incredibly resilient to falls, who is also your girlfriend."
Peter blushed immediately: "She and I are just friends!"
Oz chuckled and said, "Your words are as unconvincing as her father's death."
That's enough!
Peter retorted, "It's enough that you're making fun of me, you have to go and make fun of other people too!"
Oz said, "You're quite kind. Okay then, I'll only drive yours from now on."
Peter choked back tears: "It wasn't you..."
He sighed helplessly; this jinx was even more severe than he had imagined.
Peter lowered his head and continued sketching the spider silk projectile, then changed the subject.
Do you have any suggestions regarding uniforms?
"How about black?"
"No, that's too dark."
"You might as well just put a plastic bag over your head."
......
The day's classes came to a hasty end.
Peter stood in front of the bookshelf, Oz perched on his shoulder, and they chatted idly.
"Was Flesh ever locking you in a closet?"
"Of course not!"
That's such a pity.
Peter slammed the bookshelf door shut. "I want to lock you in there right now!"
Oz smiled, then suddenly turned his head and saw someone coming towards them.
"Kid, love has arrived." Oz patted Peter's head with his wing.
Even without Oz's reminder, Peter noticed Gwen's arrival and inexplicably became nervous.
"Hey."
"Hi."
Gwen, holding her textbooks, smiled and said, "You look much better now than when I first met you today."
Peter scratched his head. "Really?"
Oz felt nauseous listening to this mushy couple.
He asked Peter, "Are you going back to make the web-shooters and the uniforms or not?"
Peter ignored him, completely absorbed in his conversation with the girl, oblivious to the world around him.
Oz rolled his eyes, then heard Gwen let out a soft laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Oz asked.
Unlike Peter's voice, which rang in Gwen's ears, she paused, turned her head, and saw a raven tilting its head, staring intently at her with eerie scarlet eyes.
"ah----"
The girl let out a scream and immediately hugged the boy beside her.
"Oz! What are you doing?" Peter hugged the frightened Gwen, not understanding Oz's behavior.
Oz didn't reply to him, but instead raised an eyebrow at Peter.
Peter understood Oz's meaning almost instantly, and his face turned bright red.
Oz looked up at the sky and sighed.
I'm incredibly handsome.
Really.
