Chapter 223: The Awakening of Core Power and the Reconstruction of the Rift
However, the avatar did not dodge. After the starlight struck its body, it was completely absorbed without causing any damage.
"It's consuming energy!" the observer shouted a warning. "Don't attack its core directly!"
Without hesitation, Lysa raised her spear, its tip emitting a purple-gold light. The light transformed into a chain, swiftly binding the avatar's arm. The avatar tried to break free, but the chain's strength slowed its movements.
"Quick! Destroy the crack while it's immobilized!" Lysa shouted.
The observer nodded, then raised his hand to summon fragments of the star map, transforming them into countless arrows of light that shot towards the edge of the crack. However, just as the arrows were about to touch the crack, a powerful recoil repelled them.
"No!" the observer frowned. "The energy in the rift is too strong; we must find its energy source!"
Just as the three were searching for a solution, countless black wisps of mist suddenly spewed out from the surrounding cracks. These wisps of mist quickly condensed and took shape, transforming into countless pitch-black monsters. Their shapes were irregular, as if pieced together from fragments, and their eyes flashed with a blinding red light.
"They are the guardians of the rift!" Lysa swiftly swung his spear, repelling a lunging monster. "These things will appear endlessly!"
"I'll hold them off!" The Arbiter swung his scepter, and a starlight barrier appeared on the ground, keeping most of the monsters out.
"Observer, locate the energy source of the rift!" the Arbiter shouted. "We have no time!"
The observer nodded, closed his eyes, and sensed the surging energy flow within the crack. A moment later, he snapped his eyes open, pointing to the center of the crack: "The energy source is behind the avatar! It's trying to conceal it with its own power!"
"Then force it to move aside!" Lysa shouted, raising his spear again. The chains tightened rapidly, dragging the avatar to the other side.
The observer seized the opportunity to rush towards the center of the crack, where a dazzling silver sphere of light was constantly surging with energy. However, as he approached the sphere, it suddenly began to expand, and a deep voice emanated from it:
"The embodiment of rules... You want to destroy me? Impossible..."
The sphere of light suddenly erupted with a massive energy wave, blasting the observer back several steps. He looked up, his eyes filled with shock.
"This is... the core power of the Void Fragment."
“The core has fully awakened.” Lysa’s voice carried a hint of anxiety. “We must stop it, or it will trigger a new collapse of the rift!”
The three exchanged a glance, a tacit understanding forming between them. They knew this would be an unprecedented battle for survival.
Deep within the rift, a silvery-white sphere of light slowly rotated in the void, its surface surrounded by a deep black halo. The energy emanating from the sphere resonated through the surrounding space, each fluctuation causing the crystalline ground beneath their feet to tremble slightly.
“That is the core power of the Void Fragment,” the Observer said in a low voice, his eyes filled with caution and worry. “It is trying to gather enough energy to break through the boundaries of this dimension.”
“We must stop it,” Lysa said firmly, her spear trembling slightly in her hand, the purple-gold light gradually intensifying. “If the core successfully breaks through, the cracks here will extend directly to other dimensions, and we will face an unprecedented crisis.”
"Easy for you to say." The Arbiter sneered, his scepter twirling slightly in his hand. "The core's power has awakened; we have no way to get close to it. You saw the energy counterattack just now; it was protecting itself."
The observer nodded: "A direct attack on the core is indeed a dead end. We need to find the weak point in its energy flow and start from there."
Just as the three were preparing to act, the void creatures surging from the rift suddenly pounced on them. They were more numerous and faster than before, clearly a full-scale attack launched to protect the core.
"These monsters are endless!" Lysa shouted as he pierced a monster's body with his spear.
"Don't waste time! Concentrate your firepower to open a passage!" The observer raised his hand to summon a fragment of the star map, and countless light arrows shot out from the void, crushing a group of monsters.
However, just as they had cleared a path, the avatar of the Void Fragment suddenly moved. Its body grew even larger, and its dark tentacles lashed wildly in the void, each swing unleashing a massive energy storm.
"It's blocking the way!" the Arbiter roared, waving his scepter and unleashing a blazing starlight that hurtled towards the avatar.
The avatar's tentacles swiftly blocked the starlight attack, then retaliated. A black energy wave struck the Arbiter, who barely managed to block it with his scepter, but the immense impact forced him back several steps.
"We can't afford to delay any longer!" Lysa gritted her teeth, raising her spear high. The purple-gold light transformed into a chain, striking directly at the avatar's chest. The chain temporarily immobilized the avatar, but her forehead was already covered in sweat.
"Quick! Attack the core now!" Lysa shouted.
The Observer and the Arbiter rushed toward the core simultaneously. However, just as they approached the core, the sphere of light suddenly erupted with a blinding white light, and a massive energy wave blasted them away.
The observer struggled to his feet and looked up at the core: "Its defenses are strengthening, and each release of energy brings it closer to full awakening."
"Then stop it from awakening!" the Arbiter said coldly, raising his scepter and sending a blazing beam of light straight to the core.
The beam of light struck the core's surface, triggering a violent tremor. However, this attack did not weaken the core's power; instead, it caused an even more intense energy fluctuation. The halo on the core's surface grew brighter, and black energy began to spread outwards, directly covering most of the crack.
"No!" the observer exclaimed urgently, "You've provoked it! It's actively expanding the crack!"
As the core expanded, the rift began to grow rapidly. The surrounding void became even more distorted, the crystals on the ground began to crack, and countless streams of silvery-white energy surged out from the rift.
"We're out of time!" Lysa's voice was filled with anxiety. "Once the core's power is fully unleashed, this dimension will completely collapse!"
“Observer!” the Arbitrator said coldly, “What can you do? Or we may have no choice but to retreat.”
The observer looked up, his gaze fixed on the core halo. His mind raced, processing the energy structure of the crack. A moment later, a flash of inspiration struck him.
"While the core's power is immense, it is not perfect. Its energy flow follows a fixed cycle, and if we can find the point in this cycle, we can interrupt its operation!"
"A node?" Lysa gripped his spear tightly, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes. "Where is it?"
