Chapter 3: A Head-on Confrontation with the Adult World!
"Don't worry, Harry! There are still almost two months before school starts, maybe things will change!"
Dudley, holding the owl, smiled confidently and dispelled Harry's disappointment with his words.
Harry cheered up again: "I know, cousin, you said anything is possible until the very last moment, right?"
“That’s right!” Dudley stopped laughing, freed one hand, took the letter from Harry, and glanced at it. “However, before seeking a turning point in the future, we need to have a stable rear.”
Ready to persuade those stubborn and foolish adults, Harry?
Upon hearing this, Harry realized something, and his emerald green eyes looked at Dudley with shock and admiration.
"Cousin, what are you going to do..."
"Shh! Grab my cane and that bag of beef jerky, and go open the door!" Dali's voice remained steady and powerful.
"Yes, cousin!"
Harry felt a surge of excitement, but mostly trepidation. However, he would wholeheartedly support his cousin's decision to do what he had set out to do.
Picking up the Smetine cane and beef jerky snacks that had fallen to the ground, Harry, with slightly heavy steps, turned the handle and lock of the white wooden door, and stood to the side to hold the door open for his cousin.
Dudley, with an owl in his left hand and a notice in his right, strode confidently into the house first, with Harry immediately following behind.
……
"Oh~ my little darling Dada, you're finally back! Are you hungry? Mom has prepared some pan-fried smoked meat for you, but it's a bit cold now, so we need to heat it up first!"
"Haha! My darling is amazing! Look! He caught an owl! Darling, are you going to fry it or roast it? I suggest roasting it, that way the color will be more appealing and the aroma will be more wonderful!"
As soon as Dudley entered, he was warmly welcomed by his parents in this life—the Dursleys.
Penny put on an apron, Vernon put down his newspaper, and seized the opportunity to shower Dudley with heartfelt concern, praise, and compliments, radiating emotional value to the fullest.
They simply ignored Harry behind Dudley, offering neither sarcasm nor extra concern.
Surrounded by pampering, Dudley, living a second life, knew that this was not entirely correct, but he still couldn't help but be somewhat intoxicated by it.
However, he has important business to attend to today, and he still has to say what needs to be said.
"Mom, Harry and I ate some beef jerky on the way here, so we're not in a hurry to fry any meat. Dad, this owl isn't for eating, it's for delivering messages, to the wizards at Hogwarts!"
"Clang—"
The spatula fell to the ground.
The Dursleys, who rarely had a dull moment, fell into an unusual silence.
Petunia Dursley and Vernon Dursley stared wide-eyed, their gazes turning in perfect unison to Dudley's owl before settling on Harry, who stood somewhat awkwardly beside him.
"Do not--"
A sharp scream echoed throughout the room.
"No, Dudley, throw that strange bird away! In this world, there are no wizards, no magic, and no owls that deliver messages!"
Penny, recalling her painful past, cried out in despair.
Her voice was high-pitched, and she spoke harshly to Dali, a rare occurrence for her. Her eyes became glistening with tears, revealing a complex and profound grief.
Vernon, who had been sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, now turned his attention to Harry, who hadn't said a word the entire time.
He straightened his round, fat body, stood up, and strode towards Dudley and Harry, shouting menacingly at Harry as he went:
"You're the one who brought this weirdo here, aren't you, Harry! I told you before, don't bother us with these strange things!"
“Uncle Vernon, I…I…” Harry was frightened and shrank behind Dali for protection.
“Don’t be afraid, Harry!” Dudley said firmly. “There’s no time left. We can’t let them continue to drift along in this daze, deceiving themselves! Go, calm them down!”
As Dudley spoke, he unhesitatingly used his right hand, which was holding the letter, to block Vernon's fat hand that was reaching for Harry. Under Vernon's surprised gaze, he took the opportunity to use a close-quarters brace, using a clever force to bump into Vernon.
The next second, Vernon felt his almost round body being surrounded by an irresistible, subtle force, and he immediately spun around and staggered back onto the sofa.
"As expected of my son, Little Dada..."
Vernon Dursley, who had collapsed onto the sofa, instinctively praised his son.
At this moment, Harry, having received his cousin's order, overcame his fear of his elders, stood firmly beside Dudley, and stretched out his hands to point at the Dursleys from afar.
"Harry, what are you doing?!"
“Aunt Penny, Uncle Vernon, calm down… calm down…”
A scene reenacted!
A magical force, carried by Harry's rambling and his eager and excited anticipation, transformed into a soothing and magical power that quickly spread outwards.
The Dursleys' anger vanished at a visible speed.
“Mom, Dad, let’s sit down and have a good talk!” Dali pleaded, his emotions running high.
"All right……"
A moment later, Mr. Owl Messenger moved into the large birdcage that Harry had found in the storeroom under the stairs, and everyone sat around the coffee table in the living room on the first floor.
The Hogwarts acceptance letter, after being read by the Dursleys, was placed crumpled on the coffee table in the middle.
"Mom, Dad, first of all, I have to make something clear to you that you already know."
Dudley broke the silence first, "That is, magic and wizards are real! Harry's performance just now is a living example!"
"Dali, so what if these strange things exist? Our lives shouldn't be intertwined with those damned wizards! Stay away from them, just stay away from them! They've come looking for us, maybe we should move..."
Even now, Vernon Dursley still wants to be a quail, leading his family away from the strange things he can't understand.
"When we encounter things that are closely related to us but difficult to understand, we should not run away or resist them, but rather understand and accept them, and ultimately take control of them, transforming them into our own power!"
Dali patiently reasoned with his loving family, "Dad, let me ask you, if your company, Groning Drilling, encountered a competitor with new drilling technology and machinery that wanted to steal your company's orders, what would you, as the manager, do?"
Vernon immediately put his big brain to work. Although he was happy that his son was better than him, he also hoped to prove his own strengths and thus gain his son's admiring gaze.
"Perhaps we can wage a price war to retain our old customers while upgrading our technology and machinery, or we could simply acquire the competitor with the new technology!"
“You’re a competent manager, Dad!” Dudley gave Vernon an approving look. “But since you know the importance of embracing new things, why are you resisting magic?”
