Chapter 14 Water Source
Chapter 14 Water Source
The next day, Su Yue stretched and got out of bed. The sun was already high in the sky and it was unbearably hot.
As soon as the door opened, Su Erbao and Su Xiaobao were seen vying to fetch water for Su Yue to wash up in the yard.
Su Erbao wasn't stupid; he was willing to risk everything to avoid being beaten and to get a bite of meat.
Uncle Su nudged Su Xiaobao, who hadn't managed to grab the washbasin, with his buttocks. "Get off me, I've already got it. I'm going to get water for Sister Yue. You go play somewhere else."
Su Xiaobao, who had been pushed aside, glared at Su Erbao and then came to Su Yue with a grin. "Sister Yue, get up! Go wash up quickly, I'll get you breakfast."
Su Yue was quite satisfied with her current situation. It was comfortable to have someone to serve her, and she could just give those who disobeyed a good beating.
If she behaves well, Su Yue wouldn't mind staying in this house indefinitely, since girls under the age of fourteen in this dynasty cannot live independently.
Even if the family separated and moved away, the household registration still had to be registered with someone else's household. As long as the household registration was with someone else's household, they had to prevent that person from secretly taking the household registration to a human trafficker to sell it.
Since her current body is not yet fourteen years old, Su Yue has no plans to separate from the family.
Two cornbread buns and a bowl of thin porridge for breakfast. Su Yue knew that this was all the Su family had to eat, so she wasn't picky at all. After eating, she got up, slung the basket she had bought in town over her shoulder, and headed to the back mountain.
Su Yue hadn't seen Uncle Su and Aunt Su since she woke up, and she didn't care what kind of trouble those two were up to now.
When Su Xiaobao saw Su Yue go out, he followed her eagerly and started taking Su Ershu to town, while Su Ershu and the villagers went to the mountains to look for wild rabbits.
When they arrived at the foot of the mountain, just as Su Xiaobao had said, almost the entire village had gone into the mountains.
"You can dig for wild vegetables down here. I'll go up the mountain by myself. You'll only get in the way if you follow me," Su Yue said to Su Xiaobao, who was following behind, without stopping.
Watching Su Yue disappear into the mountains, Su Xiaobao squatted down to look for wild vegetables.
Asking him to eat wild vegetables is fine, but asking him to dig them up is really difficult for him. However, he dares not disobey, so he can only rummage through the withered grass trying to find the ones he has eaten.
Su Yue, who was struggling to climb the mountain, encountered several villagers who followed her from the moment she entered.
She hadn't gone far when more than a dozen people followed her. Su Yue ignored them and just kept walking forward, not even looking at the direction. She wasn't afraid of getting lost, since she had Huang Mao with her.
The villagers had been following for about half an hour, and in the end, only three or four people remained, refusing to leave and determined to follow Su Yue.
Among them was Wang Xiuying, who had just finished arguing. From the moment she saw Su Yue, she was determined to follow her and find out where the rabbit was caught, so that she could see how that brat could still show off.
Taking advantage of her small size, Su Yue darted through the weeds and quickly shook off her tail.
After walking along a mountain path for a while, they finally released Huang Mao and Bai Xue from the spatial dimension.
He patted the blond-haired creature that was wandering around him, and regardless of whether it could understand him or not, he let it lead him to a water source.
Su Yue followed Huang Mao and Bai Xue through the mountains for about an hour or two. Along the way, they encountered a hawthorn tree, two wild apricot trees, and a wild grapevine. What pleased Su Yue the most was that she also found a Sichuan pepper tree, which she put into her space and planted.
I didn't see any mushrooms, ginseng, lingzhi, or suyuemao (a type of fungus), or maybe I just didn't recognize them.
Su Yue was overjoyed when she heard the sound of flowing water, as this meant she had at least achieved her goal of going into the mountains.
Upon arriving at the water source, we found it to be a large pool, with no discernible source of water. The spring water inside was crystal clear.
Once Su Yue entered the space, she began digging a pit at the foot of the mountain.
He used his mental power to dig a pit five meters in diameter and one and a half meters deep to collect mountain spring water.
When Su Yue was worried that the pond would dry up after she had collected half of it, she found that the water level in the pond slowly rose back to its original level after a short while.
Now Su Yue felt at ease collecting water into her space. Where there is water, there will be many small animals. If all the water is taken away, the small animals that come to drink will die of thirst. Su Yue did not want to disrupt the order of the mountains because of her own greed.
After collecting the water, Su Yue scooped a spoonful of spiritual spring water from the spring in her space and poured it into the pool, hoping that more of the small animals in the mountains could survive this year of disaster.
With Huangmao and Baixue, they wandered around the mountains, looking for something they recognized that they could eat.
After wandering in the mountains for several hours, Su Yue found a chestnut tree and an apple tree. She also discovered a small cave inhabited by a family of eight wild boars, which she immediately stored in her spatial storage before descending the mountain, satisfied.
With Huang Mao and Bai Xue leading the way, they also caught four pheasants and two rabbits along the way.
Before the sun had set, Su Yue arrived near where the villagers dug for wild vegetables every day. She put the two wolves into her spatial storage, then swaggered down the mountain with her small basket on her back.
We didn't encounter a single villager on this downhill path. They probably all went down the mountain after realizing they couldn't catch any rabbits.
As they approached the foot of the mountain, Su Yue saw a thin, small person ahead, squatting in the withered grass, rummaging through it, trying to find some edible wild vegetables.
Only when I got closer did I realize it was Wang Xiaohua from next door.
Su Yue had an idea in her mind: if Wang Xiuying wasn't looking for trouble, why not create some trouble for her first, so that she would have nothing better to do than keep an eye on her?
"Oh dear, isn't this Xiaohua? It's almost dark, why aren't you going back yet? What if a wolf or a bear comes down from the mountain later? What will you do?" Su Yue squatted down next to Wang Xiaohua.
Wang Xiaohua looked up wearily and said, "It's Xiaoyue. Why are you still on the mountain? Did you go to catch wild rabbits? Did you eat the wild rabbit you caught yesterday?"
"Does it smell good? Sigh! Your second aunt definitely won't let you eat it. You're such a fool. It would be so much better to eat outside and then go back. If I could catch a wild rabbit, I'd cook it outside and eat it before going back." She wiped away the drool that was about to spill out, as if she had eaten the rabbit yesterday.
"The rabbit smelled so good yesterday! I ate most of it. It's just that my second aunt's cooking wasn't very good. But we didn't catch any rabbits today. Sigh! If only my second aunt's cooking was better, the rabbit would definitely be even more delicious," Su Yue said, opening her basket to show Wang Xiaohua.
“Look, when I came up the mountain today, my second aunt packed two steamed buns for me in case I went hungry.”
Wang Xiaohua thought Su Yue was bragging. Everyone in the village knew how her second aunt treated her. How could she possibly share rabbits with her and bring her steamed buns up the mountain?
But she couldn't resist peeking into the basket out of curiosity. Wang Xiaohua's eyes widened at that one glance. "Wow, Xiaoyue, your second aunt really brought you steamed buns! They're white flour steamed buns. I shared half of one with you during the Spring Festival two years ago. They were so delicious."
Su Yue deliberately said, "This steamed bun is a bit hard, let me share one with you."
Wang Xiaohua thanked them repeatedly with joy. Just as she was about to take the steamed bun and eat it, she thought of her parents, sisters and cousins at home and decided to take it back to share with them.
