Chapter 228 Birds and Fish Take Different Paths (3)

Card district, Neuer coal mine.

The factory, closed for the holidays, was no longer as bustling as it used to be. All the machines were shut down, and it was as quiet as a graveyard.

That's not entirely wrong.

Beneath the coal-burning workshop lies the city's sewer system; in a sense, this is a much larger world than the surface.

Bolton McDonald stood beside a viscous, blood-red substance, his expression devout and his eyes fanatical.

Beside him was a middle-aged man who looked like a beggar, known as "Poison Master" Morey.

This Morey was the same person who had attacked Wind Chimes before. At the time, Bolton believed that as long as chaos was created in Illidan, no one would care about the actions of the "Affair Society".

The outcome was disappointing. The Black Knight's interference and Wind Chime's own formidable strength caused his plan to fail.

In the days that followed, two despicable individuals inadvertently discovered a breeding ground for "the Lord" and destroyed it.

But none of that matters now. Decades of planning have taken shape, and all that's missing is the final opportunity to awaken the "Lord" and lead believers into a new era.

Even the Vatican, this stumbling block, will be trampled underfoot by the Church of Suffering!

The sun god? The god of light and wisdom? None of them are as great as the one they worship!

The right path for people is to have faith in the Lord!

"Hayden, how's it going on your end?"

Bolton spoke as if talking to thin air. But that was not the case. The evil god had granted his followers the ability to communicate regardless of geographical boundaries, and even the spatial barrier of the Myriad Shells could not isolate him.

Soon after, Bolton recalled Hayden Gert's reply.

"Hmph! You'd better hurry up."

After saying this, he knelt down devoutly, lowering his posture to the lowest possible level. Seeing this, Morey and the others behind him quickly followed suit.

And so, the group knelt for an unknown amount of time, until a whisper was heard.

“Hungry… so hungry…”

The whisper seemed to come from the depths of his soul, extremely eerie, but Bolton was not alarmed but delighted, standing up and dancing with joy.

"It is the Lord! The Lord has spoken! The Lord has issued a divine decree! Did you hear it?!"

Bolton was so excited he was almost incoherent.

The members of the Guild of the Bitterness, including Morey, naturally heard the whisper and, like Bolton, began to revel.

"Great!"

"I'll never have to live in the sewers again!"

"Great Lord, we need your salvation!"

"Hungry...eat..."

The whispers continued, growing clearer. Bolton heard them and quickly ordered his men to prepare the finest monster flesh and blood.

They used this method for their previous sacrificial rites.

After murmuring several times, the crimson blood clot, seemingly unsatisfied, suddenly gushed out a stream of blood.

Then, the flesh and blood at the spot where the blood was spurting moved up and down and opened up, looking from a distance like a big mouth, with the blood inside constantly writhing, as if it were saliva secreted by it.

Before long, the believers brought fresh monster flesh and blood, which the giant mouth couldn't wait to devour in one gulp.

In just one minute, over a hundred pounds of monster meat were devoured, but it was still not satisfied and continued to whisper:

"Hungry...not enough...I need more..."

"Quick! You guys keep going and get it!" Bolton shouted.

The believers obeyed the command and prepared to transport the flesh and blood of the demonic beasts. One believer was at the back of the group, never expecting that his master would suddenly spring out like a spring and swallow him whole.

"This..." Morey was shocked, but dared not say anything more.

Bolton narrowed his eyes and focused his gaze on his men.

"To be a part of the Lord is a blessing earned through countless lifetimes!"

After saying that, he used his skills to stuff several of his weak subordinates into that gaping maw.

……

Ground level, at the entrance of the Neuer Coal Mine.

"Sir, if you have nothing else to do, please leave."

The security guard had been watching this stranger for a long time. He had been lurking around the gate suspiciously, and seeing that he wouldn't leave for a long time, he had no choice but to stop him.

The middle-aged man pacing back and forth seemed not to have heard the security guard's words and continued walking on his own.

The security guard frowned. If being gentle didn't work, he'd have to resort to force. He changed his tone:

"Sir, if you don't leave, I'll have no choice but to resort to violence."

As he spoke, the security guard grabbed an iron bar and rushed out, trying to scare the middle-aged man away.

However, before he could get close, the man suddenly raised his head, pricked up his ears, as if he had heard something, and then left dejectedly, at least from the security guard's perspective.

After Chen Qingchen left, he appeared in an open space inside the factory.

There were already two people standing before him.

"who are you?"

Simpson and Black Knight were on high alert, with the former directly questioning them.

"You came here last night and then went to the Golden Chrysanthemum Bar. I've been following you the whole time," Chen Qingchen said without any hesitation, revealing his actions.

His frankness actually put the two of them at ease.

"busy?"

“It’s alright. Back in the Chu Kingdom, I heard that there was a famous black knight in Yicheng. Now that I have the chance, I naturally want to see him.”

“That’s me.” The man wearing a black mask pointed to himself.

Chen Qingchen clasped his hands in a fist and palm salute: "It's a pleasure to meet you."

The Black Knight responded with a papal prayer: "Me too, and who are you?"

"My surname is Chen."

The two exchanged a glance, remained silent for a moment, and then Simpson asked, "So what is it you want?"

"I'm really fine," Chen Qingchen said helplessly. "I was taking a walk and just happened to run into you. What are you doing?"

Simpson Budd's face turned pale and then purple. Was that really the case? He hadn't expected the Black Knight to be so unguarded.

"I went to the Golden Chrysanthemum Bar yesterday, but I didn't see the person I was looking for. I must have been thinking the wrong way, so I'm coming back to check again today."

Chen Qingchen smiled and said, "Can I join you?"

The Black Knight thought for a few seconds.

"can."

……

……

Another day and night passed, and the wall of fire continued to advance. The people of St. Louis had retreated from the grassland covered by the wall of fire and arrived in the yellow sand area.

During this period, another batch of people were eliminated by Kadona, including people that Lin Yuanran did not know but had some connection with.

The two academies of the Kingdom of Sesu, apart from the Ancestral God Church, are among the strongest.

However, not long ago, both Hanukkah Academy and Kusser Academy were wiped out by Kadona.

"Golden Eyes" Kerry and "Wild Dog" Bansie were both eliminated.

The remaining participants clearly consist only of the Ancestral God Church and some relatively powerful forces.

Kadona's attacks seemed to be progressive, first eliminating the scattered and weak forces, then turning his ruthless hand on the weaker factions, purging them step by step.

The four students from St. Louis College kept a low profile and were not targeted by the giant beast for the time being.

Some people are different. In Lin Yuanran's field of vision, yet another acquaintance is being brutally murdered.

In the Kingdom of Delos, Kadona has begun to take action against powerful forces, and judging from the looks of it, Claudia and the others are no match for its offensive.
