Chapter 579: Hunger
Chapter 579: Hunger
Lucian’s spirits were constantly clamoring inside his spiritual space, begging him to let them out.It was almost as if they would die if they weren’t allowed to come outside.
Massive headaches began forming in Lucian’s mind. Finally, he coldly warned them,
"If you continue causing trouble, don’t blame me if I break every single one of our contracts."
Normally, such a threat would have immediately frightened every spirit into silence.
However... this time was completely different.
To Lucian’s disbelief, the spirits excitedly agreed.
"Then break the contracts!"
"We don’t mind!"
"We want to meet her!"
Lucian was honestly speechless. For the first time in a very long while, he felt completely helpless. He rubbed his forehead before helplessly looking toward Lana.
"Lana... I need your help."
Lana blinked in confusion. "My help?"
Before she could even ask another question... several glowing spiritual circles suddenly appeared around Lucian.
The next instant... dozens of colorful spirits burst out from his body one after another.
Lana didn’t even have enough time to react. The little spirits immediately rushed toward her.
Some clung tightly to her cheeks. Others wrapped themselves around her arms.
Several happily buried themselves against her chest. A few even climbed onto her shoulders and hair.
Within only a few seconds... Lana was practically buried beneath an enormous pile of spirits.
She froze completely. "W-What is happening?"
The tiny creatures happily rubbed themselves against her. As they squirmed around, Lana instinctively touched one of them.
Its body felt unbelievably soft. It was almost like touching warm jelly mixed with flowing water.
Another spirit felt silky and cool. A third one was fluffy enough to resemble an incredibly soft cloud.
Every spirit felt completely different. Their appearances were equally unique. Some possessed cream-colored bodies.
Others shimmered in emerald green, violet, sapphire blue, pale pink, golden yellow, and countless other beautiful colors.
Their clothing varied just as much. Some wore elegant ancient robes. Others wore beautiful dresses. Several dressed in modern clothes. A few even wore tiny military uniforms.
Every single one had unique facial features. One possessed enormous sparkling eyes. Another had tiny sleepy-looking eyes.
One had pointed ears. Another had round chubby cheeks. Some even possessed little horns or animal ears.
Before Lana could finish observing them... all the spirits simultaneously leaned forward.
Then... one after another... they happily kissed her cheeks, forehead, hands, and even the tip of her nose.
Tiny kisses landed all over her face. The soft ticklish sensation immediately spread throughout her body.
Lana tried her hardest to endure it. Unfortunately... she failed. "Hahaha!"
She burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"It tickles! Stop! I can’t breathe!"
Watching the cheerful scene... Mr. Crow suddenly felt an uncomfortable emotion rising inside him.
His beak twitched. Without saying another word, he casually waved one wing. Whoosh!
Every single spirit was instantly blown backward before landing in a huge colorful pile several meters away.
The spirits blinked in confusion. Lana looked toward Mr. Crow with one eyebrow raised. "What was that for?"
Mr. Crow immediately looked away. "It’s not like I care. I was simply..."
He hesitated for a second. "...slightly jealous."
He quickly added, "Not because of them. I’m only jealous because so many creatures seem to adore you. That’s all."
Lana immediately rolled her eyes. "You’re hopeless."
She then looked toward the pile of spirits. Each one stared at her with watery, pleading eyes.
Their expressions practically screamed, ’Please let us hug you again!’
Before Lana could even open her mouth... Lucian calmly snapped his fingers.
In the next instant... Every spirit obediently disappeared back into his spiritual space.
Lana looked toward Lucian. He simply smiled calmly.
"They can’t be spoiled too much. If I indulge them all the time, they’ll become impossible to control."
Lana could only sigh helplessly.
At that moment...her stomach loudly growled again. She immediately looked pitifully toward Lucian.
Lucian couldn’t help smiling. "Let’s go eat."
Lana weakly shook her head. "I honestly don’t even have enough strength to walk."
She looked at her trembling hands.
"It feels as though my breakthrough consumed every bit of energy inside my body. I already ate two bowls of porridge..."
She sighed pitifully.
"...yet I’m still starving."
Lucian immediately gestured toward the maids. Without wasting another second, they hurried toward the kitchen.
Soon... the table became filled with delicious dishes.
There was braised pork belly, stir-fried pork, roasted duck, steamed shrimp, and white rice.
Several nourishing soups. Various meat dishes. Even fresh vegetables were carefully arranged on elegant plates.
However... Lana ignored almost everything else.
Her eyes immediately landed on the rabbit meat. ’I want that.’
She completely finished the entire plate. Even after finishing it, she still felt unsatisfied.
She continued eating, one meat dish after another.
Meanwhile... The vegetable dishes remained almost untouched.
After finishing everything on the table, Lana quietly looked toward Lucian.
Her sparkling blue eyes practically said, ’I’m still hungry.’
Lucian immediately realized that something wasn’t right. Instead of stopping her, he calmly nodded toward one of the maids.
The maid instantly understood. This time... nobody dared underestimate Lana’s appetite.
The kitchen immediately became busy again.
Before long... several enormous bowls of food appeared.
Countless steaming dishes continuously arrived one after another.
Yet... Lana didn’t stop. The more she ate...the hungrier she seemed to become.
It was as though a bottomless black hole had appeared inside her stomach.
Finally... after finishing four complete rounds of food... she leaned back against her chair. She happily patted her full stomach.
"Ah..."
She smiled blissfully.
"This is what real life feels like. I finally feel alive again."
Nearby, Mr. Crow looked toward Lana with obvious concern. He turned toward Lucian.
"Did her appetite increase because of the breakthrough?"
Lucian thoughtfully nodded. "That’s one possibility."
He was able to understand Mr. Crow because of his spirits. He paused briefly before adding,
"Besides... she hasn’t eaten anything properly for the past six days."
Just as they were discussing the matter... the door suddenly opened. Axel hurried inside.
The moment he saw Lana sitting there safely, the tension in his heart finally eased.
