Chapter 909: The Death Of A Prominent Figure
Chapter 909: The Death Of A Prominent Figure
Commander Bibi, currently in his true wolf form, stood at attention with his massive head raised and his teeth bared in defiance. The fur on his back stood on end as each strand of hair vibrated to the sound of his growls.
Thousands upon thousands of flashing lights blinked in the distance. Bibi could see them just beyond the cavity that had been created by the invasion of his dragon pursuers.
"Surrender or die!" The massive fiery dragon said with a cold snarl.
Commander Bibi was just tier 6. Alas, although he had been following Kael from the start, he just wasn’t the most talented person around.
At least, it was a tier size that was actually better than being cannon fodder. However, in this war, tier six wasn’t enough.
Immortals had already entered the fight right from day one and tier 7 was numerous. The imperial general knew because he was one of the many.
The only way to stand out amongst the horde was to have some kind of status or connection to those who actually held power.
Right now, some Immortals have been fighting the same enemy non-stop for the past seven days.
It wasn’t even a joke.
The imperial chancellor, an immortal directly under the authority of Emperor Zain, was currently locked in a bloody fist fight with Diane and Katari.
Literally.
Those three had been fighting from day one and the region around them was already considered completely uninhabitable.
One had to even commend the Imperial Chancellor, whose duty was not combat-focused. Rather, he was meant to be an administrative assistant to the Emperor.
By all rights, he had no business being forced to fight two incredibly bloodthirsty and insanely powerful lionesses on the first day.
But he had no choice. Diane had literally carved a terrifying path of blood and slaughter to get to him and Katari had arrived almost instantly to finish him off.
It was a very scary thing for anyone to experience right now.
The imperial general was scared on behalf of the chancellor. Out of all the key figures that they could attack, the Consorts of the All-King were the worst to even make an attempt on.
All who went after them at first never returned, they all died very swift deaths if they were weak or very slow and brutal deaths if they were too strong.
If there was anything anyone learned about those consorts, it was that they rarely acted on their own.
Even those times when some thought that they could catch Katari alone and off guard, Diane and Anastasia were right behind and beginning their own rain of death.
No one wanted to ambush them again, afraid that more would come out if there was too much pressure.
Currently, the chancellor was somehow able to keep Katari and Diane busy and the empire hoped it could be that way for a while.
They needed to keep Katari busy in particular.
Poor chancellor, he didn’t even want to fight but he was stuck in a fight for seven days straight.
Thinking of all those incredible figures and their mighty battles, the imperial general could not help but think how inconsequential all he was doing was.
At the same time, he knew that every effort counted. If he backed away, that would mean that the Lions would have one leak that they can exploit to propagate their tyranny.
They could not allow that.
"Servant of the tyrants! Do not resist!" The imperial general said as he signalled his soldiers to descend into the command chamber to get Commander Bibi.
Alas...
"Fuck you!" Commander Bibi spat out and leaned forward. His body blurred and the warp effect of a tier 6 entity was let out in full stream.
The metal ground beneath his feet exploded and he disappeared from his position.
"INSOLENT!" Shouted the imperial general as he raged and wiped out his flaming tail.
*BOOM!*
The fiery tail and the head of a wolf collided in mid-air, the wolf seemingly coming out of nowhere.
The shockwave produced from the collision instantly destroyed the internal structures of the arkship.
Thousands of tons of metallic walls and numerous small chamber worlds were shattered.
As soon as he saw that his attack was blocked, Commander kicked the air beneath his feet, and once again, he disappeared.
The air was sucked out as he zoomed off and shot back with an even more incredible quantity of force.
The imperial dragon impressively met this commander, matching all of Bibi’s consecutive and follow-up strikes with great precision and great force.
Bibi was supported by his own incredible strength that he had from War Wolfheart and the numerous magical armaments on his body.
As Bibi moved around, flashing his fangs and claws in a maddening fury of attacks to the imperial general, the flashes of his very expensive armaments could be seen.
A crystal spiked collar adorned his muscular neck and his ankles. Above his paws and layered with his already deadly claws were sharp golden metallic claws.
A flexible skeletal armour was protecting his ribs and aligned with his back down to his tail.
Commander Bibi was fully set and prepared for adversaries beyond his power level; his pay grade allowed it.
The imperial general was no small fry either. With the might of a tier 7 entity, he was easily continental in terms of power level and this arkship would not be able to withstand his outburst.
As expected, within two seconds, the whole arkship exploded and the fight quickly escalated.
Pieces of the majestic vessel flew every which way as more and more lights started flashing around them.
One thing that had to be noted when handling wolves was that they were just like the lions in one very significant factor.
They were hardly alone.
Hardly.
Commander Bibi was not alone either.
In the midst of attacking Bibi, the imperial general looked around and saw that multiple other arkships and wolves had come close.
His soldiers whom he would have relied on for a swift capture of Commander Bibi were now occupied by the onslaught of vicious wolves.
There was another very significant threat that the imperial general was aware of.
If the fight with the wolves took too long without coming to a conclusion, more would come. Or worse, a lion king would come to check himself.
And once that happened, it would just be straight-up never-ending escalation from there.
After all, just yesterday, a simple fight between a squad of hyenas and a group of Wyverns ended up escalating so much that tens of immortals, and hundreds of lion kings ended up arriving.
As they fought, the truth of the matter became clear. The forces of the lions were less willing to compromise.
They were less willing to yield.
They were less willing to surrender.
They would rather die.
Bibi would rather die.
"I would rather die!" Commander Bibi roared, waving his claws so fast that they cut through the in-betweens of space.
A deep gash cut through the neck and ended up on the face of the imperial general. His flames were doused by his spewed blood.
"Ragh!" The imperial general slammed his claws down, suddenly bashing Bibi away.
It was at this time that he was swarmed by dozens of arkships that began firing hunting grappling hooks and anti-power missiles at him.
"If you won’t live to see their downfall, you can die with them!" The imperial general shouted and rushed after Bibi.
He weaved through the house-sized grappling hooks and various missiles, chasing after Bibi before the latter could come to his senses.
Commander Bibi, still in his wolf form, slammed into a broken floating island nearby.
And as he raised his head, the Imperial dragon bashed headfirst into him. The imperial dragon which was literally dozens of times his size, used its head to smash Commander Bibi through the floating continent.
Being head-butted through the floating continent did not hurt that much to Bibi. What hurt was the speed at which the imperial general slammed into him and the fire that burned.
With rage in his heart and an unwillingness to submit, Commander Bibi looked back at how far he had come. His journey was full of ups and downs, sadness and joy.
From gaining a Primordial as a student, following his King, to losing allies like Madam Vixy.
It was worth it.
While the imperial general was busy trying to kill him, Commander Bibi had already made a decision.
Death was better.
But he would rather die and go out gloriously.
So, Commander Bibi detonated his Wolfheart...
From afar, all that could be seen was a very bright flash of light followed by a vast wave of energy rapidly being expelled.
There was a loud cry and a sorrowful howl. What was this? How could someone be so unwilling to surrender that they would rather commit to this?
How did those tyrants enforce such levels of loyalty?
