Chapter 596, Second Half
Chapter 596, Second Half
In the afternoon, the two returned to their room. After closing the door, the outside world was separated from them by the sliding door into another dimension.
The two planned to spend the day lazily, but doing nothing only made them feel even lazier.
Naruto had already figured out how to spend the afternoon.
He took things out of the storage roll one by one—first the television, a television that could play high-definition pictures, then the special sofa, the kind of double sofa that you could recline on, with cushions as thick as clouds, so thick that you would sink into it.
Finally, there was the futon. He spread the futon on the sofa; it was soft and comfortable. Naruto plugged in the TV. Creating a city with a movie theater was a piece of cake for Naruto, so this kind of thing was no problem at all.
"What does Satsuki want to watch?" Naruto pulled out a bunch of CDs from his storage scroll and laid them out on the coffee table. They were colorful and varied. Naruto had seen most of them before. He decided to listen to Satsuki and let her watch whatever she wanted. He would watch with her.
Naruto originally thought that Satsuki would choose Titanic or a movie like Romeo and Juliet.
However, the movie that Satsuki chose was completely different from the one Naruto had envisioned.
"I want to watch this!" Satsuki pulled the disc from a pile of discs and held it up in front of Naruto. "Naruto, are you okay with this?"
The disc displayed the name of the movie: Jurassic Park.
Satsuki has a particular fondness for dinosaurs, and Naruto, of course, hasn't forgotten this trope, liking those powerful, ancient, and magical prehistoric creatures.
However... the dinosaurs in this movie aren't very friendly.
Naruto hesitated for a fraction of a second, then nodded.
The two lay down on the sofa. The sofa was large enough that two people could lie side by side without feeling cramped, but Satsuki didn't lie down next to him; she consciously lay down in front of Naruto. Her back was pressed against his chest, and the back of her head rubbed against his chin.
She lifted Naruto's arm, draped it around her waist like a scarf, and then snuggled into Naruto's arms with satisfaction.
This way, Naruto could easily hug her. This position was the most comfortable one they found after several trials.
Once the movie started, Zuo Yue was completely engrossed. Every time a new dinosaur appeared on the screen, her body would tense up slightly, as if she were trying to identify the species of that dinosaur.
She really loves dinosaurs, Naruto thought to himself as he looked at her profile.
Naruto held Satsuki in his arms and sighed softly during a break in the movie. The feel of her in his arms was wonderful, slender yet soft. His fingers gently rested on her waist, and through the thin yukata, he could feel the softness and warmth of her skin.
Naruto's habit of sleeping while hugging a body pillow changed to hugging Satsuki after he got together with Satsuki.
However, a ninja's body cannot be as soft and delicate as that of a noblewoman.
Naruto was well aware of this. Back in his genin days, Naruto often held Sasuke's hand, and to be honest, it didn't feel very good back then.
It was a bit hard, but Naruto never complained about it or even cared. He felt that Satsuki's hand was Satsuki's hand, no matter what it looked like. He liked to hold it, liked to hold it, and liked the feeling of interlocking fingers.
That's for sure. After all, Zuo Yue had to do a lot of training every day back then, and she was also practicing the Uchiha-style swordsmanship. That kind of training couldn't possibly make her hands soft and delicate.
Now, Naruto squeezed Sasuke's small hand. It was delicate and elastic, showing no signs of training whatsoever. It was as if the hand had never touched water in its life, like the kind of hand that wouldn't tear silk even if placed on it, the kind of hand belonging to a sheltered young lady, never having held anything heavier than chopsticks.
Naruto knew why—Satsuki had used her Mangekyou Sharingan on him, transforming his body into this state.
Using those eyes that can be modified on different levels, he transformed his body into something that Naruto would find "so soft," "so warm," and "so comfortable" to hug.
Naruto didn't know what to say. Saying "You don't need to do these things for me" would be too insincere, because she had already done it.
Saying "You were fine the way you were before" would be too fake, because the feeling of holding her now is indeed more comfortable than before, and it makes him want to hold her even more.
She was definitely moved. She transformed herself into the person he liked better, simply because she wanted him to feel more comfortable, happier, and more reluctant to let go when he held her.
Naruto hugged Sasuke even tighter.
Seeing his wife become even more perfect, Naruto was naturally the happiest one.
Saying things like that is so hypocritical—things like "I'll love you no matter what you become," "You're great the way you are," and "You don't need to change for me."
In the latter half of the movie, Satsuki's attention shifted from "admiring the dinosaurs" to "worrying about the protagonist."
On the screen, huge, rough-skinned dinosaurs with eyes that gleamed in the darkness were chasing after terrified humans.
"These dinosaurs...are different from the ones over there," Satsuki suddenly said to Naruto.
"The dinosaurs there?"
"Those dinosaurs Naruto made in the afterlife. Those dinosaurs didn't hunt, they were very docile, and they could even talk... I still prefer the dinosaurs from there."
Naruto certainly remembered the dinosaurs of the Pure Land. Those dinosaurs were less like dinosaurs and more like entirely new creatures dressed in dinosaur skin.
At first, Naruto just wanted to make Satsuki happy. He knew that Satsuki liked dinosaurs and those mysterious ancient creatures that ruled the earth for 160 million years in ancient times.
So he created a dinosaur park in the Pure Land, and later, naturally, those dinosaurs became the guardians of the Pure Land.
They don't need to eat; they can survive simply by absorbing artificial sunlight or chakra. They are immortal and will not die or age in the Pure Land. They feel joy when they sense positive human emotions.
The dinosaurs Naruto created, apart from their dinosaur appearance, had absolutely no relation to dinosaurs in terms of behavior. They didn't hunt, didn't bite, and wouldn't prey on the weak.
What they do is patrol the world of the dead, targeting those who try to disrupt the order of the Pure Land, or finding those who committed great evils while alive.
Then, using their power, they send those wicked people to the animal realm.
Rather than dinosaurs, the creature whose habits are most similar to this one is... actually an angel?
